Keep in mind all the east west roads north of the circle are in 10th of a mile from the circle. So 10th st is 1 mile from the circle. 38th st is 3.8 miles, 96th st is 9.6 miles etc. This goes al the way to 296th st the boarder of Hamilton and Tipton county line.
I was born in Indianapolis, and lived in Brownsburg from 1950 to 1955. My parents built a house in Avon, I think it was on White Like Rd, and lived there from 1955 to 1958. Then, we moved to Eagledale in 1958 to 1962. They built a home on a Cul-du-sac on the west side of Indianapolis, right off of 38th and High School Rd. I attended Northwest High School, which I discovered is no longer there. I attended Indiana University in downtown Indianapolis. )The buildings were ancient) and worked downtown at the Bell Telephone Building. Upon graduation, I was promoted and transferred to northern Indiana in 1976. From there I was again promoted and transferred to New Jersey in 1985. I moved to sw Florida in 1996. I only got back to Indianapolis to attend family funerals. Since everyone in my Indianapolis has either moved out-of-state, or is deceased, it’s been years since I’ve been there. Just curious about a few othings… 1) when did they change the name of the stadium back to Victory Field from Bush Stadium 2) why haven’t they updated that hideous gold mirrored building near the Bell building. 3) My grandparents lived on the 2300 block of Alabama St, which became so dangerous in 1964 they had to move. I heard it’s now safe there. 4) why did they stop gilding the dome on the beautiful Indiana Capitol building 5) Is the “humming bridge“ across White River still standing? 6) is the “ haunted bridge” in Avon still standing? Thanks for your postings.!
Based on your website I took time this summer to drive around the Indianapolis area in anticipation of retirement. What I saw jibes with your shows - it definitely seems like a wonderful place to live. I can also attest the round abouts/traffic circles are plentiful! LOL!
Now that I have discovered these, I am following several of your videos. I love our city and am glad (for the most part) you are promoting the city. I must say, though, I believe in your attempt to present the pros and cons of living here, the messages have become somewhat convoluted. If you don't view and/or edit prior to posting, I think it might help.
Commute times: A friend moved here from the western 'burbs of Detroit and was amazed at the shorter commute times. Where he moved from it wasn't uncommon to have commutes that last 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
I don't think I have ever heard you say Chicago, but I already escaped Illinois and landed in NWI , and I could see my family being happy in Indy in the future
I commute from the NW side of the city (W Carmel) to the Southeast (UIndy). Traffic and construction issues aside it is about 30 minutes. It would be nice though if we had decent public transportation. I know, a work in progress. Indianapolis is the largest US city that lacks a tram/subway system.
@@brianarbenz1329 Those are all on the North and South State lines and pretty much as far of a drive as is possible from Indy If you live in any of those places you probably go to Chicago, or Cincy, or Louisville, not Indy. I am talking about most of the places where people live and frequently visit Indy.
Hey. I moved to Indiana about 2 years ago. We (my husband & i) have found some amazing stuff. But we also miss out on a lot because we don't hear or know where to look... I follow a lot of stuff on fb, Twitter, & ig, but do you have any suggestions... desperate to find & learn more! We always seem to hear about it the next day on TV or radio... oh & if you're willing to answer a couple more questions (when they come to mind), Tia! 💜
I love Indianapolis but it has no attractions here in downtown. I guess I was spoiled living all my life in Chicago . I wish Indianapolis had more parks for recreation and some free attractions in downtown area , at least to bring more tourist .
Of course Indy can’t compare with Chicago. Metro Chicago is the third largest in the US while Metro Indy stands around the 34th largest. Quite a big gap!
I'm an Indianapolis native, bornandraised here I've watched several of your videos now and I enjoy them. However I've noticed that whenever you talk about culture and recreation here, especially the sports culture, you never mention racing. Indianapolis is the racing capital of the world. Our motorsports culture is massive with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Lucas Oil Raceway. We host some of the biggest events in racing like Indy 500, the Brickyard 400, and the National Drags, just to name a few. Why do you never mention these?
Good video, but no mention of the world’s largest sporting event? Before the Pacers and Colts and Final 4s, the Indy 500 was it. And it was called ironic that the most spectacular event took place in a city which otherwise had nothing. That has all changed. The 500 now is the flagship event for a whole array of things.
My first job out of college is relocating me to Indianapolis next month and your videos have been super helpful!
Glad they've been helpful!
Congratulations!
This dude has better info and descriptions than Trulia or Zillow.
Thanks!

Hey there! The haunted bridge in Avon is still there. Trains still go across as well. I was just there this past Friday!
Great video! Everything you said here is spot on and all contribute to why I like Indy. Been here almost 3 years now, moved from Minnesota. Subbed!
Thanks!

Bingo, You hit it on the nail head!
You can get from most places in the STATE to downtown Indy in around an hour.
No. The Calumet Chicagoland of NW Indiana is 2 1/2 hours. South Bend the same. New Albany is 2 hours. Evansville is 2 1/2.

Any suggestions for websites to look for houses to rent?
Rentals are a little all over the place. The usuals like Zillow, Realtor.com, etc is a place to start. Our local MLS also has some rentals on it.
Is there opportunities to work in Indianapolis ?
We want to retire in Indiana, witch area are the best for us?
Say- What about the Indianapolis 500 and other race events?
If you have stock options and move to Indy and sell them, you get taxed! City and State. An obscure Indy fact.
Wow! Crazy
Once you figure out the roundabouts there is no going back.
How safe is Indy?
Some parts are quite safe. Others aren't safe at all.
