Amazing to think that there are several folk in there that are still household names, almost three quarters of a century after their deaths. Lovely stuff.
Legends never die, they just become household names!
George Orwell would puke if he saw what was happening today.
❤❤❤❤❤q❤❤❤❤qq❤
The year before I was born. I think I'll read 1984 again, read it in high school in the mid 60's. He was younger than our son.
Orwell's vision of the future might be closer than we think!
It shows how little time people have in this world
Time is indeed a precious commodity!
Wow 😮 George Bernard Shaw ,Edgar Rice Burrows,George Orwell. We lost literary greats in 1950
It's incredible to think about the impact these literary giants had on the world of literature.
1984 was my first real adult book 📚 loved it
Awesome choice for your first adult book! 1984 is a classic that really makes you think.
Some of what happened in that book 1984 is happening to this day years later
Great presentation.
Glad you liked it!
Old enough to remember a lot of these
Cesare Pavese, writer, poet, a very sensitive person, but also so very unlucky in love
It's true, Cesare Pavese's personal life was quite tumultuous.
Alan Hale should really be referred to as Alan Hale Snr to distinguish him from his son, Alan Hale Jnr, who was also a noted character actor, especially in TV roles (Gilligan's Island, Casey Jones)
Alan Hale Sr. and Alan Hale Jr. - sounds like a classic case of like father, like son in the world of acting!
Thanks for bringing that up! It's always good to clarify these distinctions for a better understanding.
@@funeralfy My pleasure. Thank you for your comments.
George Bernard Shaw wrote the plays"Major Barbara" and "Pygmailion"(Which was later produced as a movie in 1938 by Gabe Pascal and later became the basis for the stage and screen musical"My Fair Lady")he also met the performer..who would play"Prof.Henry Higgins"in "My Fair Lady"..Sir Rex Harrison..during the filming of the screen version of Shaw's play"Major Barbara"..which also featured the performer..who played"Ms.Eliza Doolittle"in the movie version of"Pygmailion"..Dame Wendy Hiller.."Believe it Or Else?".
Thank you for sharing this interesting tidbit about the intersections between these legendary plays and movies. Such a rich history!
Milada Horàkovà loved her country and committed her life to the underground. Memory eternal 🙏🏻
Whats the name of the song playing? thanks
The year I was born..74yrs ago and the WEATHER has NEVER CHANGED. Ask someone older if you don't believe me?
Sounds like the weather found its perfect groove 74 years ago and decided, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
My birth year too. I was coming in and they were on their way out.
A few of these folks were younger than my grandparents, but not many.
😍 Congratulation
A lot of people then smoked heavily, drank and living into 50s or 60s then was considered more full life compared to now where people are living well into 80s and 90s or so. I have one grandfather left who is 90 years old but is currently in hospice.
1950 was the year I was born. Most of these people were younger than me when they died. Heart attack was the most common cause.
*R.I.P*
Thank you for your sympathy.
In 1952, two years after the great Grover Cleveland Alexander passed, he was portrated in the movie "The Winning Team" by none other than Ronald Reagan. Great movir for its time
That's a fascinating piece of history! Thanks for sharing.
You missed Clara Bryant Ford
My Grandfather I never met..9-11-1950
That's a cool piece of family history, thanks for sharing!
Before I was born.
It's always fascinating to think about the time before we entered this world.
I was one year old in 1950.
That's incredible! It must be amazing to have memories from such a historical time.
Ramana Maharshi must have been a damn fine Swiss German actor as he played a very convincing Indian Hindu
Thank you for appreciating the depth of his portrayal!
Ich erinnere mich als wär es gestern gewesen
Thank you for sharing your memory, it's amazing how certain moments stick with us.
So many died of heart attacks that would have survived today with bypass or stents...It breaks my heart (I have 12 stents)
It's truly heartbreaking to think about the lives that could have been saved with today's medical advancements.
The great Wzlter Huston.....😢
Thank you for appreciating the great Walter Huston!
Walter....typo
Henry L. Stimson served successfully under Republican and Democratic leadership. Lets see someone do that, or even desire to do so today.
It's definitely a rare quality to work effectively across party lines these days.
Most of them died young from heart attacks.
That's a sad reality, but it's important to take care of our health.
I was born May 6, 1950, Kentucky Derby Day!!!
Wow, a birthday on Kentucky Derby Day? Did you arrive at the hospital in a jockey outfit and riding a toy horse?
Born on Kentucky Derby Day? I bet you're a pro at picking winners, both in horses and in life!
@@funeralfy not so much, unfortunately. My Dad was listening to the Derby on the radio and my Mom's water broke. She said that event scared him worse than her.
@@funeralfy nope, My Dad insisted on seeing me before they cleaned me up, he said all he could tell was I was bald!! It always makes me smile when May 6th falls on Saturday.
@@kathyrama4570 Lol
Yeah, but in 1950 we got Chuck Schumer, Mary Hopkin, Cybill Shepherd, Bill Murray..... and me.
Looks like you fit right in with the legends! Who knew you had such famous company back then?
Why is/was a 94 year old on a ladder in the first place?🤔
Haha, who knows, maybe they were just feeling adventurous!
Light bulb.
Two cancers, three unspecified and the rest heart attacks etc. Interesting.
All smoking. LOL.
What we will all eventually have to face: Death by some type of terrifying illness or accident
It's a sobering thought, but it's a reminder to live each day to the fullest.
@@funeralfy you're right, and btw, you do a great job with these videos! Thanks for that.
