Poor Selena. It's like her and Chris were meant to be together. She didn't deserve to get her heart broken at all. In general, nobody does. Abraham's point though is that no matter how old selena got, he was still gonna worry about her well-being. Just because she was 20 that didn't mean her dad retired from being concerned about her well being.
Her dad went too far. It was not fair to selena.

I saw this movie with my best friend when it premiered in theaters when we were little. We love Selena, and J-Lo and everyone did such a great job in the film.

Me watching the end of this movie makes me sad, when I was about 2 years old my brother told me about Selena. I was like, who dat? I don't think Selena's dad actually hated Chris. Abraham thought that Chris was not good enough for Selena. He also thought Chris was just after her for her money and because Selena was so beautiful. Selena's dad was a very domainary person. He always thought he knew what was best for Selena.

Oh my gosh, Abraham (Edward James Olmos) sounded overprotective of Selena (Jennifer Lopez), didn't he? If my own father soon learned I was in love with a man of my own, what would he think? I don't know, but I'm hoping he won't act the same way as Abraham did. Maybe he'll except my future husband unlike other fathers. I guess I'll find out soon enough.

This movie could have been better. Jennifer and Edward James Olmos' actings were compromised by the underperforming Jon Seda and miscast Constance Marie and Jacob Vargas. This director, Gregory Nava had potential but he compromised his career by making immature career choices such as not being serious about casting.
