A problem with the rankings is, which data point you give more value. I have seen many rankings of healthcare systems and each time it was another country. I have seen my country on top, The Netherlands, but in another survey, it was France, one time it was Brittain, Taiwan, Singapore, etc. And most of those surveys look at the same data points, like cost, accessibility, healthcare outcomes, average life expectancy, etc. However, the differences in those surveys are, how much value you give each data point. The only country where all those surveys agree upon, the USA always somewhere on the bottom of those charts.....
I lived in both Hong Kong and Singapore for a significant amount of time before. And i didnt notice the low cost of healthy until i live in Canada, another good health care country. Hong Kong and Singapore even provide low cost medical service to tourists or foreigners. If u got sick like say fever or broken elbow (touch wood), u can go to those walk in clinic or local hospital and they charge u very little. My friend from Belgium got into a car accident and required to stay in local hospital, he paid like $100 USD only. Not only do the cost is kept very affordable, the care and standard were very high too. Both countries were highly educated, just look at their universities' ranking on the global scale. I have to give them credit and recognition for providing health care to people. Their government really emphasize ethic rather than just all about money. Also, to be fair, these countries have like 5-7 millions people only, its a lot easier to manage. And their city (country for singapore) are only as big as a LA, so its a lot easier to manage
Having great health system is one thing, but even more important than that is to educate citizens how to take care of their health. Because hospitals are the last resort, once you need medical help you have already failed to take care of yourself. Doctors are "mending" health and not preventing health problems in the future. So I think that one great thing we should do is learn about how to take care of ourselves and have people in the healthcare system that can advise us on how to do that without tons of pills and expensive treatment.
Yes, taking care of one's health is important, and doing things that put your health at risk (e.g. smoking) is just asking for trouble. But it's also worth keeping in mind that many ailments can occur regardless of how well you look after yourself, for example genetic disorders, cancer, and of course unforeseeable accidents. It's not always someone's fault they are sick, and no one should have to pay excessive amounts of money for something they have no control over.
Quick Fix What? How offensively ignorant to annyone injured, any cancer patient, anyone born with special needs, any other unfortunate ills, or heck just old people. The vast majority of hospital procedures are not because people have "failed" to take care of themselves...
Quick Fix People can also get something like cancer which can be caused by unhealthy activity like smoking but can also just happen. Don't say everyone in the hospital has failed to take care of themselves. Some can also be in the hospital because of something like a car crash they didn't cause.

Grid 88 because the prices aren't set . instead each hospital sets it's own prices and negotiates with lots and lots of individual ensurances. other places set the prices and there is more negotiating power when you're promising not only the 300 people living near the hospital that have your ensurancw but instead everyone that lives around the hospital. it's a bit like when you buy tons and tons of a product and then instead of buying it at the store price buy it from the factory itself, negotiate with it and and get cheaper prizes for buying more

Cuba has a good system compared to the means that national economy has to provide. It is a good example to countries in development, but in absolute number, it suffers of the poverty of that country, and is not a model for the industrialized word. You see there, for example, good staff situation, as human resources grow in that country, but harsh deficits in drugs supplies, since they need to be purchased on the world market.
Hmm, I always heard that buying in bulk gets you more for the money. Buying 1000 hospital beds cost less pr bed then buying 100 beds. Why does it not work like that in healtcare ?

A financial analysis by an American 'capitalist' advisory and investment instrument (Bloomberg) is hardly unbiased (note no1 pick is a 2 tier system) Translation one for the rich - one for the poor. And Americans just can't let go of the whole 'wait times' thing which is their favourite demon of single payer and mantra for success. It is an American artifact that you can have ZERO wait times, because 1. money talks. 2. For profit hospitals grow like mushrooms, tons of space and bored doctors. In single payer countries emergency medicine IS delivered. What is NOT is elective surgeries, they are prioritized and yes you will have to wait. Boo hoo. Just because Americans has forgotten what a queue is for - fairness. People are queued and resources are queued and illness is queued. (Yah that's right really sick people are served first.) Profit and shareholders built into your system guarantee you will NEVER have fair health care for all.
Yes it's true, the NHS is underfunded. That being said, it's still a very good system. Labour right now under Corbyn wants to provide the NHS with enough money. The conservatives sill aren't providing enough.
Yes the NHS is under real strain at the moment, though it has been coming a long time. A lot of waste and wasted money through things being mishandled by incompetents. The old IT/computer nightmare/s and PFI debacle being just two big ones. Too many managers and being mismanaged by idiots is a big problem. The NHS is something of a mixed bag, depending on one's problem and location. Some of the speciality and specialist centres seem to be great. Gen Hospitals can be hit and miss, and General Practitioners appear pretty poor in the main. But it remains free at the point of contact/service. Could indeed be better, but it could by the same token be much MUCH worse.
Malaysia has handled the situation better than Singapore ( except for the dormitories cos If I’m not wrong non-dormitories cases here is at around 2000) . Singapore also has a very Low death rate , 12 deaths for the 12,000 cases we have now . In contrary , ( and not to discredit the good work malaysia has put ) you have lesser cases but 7-8 times more the number of deaths
NO WAY! Hong Kong's system is already over 100% capacity at any given time of the year and definitely over-burdened! Large exodus of staff also mean most healthcare workers are covering more than one colleague's job load! Goodness me, Bloomberg! 🙄
Even with health insurance (that costs over $500 a month) I never go to the doctor - because the deductible is $7000. So, just don't get sick and you're fine.
Our poor Brazilian Healthcare System (SUS) is mostly bad, it has improved, but in the other hand, the private sector have become more affordable in big cities, we have a great support from the Church through the Santa Casas and other non foundations and non-profit organizations, and private healthcare plans cost very little compared to other countries. Considering that SUS covers 100 million people, the basic care in communities and neighborhoods are honestly great, I think Americans can learn a thing or two from us.
How each country handles the conoravirus epidemic and the stats we have now will tell you which are the top few countries that have the efficient policies and quality medical infrastructures to treat these at-risk patients. IMO, S Korea, HK and Singapore. None from Europe. Just look at Spain's and Italy's death rates vs infection cases and they are supposedly Europe's best medical systems.
sorry, I live in Spain and that people die is not the fault of the medical system, it is because we had no information about the virus. Thanks, that Spain and Italy have some of the best medical systems, we have been able to face this, and at the moment with 85% of vaccinated we are doing very well. Excuse me pretty, we are European countries and in Spain we have a free medical system for anything. we have many professionals and the most advanced technology in medicine as in other European countries. we are a very modern and developed country, find out pretty. you know nothing.
It’s too variable, Sweden had no lockdowns and limited restrictions and did better than most other countries, the initially infected countries such as Spain, Italy and the UK didn’t even know before the pandemic had entered their systems and there was no known response at the time.
mmann66666 When Singapore modernized, we experimented with a heavily private-based system, expecting market forces to push costs down overall. We realized this was not actually the case, with hospitals focusing more on more expensive, better quality care to serve richer people than providing better healthcare for all. We re-pivoted to more government intervention, where the benchmark for services is set by government options, forcing private healthcare providers to compete with this new standard. Yes, we have considerable government intervention, but in our view it is the minimum to make the system work for all.
In Hong Kong during flu peak season in public hospital you might have to wait up to 4-5 hours just to see one doctor. Because the government sector of Hong Kong for doctors is really low. Which means we have shortage of health workers but we still have the best healthcare service but we just have to wait longer which is of course annoying
James Knight this doesn't prove Capitalism is good. Without Socialist's Making all these Great healthcare services we might not see any of these capitalist countries with good NHS's

You can choose to maximize two of the following three choices when it comes to healthcare: quality, affordability, and universality. I'd pick quality and affordability over universality any day of the week.
In Italy the situation is like in Hong Kong, with cheap tickets to access public health care system but with longer waiting time. If you want top notch cure and fast cure you go in private hospitals paying higher prices. But even private clinics have a mixed fiscal regime in which you pay a middle way ticket, more expensive than NHCS but cheaper than going fully private. Last but not least, in most of the collective job contracts (trade, turism, services...) are integrate health insurances that allows you to benefit from private clinics spending a third of what usually it costs.
me, a spaniard: loves hating spain me, a spaniard who sees spain on this video: YAAAAS SPAIN!! (note: i'd like to say that if our system is good is thanks to our amazing professionals and not to our government who loves to do cuts on healthcare and education)
Per capita nordic citizens pay around $8000 in tax dollars on healthcare only. Quality isn't as good either. SInce everyone in health care wants to be paid good and equipment is expensive and taxed.
Geographical size does not present a significant barrier to having a single payer healthcare system. If you can have a Federal government, unified military etc you can also meet healthcare needs within a large country.

What about Portugal? We pay very little for health related expenses, and if you are poor, old or have cronic ilnesses you don't pay at all! And the prices we have right now are very recent, added when the country was under IMF (one of the imposed things).
And in Australia, YOU DONT PAY AT ALL HAHAH SAME WITH CANADA!

Quick Fix What are your thoughts on unforeseeable & inevitable accidents?
Quick Fix What? How offensively ignorant to annyone injured, any cancer patient, anyone born with special needs, any other unfortunate ills, or heck just old people.
The vast majority of hospital procedures are not because people have "failed" to take care of themselves...
Quick Fix People can also get something like cancer which can be caused by unhealthy activity like smoking but can also just happen. Don't say everyone in the hospital has failed to take care of themselves. Some can also be in the hospital because of something like a car crash they didn't cause.
You seem like you're putting the blame on the patient for being ill. 99% of people don't want to get sick. It happens and you can't prevent it.
How can you didt mention Malaysia. The best and cheapest healthcare. They only pay for 0.35 usd or RM1
French healthcare is the best 🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷
France, Spain, Australia, Canada, UK they’re all way better than the US, every developed country is better than the US!
I am from Spain, but there are a thing, I don't get it , why in USA can copy spanish system in the states? Spain have 47 millions, and California have 39 millions
I think you could think this , not in federal level , but state level
But if you don't like the comparison , you can think in UE. If you add the population of Spain, Portugal, France ,Italy , Germany, ,Denmark, ,Belgium ,UK (well, now not in UK, but the system is the same) the population is roughly the same as USA
There are difference among this states in UE , but every one of them are by far better the USA healthcare system
Rasa Malaysia lagi okey. Kita hanya bayar RM1 ja di hospital kerajaan. Nak jumpa doktor tak perlu buat appointment pun. Bayar pun tidak.
I Don't understand what are you talking about

I'm from India and Indian healthcare system is wonderful to be honest. It's affordable. Living in Canada right now, Canadian healthcare system is an absolute joke.
i just saw an ad before this video with a woman from India begging for money to treat her sick daughter...if you don't have a healthcare system that takes care of poor people.. then your healthcare system is not adequate

@@Devil-on7zf that's awful
The main question is "why is it so expensive healthcare in the US?"
Grid 88 because the prices aren't set . instead each hospital sets it's own prices and negotiates with lots and lots of individual ensurances. other places set the prices and there is more negotiating power when you're promising not only the 300 people living near the hospital that have your ensurancw but instead everyone that lives around the hospital. it's a bit like when you buy tons and tons of a product and then instead of buying it at the store price buy it from the factory itself, negotiate with it and and get cheaper prizes for buying more
first last so if you got cancer and the chemo kills you you pay for death?
South Korea is the best. Even UAE royal family visit south Korea for their health care. IF you think about serious surgery, south Korea is one of the best countries.
Agreed. South Korea has the world best healthcare system. Now we know all too ranking Healthcare system is a joke..look their pandemic and Healthcare cannot manage and wearing trash bags for PPE. LOL.
What a joke, as someone living in Korea I can tell you that:
1. You do NOT wanna deal with Korean nurses, they are plain lazy and dont do half or their work, korean nurses aren't even trained to perfom CPR.
2. Korean doctors missdiagnose WAY too often (oh yes, they say sorry afterwards as if that fixed how incompetent they are)
3. Regarding the pandemic, more than half of the people infected with COVID19 are on the run from the authorities meaning they do NOT figure in official reports as infected (and even then you see koreans pulling their masks away from their mouth TO COUGH outside of the mask and then they put it back on)
@@peterjohnson1698 sure buddy, come live here and then try to spit out the same words

3:00 It is erroneous to think that it is not applicable to the United States because it has more population, when having more population paying taxes makes it even easier. You only have to see countries with much more population than Spain within the European Union and its public health system works just as well as in Spain.
In theory, because of the economies of scale, it should work better.
What about Cuba's healthcare system isn't they have worlds best one?
rajat vinerkar yes they have but NowThisWorld doesnt want to recognize that socialistic healthcare are the best, they are just a bunch of liberals...

Haha... Y'all commies are really funny. My cousin passes away, after awaiting treatment for her kidney after 4 years. She passed away during surgery due to the use of unclean utensils. Want to see how "great" their health care is? Go find out for yourself and then come back to me.
They have the most doctors per 100 people.

In the comment, there's a lot of people talking about Malaysia and you know. I'm glad people know that Malaysia work hard for the country 😊

The only thing to love about Turkey is its health system. My arm was broken, my cheek was cut, I had a lot of stitches, I had a convulsion, I was hospitalized for 15 days and even I was given food 3 times a day. I didn't pay any of them. I heard that calling an ambulance is paid in other countries, but it is free in Turkey. In my opinion, Turkey is among the best in the healthcare system.

I have 3 inhalers for asthma about every two weeks don’t have to pay for it but in the us my parents would have to pay like 750£ every two weeks
From now on Malaysia is the best healthcare in the world... 😉
3:15 the usa does have a healthcare sector. It has healthcare business
I prefer Uk NHS, period. Yes, i'm british, so yes i'm going to be biased towards my healthcare provided by my country the Uk
Moses Jonson is it true that the UK's NHS suffer from cuts and austerity? Are both Tory and Labour administrations responsible for the cuts to NHS?
Moses Jonson NHS is better than most but you haven't tried the others so you can't really know the differences
Yes it's true, the NHS is underfunded. That being said, it's still a very good system. Labour right now under Corbyn wants to provide the NHS with enough money. The conservatives sill aren't providing enough.
nik faizal the vast amount of refugees we received from the EU would are jobless and struggle to pay tax is putting a massive strain on our healthcare

Sri Lanka has a fully free health care system.any one can take medicine without money in government hospitals.

It’s too variable, Sweden had no lockdowns and limited restrictions and did better than most other countries, the initially infected countries such as Spain, Italy and the UK didn’t even know before the pandemic had entered their systems and there was no known response at the time.

Jonathan Lim They have universal healthcare
capitalist? it is more of a mix of socialist system with option for private
mmann66666 When Singapore modernized, we experimented with a heavily private-based system, expecting market forces to push costs down overall.
Mohd Khalid yeah

In Hong Kong during flu peak season in public hospital you might have to wait up to 4-5 hours just to see one doctor. Because the government sector of Hong Kong for doctors is really low. Which means we have shortage of health workers but we still have the best healthcare service but we just have to wait longer which is of course annoying

You can choose to maximize two of the following three choices when it comes to healthcare: quality, affordability, and universality. I'd pick quality and affordability over universality any day of the week.
They said Spain has the best healthcare system but now they don't have enough hospital beds unfortunately they make patients lie down on the floor
In Brazil there is a public health Care completely free for all population (more than 200 million) butere is an enormous queue
Best health system in turkey everyone knows it Turkish doctors best doctors in the world
In Italy the situation is like in Hong Kong, with cheap tickets to access public health care system but with longer waiting time.
