African American take on this - I think Afrobeats is the champion, it's a genre with many different sounds.. and the pigeon is still twisted English in wish we can still understand make out, Amapiano, is pretty much all in local languages.. Amapiano is really really dope, however, language will be a big limitation, Kamo Mphela should have been the breakthrough artist and the star, however, that was taken by Tyla who sings in English..

The notion that Nigerians took Amapiano to the world stage has to stop okay why are they so concerned about Amapiano in the first place its cause they want to claim credit of the Genre Asake made a song called Amapiano which has little or nothing to do with the South African culture he just saw on opportunity to put his name on a culture that's growing at unprecedented speed the tik tok videos the trends he wanted a taste of that glory now everyone who is trying to know about Amapiano will know Asake and i have to hand it to him that was a smart business move....
Now South Africans and Nigerians have been making music for ages Burna boy for instance has been profiting nicely making music with South African artist and remixing our hit songs it's nothing new we knew your davido's and wiz kid before they got signed by American labels now don't try and act like South Africans need help ot Assistance from anyone to push their sound we know exactly why your cats want to push this sound and it's not because they want to help south african artists

You guys don't have a clue what you are talking about. Amapiano doesn't sound the same at all. There is even soulful Amapiano from the likes of DJ Stokie, Gaba Canal, Soa Mattrix where you will find inspiring lyrics.

Amapiano is some weird music industry fabrication. Never trust a "music genre" that popped out of nowhere. In South Africa, we don't like amapiano... it's afro pop, afro house or kwaito. Amapiano is for bored teenagers.

Afrobeat is a black movement, more than just a genre. Amapiano is one sided, monotonous and gets boring with time. Afrobeat can accommodate amapiano but amapiano can't accommodate afrobeat, else it becomes afrobeats. There's no competition here in my opinion.
