There’s no room for that cultural appropriation bullshi when it comes too XG , unlike other groups XG DOES their homework, believe that. Like you said bro - it hits differently with these girls cuz u see the culture influence, inspiration, respect, & KNOWLEDGE of what they doing with it. I don’t see no disrespect, I see talented woman who have a passion for the culture & movement and showing that off on an Asian platform.. sooner these “kpop stans” that are hating HARD - realize that , the better.

I’d say they understand this sensitivity pretty well and it’s why they try so hard incorporating so many call backs and paying respects.
Maybe I’m ignorant but I don’t really see that many call backs in songs
@@Sarsaparillamann I don’t think they “try” putting in callbacks in the sense that their overly doing it to appeal to anyone. If u watch them enough you know that their influences are exactly what they make music around- old school sound. Their just re-introducing that classic r&b and hip hop formula to a young audience and generation. And yea I agree I don’t see much appreciation for the culture in ANY Asian group that’s trending right now. That’s what separates XG. Not to mention their music, lyrics, and even choreography at times are all done with black women and men behind the scenes. It’s no joke when I say they really are for the culture on an Asian platform lol

I just saw an interview with them about their favorite artists, they mentioned so many black artists especially female black artists with full name, with their whole chests and admiration. That’s culture appreciation, not appropriation. Appropriation is when you try to steal someone’s culture and call it yours, while culture appreciation fully acknowledges its origin and pays fully respect to it.

they hit different and actually study the music, even contribute to changing a few things, as they grow they will start to write. They are smart. And samurai wore braids into battle so their hair would not get in their way. Ngl I’m an XG stan but I can understand how people might feel a certain way about the braids. Most of the time their hair looks fine like in this video (cuz I personally haven’t seen the braids they have in this video in black African culture) but there are other times where they are overstepping that boundary. You can appreciate a culture without having to do the hairstyles. Just because you appreciate black culture doesn’t mean you can turn around and get Bantu knots or box braids💀. With appreciation comes respect for the culture and if black fans are telling them that they don’t like them using their cultural hairstyles then they should respect that and not do it.
Black culture doesn't have a monopoly on braids. People are so fucking sensitive and fragile nowadays.
