Harry, thank you for another great video, short pencils shouldn't be an issue, because of pencil extenders or placing them at the opening of each resting position. I have used the old yellow brick pen as an extender. I remove the ink and nib section and insert the pencil in the back end of the bic casing, this does depend on the circumference of the pencil stub. I do shave some of the pencil stub to fit. The bic pens are very cheap and can be purchased in boxes of 12 for a few dollars. I love the robax products and have their 80 well watercolour wheel palette, which is a brilliant system, plus the owners of robax give excellent service and information, as well ask artists for feedback, so that they can improve or develop new products. I couldn't speak more highly of this company! Just a pleasure to deal with them.
Sandy you are so right, the gentleman I have been dealing with from Robax has been an absolute gentleman and incredibly professional, always eager to help and make sure the customer is happy. A very professional company anther thing that makes buying from them a pleasure, having that piece of mind that it is a professional company you are dealing with and not just someone out to make a few extra £$ from us. Fantastic company and people.
One advantage this system seems to have over drawers is that the desk "footprint" is less - you don't need to be pulling out a drawer looking for the pencils. I have cases that I have not yet pressed into service, but these look pretty practical if I ever get a desk!
Thanks for the review, Harry! I would totally have a few of these systems if I had a dedicated coloring space. Since I use my materials in the den, I keep everything stored in zippered cases on a rolling cart in the closet. However, if I could display my beautiful pencils, this would definitely be the perfect one!
Oooooomg, I've been looking for an open-tray pencil unit like this for ages, this looks like the one! I'm in love! Thanks for this review I can't wait to get my hands on a couple of these! 😍
Thank you so much for showing this. I saw this in one of your other videos and I love it! I am going to be ordering. Thank you for the time you spend doing these videos.
Thank you so much for stopping by and watching the videos, I really appreciate all the support I get from you guys. I think you will love this system, I know I do, I love it so much I might order another one.
Great video Harry. Thanks for showing us such a cool system. It would certainly be better than the vases and jars I use just now which I've lined with bubble wrap to protect the pencils from knocks. All the best as always, Jane :)
I purchased this after seeing your video. I was so excited to get it. Assembly was simple. As I put my pencils in the tray, my shorter ones slid to the back. I returned it today. I've been thinking about it since and perhaps putting those little bands (like for braces) on the end of the pencil might stop them from sliding. I need to color in my bed and sure wanted this to work. 😫
Sue Wilkinson yeah it was just down to such high resolution still images. It always happened when the still images appear and so over loads of testing I reduced the resolution by half. Thing is it is sorted now and won't happen again, touch wood, however it shouldn't be the case. I should be able to upload the highest resolution images I can get so I think it is either a problem with the software Final Cut Pro or the uploading process to UA-cam and UA-cam not being able to handle the high resolution images. In Final Cut Pro, once you have edited the video you have loads of options to share the video. One is directly to your UA-cam channel, which is the one I normally use. However, you can also just dump the video file on your desktop, which is not a compressed file. Now when I dump the video to my desktop, there was never any problems with the images, but once I uploaded it to UA-cam the purple screen would distort the images. It has been a really frustrating process but I have finally just had to admit defeat and reduce the resolution of the images by half and this way the video is without problems.
Well that was a good result, albeit a bit odd (as you said, shouldn't happen) and very frustrating for you to find and work around. It's so weird that the screen looked just like a fault that came up randomly on my old monitors at work. Obviously a completely different issue but looked more or less the same. I'd be typing away and the suddenly the screen would go black for a second and then give me a grey/pink/purplish looking screen which dithered. I could not work and just had to sit it out. Thankfully I solved that issue by replacing the screens. Lets hope it's the last time either of us have to deal with that weird looking issue.
This a really good storage system! I don't own many pencils, for the moment ;), but this would be great to have it. I'll have a look at the website. Thank you :)
I absolutely love it Azzu and will be buying another one I love it that much. Their web site is really easy to follow if you click the link I supplied, just scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see both the wooden and plastic systems.
Apparently, without counting any markers, gel pens, fineliners, etc. I have 1260 pencils, which includes my colored pencils and my watercolor pencils. I am supposed to get 36 in the mail. That would be a lot of little shelves :D
Diana Mc wow that is an awesome amount of pencils, but your predicament would be the same whatever the storage system. I have the same issue as you, only because I review supplies, but I just store my most used pencils in this system. Mind you 36 of these storage system, displaying 1260 pencils would look pretty amazing. Thank you for stopping by the channel.
I keep them in pencil cases which I can put on shelves. I just happened to have my swatch books handy so they were easy to total :). It would look like a store if they were all on display (and my husband might notice).
I just looked at the prices and the shipping is almost as much as the trays, might be better to get a friend in the US to get them and send them.....maybe!
sorry but my pencils would get lost in that as they got shorter, nice for display as in retail but not practical for personnel use. I keep my pencils in Derwent carry bags in numerical order.
I really like the look of the Derwent Carry Bags, I haven't tried one of them yet but it is high on my list of to buy lol. You are right about the small pencils, but as I forgot to mention, when people use the top tray for erasers and sharpeners etc, they also place all their real tiny pencils up there, plus, you don't have to push the pencil all the way to the end, you can just place it on the end, in fact a lot of the pencils on mine are really short, just not pushed all the way through.
I looked at the Derwent bag but, aside from the fact that I don't go anywhere, I saw some reviews on quality issues and also complaints on the cost of the extra 'leaves.' It did seem like a really good idea though.
Hi Diana I personally have not had a problem with the Derwent bags they hold 176 pencils between 4 leaves which is brilliant for me, I too do not go anywhere I hang them up on a door hanger in my craft room and are easy to grab when I want a certain set of pencils.
I use a Derwent carry bag with a set of extra leaves. I think that makes 5 leaves in total. It's a bit full feeling with that many leaves, but it means everything is where I want it to be and I move my colouring from room to room or into the gardening so it's handy. If I were going out sketching I'd remove a few leaves and then I could add drawing stuff and a small drawing pad. The quality seems fine with mine. I have no idea why the cost of the extra leaves is so high though.
Thats what a lot of people use the top tray for, they put all their really tiny pencils on the top try were you can see it. But excellent point and one I forgot to talk about.
Ah I see! Excellent point! :-) But no no, I meant @ 3:10, the people who will use the trays upright! The short tiny pencils will always fall inside.. :-) As for the leveled style, yeah you can always keep the short ones reachable and not push them all the way in.. However, you can use another pencil end with a tiny piece of note gum or sticky tack, and press and pull it out.. :o)
Yes you are so right, for those that use them on the wall, they would be in trouble using it for the tiny pencils. Excellent point but I think if we look at it as the company intended, as you mentioned mate, pencil extenders will also help.
Excellent point, I never really considered people with allergies, bit selfish of me. But you have made an excellent point. I will say this mind, I am not sure how bad things need to be for people with allergies, but we have two big hairy Siberian Huskies in the house and Ive had this system for about two weeks or more now and the pencils have not developed a build up of dust, at least not for someone without allergies. I guess some of it might also depend on how often you use the pencils and moving them about etc. excellent point.
Our house is really dusty and buggy (it is old). I was wondering if it was better in the UK, lol. It does look nice if someone uses a certain set regularly though.
terri Simmers oh you are absolutely right, we used to have a few cats but sadly they have passed away of old age. But any time I would be at the fest writing or using the computer, they would jump up on the desk and walk all over the keyboard and cause all manner of problems lol. I miss them so much but you are so right and I ashamedly forgot to mention that, if our beautiful and silly cats were still with us, I well dare say that every morning I'd be picking up pencils. Excellent point Terri.
LOL. I'm not alone!!! sooo excited. My cat often has different steaks of color on his white spots from rubbing against the different pencils. My kitten walks right up to my cup and grabs one then tries taking it back to her sleep hide out.
Thank you Harry, found it here. 😊

Love the way pencils look in this unit. Thanks for doing these videos!
I love this! I would really like to see the underside of the trays and see if they will stack straight with some adaptations too. Subscribed!
Thanks for reviewing this product. It looks great, and I'll be considering it for sure!
Thanks Harry!! ❤️
Great video Harry. Thanks for showing us such a cool system. It would certainly be better than the vases and jars I use just now which I've lined with bubble wrap to protect the pencils from knocks. All the best as always, Jane :)
I am the same as you Jane, I used jars etc and layered with cotton wool on the bottom to stop the pencils shattering when dropping them in.

Judy Sand i would have stuck a short piece of drinking straw in first and then put the pencil in.
Or put the short ones all on the top layer and the other layers colour coordinated
I LOVE THIS! I already need to buy two. ☺️
kaop2015
buy to me one 🌚
These are fantastic! Love the review. Excellent.
It looks great!
Do you happen to know if termites consume colored pencils? Because I'm storing mine in a drawer with its designated tin cans or box ?
So nice
Great video Harry! 😁 Definitely a neat system.
Thank you Val and no purple screen lol
The Art Gear Guide YAY!! 😁👍🍻🎉🎆
Did you do anything different to avoid the pink/purple screen events?
Sue Wilkinson yeah it was just down to such high resolution still images. It always happened when the still images appear and so over loads of testing I reduced the resolution by half. The Art Gear Guide Thank you Harry 😄
Awesome! tfs!
This is a grat idea, for full-size/new/long pencils. When they get short.....not so much :(
If only i could art at a desk. Thatd be polycromos n prismacolor in one handy spot.
its always the taxes and the shipping that get me. now IM sad. thanks for showing me tho, maybe i can make my own.
How can I order?

good 😊
Commenting for UA-cam
50 bucks for shipping? Where are you? There’s no where in the world where it could cost that much!

@ 3:10 .. WHAAT!!!
What if the pencil becomes shorter? :-/0-
It will be completely trapped I guess..

Not good for when you have allergies and the dust goes into those tiny compartments. I prefer drawers

'Tars?'
This is not practical with cats in the house. If my scent is on the pencils they will walk away with them.

this is to much money for what it is
