Damn, Tony was right. Having this same issue at my local trails. Kids build jumps either the same size or even smaller than the first hit while going down a hill. We need more physics classes for these kids!
@@TommyHuynh dont even get me started. i dont know what to do about it since digs are illegal. basically every county in socal has a no motorized vehicles on trails law, but can't really have it be enforced. this problem is only just beginning. once the price of these things gets even lower, its going to come to a head between pedalers and throttlers. also it will create an alliance between the normal pedalers and e-pedalers. we must unite against a common foe!! lol
Kids didn’t build these jumps. I saw the builders there they were grown adults But yeah your right too a lot kids need to learn how to build before they starting working on the main trails
I rode it a few days after the last set of rains and one of the builders was working on a new line. It was way to greasy on a lot of the flat sections coming out of turns and I didn't want to screw up anything. So I stayed off all the jumps and rode what was dry. Was too hard to avoid the sketchy parts at speed so I called it a day. Great place though, if you live near it you can progress super fast here at any skill level. Good stuff again, as always Tommy!
@@JwallzMTB The guy I talked to wasn't building jumps that day, at least not those. I'm not sure who built those. I agree does look like a sea-saw. lol
hey tommy get the new chainguide, I was having the same problems as you having my chain drop nonstop. Got another chain guide similar to the new one forbidden sells, and solves my issues.
Those trails are fun even without all that jumping, I'm old so I'll leave all that jumping to you kids. Picking up my YT Decoy 29 this week, finally went on sale so I got the Core 3 in Black, no more struggling up hills for me, had other more expensive bikes in my but if YT is good enough for TommyH they're good enough for me. Probably wont be ready until later this week, I just bought it Fri, those trails should be dryer to test it out hopefully?
He doesn't ride as often and we have conflicting riding schedules so we haven't been able to ride. We originally planned to ride that day in Simi but forecast for rain much earlier so that's why I stayed in OC
high pivots arent that poppy but they will plow.. where they shine is rock gardens.. im guessing about a month more you will get really used to it specially when bike parks are open
I rebuilt the lip on that 2nd jump already. The landing still needs to be fixed, it doesn’t even line up. People can’t be changing the way long existing jumplines ride and digging holes all around the lips and landings. Someone could get hurt and that makes everyone look bad.
Thanks Tony, yeah I agree it's really cool that so many people wanna come out and help but they should be helping maintain ruts and stuff not changing existing trails. But that being said, stoked to see all the new big stuff 💪💪💪
@@TommyHuynh Many people have spoken to them but they still don’t get it that their help is just making more work for everyone. They have zero interest in maintaining the existing trails or even learning how to actually help or be responsible builders at the bike park. It takes time away from building more fun stuff, which again, they have zero interest in helping with… I like the effort and would love them to help move dirt and stack it for some bigger stuff not near the intermediate jumplines that countless people use for progression of their skills.
@@TonyToretto25 hopefully we can educate these guys to understand how to build and care for the trails.. very frustrating to have to fix peoples mistakes.. luckily young kids have a short tension spam haha
It's a high pivot, which allows the rear wheel to go back before it goes up, because of this rearward motion it lengthens the chain and requires an idler pulley. There are tons of advantages, having an extra idler pulley is one of the negatives
It seems like that frame should come with an upper guide for the chainring, or I guess it would be called a forward guide due to the angle the chain comes down from the idler. You said Forbidden claims it's because of the 9 tooth cog, but were you in that cog? I would think you would have to be going full DH track speeds or descending a road to need that gear. I usually keep it 2 or 3 cogs up when descending fast singletrack, but maybe you want more chain slack on a high pivot?
The opposite of analog is digital. At least acoustic vs electric makes more sense if you own a guitar. Why not just: e-Bike vs Mountain bike and get over it. This is not directed at you Tommy, it's the damn culture needs to get it straight before it gets really stupid. As long as we're safe and having fun it's all good!
Great stuff. Went there for first time last Saturday. Just hit the like and passed this video to my buddy 💯

whoever built those jumps obviously doesnt have a long wheel based bike lololol moon booters like that are DJ's or BMX.

What does that chain drive set up accomplish? Seems a bit arbitrary because its not set up as a true pulley. More expensive chain for sure.

I'm pretty sure I was on the smallest cog. I normally start 3rd or 4th cog and then click in a few times as we gain speed
