  • Western Pacific 165, an 060 switching steam engine, built in November 1919, used by the WP in various yards of theirs over its 30 year career before being retired in 1957. For over 40 years it was a display engine in the bay area at 2 different locations. It was returned back to Plumas County and the WPRR museum in 2006 where I was told, was the year restoration began. By luck I was visiting the museum in the afternoon April 23rd where volunteers had her all warmed up and ready to move under her own power around the balloon track, even shoving/pulling an old SP rotary and B unit , plus the WP1503 SW1500. I shot this with my Canon 6D SLR, which would explain the shaky hand held format. I wasn't expecting to come across this event!
