Apparently this was the very last official Kukkiwon masters course for foreigners ever held. Now they do all of these events at the Taekwondowon in Muju. I am honored to have been a part of the last masters certified at the actual Kukkiwon.
Wow,Mygod ! suddenly found this video in youtube. We may the last group foreign international instructors trainning in the Kukkiwon.(after us, all international instructors are trainning in the taekwondowon). Thanks for the sharing!
You can. You must be 2nd dan at least. But at 4th dan is when you get officially certified as a master. All ranks must be Kukkiwon ranks. The course costs $300, but $250 for 3rd and 2nd dan. Later at 4th dan you pay $50 for the certification. The most expensive part is flying to Korea and staying in a hotel. But for me I live in Korea and I worked here so I didn't have to do that.
It is HOT and humid in Seoul during the summer, I went to the Kukkiwon last week and was dying in that humidity. A lot of schools do not teach the Korean names for techniques, so you can see the language barrier is difficult at times.
Oh I know man. Luckily, I knew a lot of them from before but there were new ones and it can be difficult to hear the real Korean accent. The Kukkiwon is soooo hot! I hear they are tearing it down and rebuilding it. Kind of sad because of the history inside it.
