Oh my gosh 🧚‍♀️Tinkerbell! You have been through tough adversity these last few weeks, but always in good spirts, smiling and looking at life on the bright side! Despite your falls and the challenge of the snows, ascending and descending in terrain conditions that is outside your element...you are a total trooper! 👊🏻 You still manage to film some incredible scenery, edit and upload the vids too! Funny mating ritual of the Sooty Grouse. Poor male, doing all that dancing and fanning for the female whose like, "Whatever dude...talk to my backside!" 😂 Happy trails to you all! 🌺

Sooty grouse. Really cool you saw the male displaying. The flowers are shooting stars, one of my favorites. The Sierras have some of the biggest I've seen anywhere. Can't get over how much more snow there is this year over last.

Mary what a wonderful video it still amazes me you edit them on your phone, plus all the uploading you do when you are in town. The scenery you get to see each day is incredible, but my word you and the guys have to work for it especially with your injuries 😳 I'm loving the new look 😍 Happy hiking my incredible sweetheart 😘😘

Those aren't Wild Turkeys or Sage Grouse either. That's a pair of Sooty Grouse. Great footage of the mating display.

Bishop is somehow the centre of the world. I'm following you since you started. I flew over from Europa for a 4 week roadtrip last week. I did some hiking in Yosemite and Tuolumne meadows, Lyell canyon. Two days ago I ended up in Bishop as well at a nice car camping spot. And I also had to re-supply there. Very nice and friendly town.
I'll go on to Arizona and Utah and do some more hiking there.
    Happy happing...

The Sooty grouse were awesome., also the wildflowers you were wondering about are shooting stars. Bummer about the fall. Like all of your fans I hope you are ok and can continue. Since it is labor day in real time the suspense on how far you have made it is like a mystery. I look forward to seeing the rest of your journey. Keep smiling!

The half way point is like “let’s get moving and get her done!” Just get your rest and put them hard milers in because Oregon and Washington in late October is a tough trek, happy trails and hike on! 🍻 you got this. I just finished the Pacific Northwest Trail and it was rough bushwhacking. Not a popular trail.

Great video of the mating Grouse. Extremely lucky to have seen. I felt sorry for the fellow showing himself in all his glory and she is totally bored. By the way, the flower you talked about is commonly called "dogtooth Violet"(it in the lily family). It is pretty common all over the hemisphere. There is even a variation that lives here in the chaparral in San Diego County. I was totally surprised by that since usually you find it in wetter conditions.

That little beauties are a Sooty Grouse, just courting a possible mate. Another day full of the wonders of the Sierra Nevada. That Purple and Yellow flower appears to be a Sierra Shooting Star wildflower. What are you doing to yourself, glad you have a good tramily to give you support. SAFE HIKING

I don't think those birds are turkeys. Turkeys are a good bit larger. Maybe they're Grouse. Sorry about your fall. It happens to everyone.

  • @tommckinney1489

I thought the bird was a turkey the first time I saw it, but I don't believe that's right. It's a Sooty Grouse. nemesisbird.com/photography/photo-study-photography/sooty-grouse-sierra-nevada-mountains/ Anyway, nice views of the trail. Hope you and your trembly heal quickly. Hike On!
