Second installment!! Knocked it out of the park! I can feel the pain on your face and the relief after every pass completed. One step, one mile, one pass!! Thats gonna be my mantra next year
I pulled of my SOBO hike if the JMT at Onion Valley. I didn’t expect the emotions watching this video but it makes me determined to finish my hike out on Mt Whitney. Thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed this video. This section of the trail is worth coming back and visiting again. If you can get out there to finish your hike, I highly recommend it. It's just so incredibly beautiful out there! This is a big reason why I've now hiked through this section of trail twice. I might even do it for a third time...
Just when I think wow, what a gorgeous mountain lake/river, another one pops up right behind it. The scenery was stark at the higher elevations but that water more than made up for it. Thanks so much for sharing Kathleen!
Thank you! Part 3: The End will go live next Sunday so be sure to follow along. I'm glad no one was hurt either and still really sad I couldn't score that helicopter ride up to the pass. Maybe next time. Hahahaha!
Really glad you were able to get a restful town visit to feel better for the rest of the JMT. So glad to see you back out enjoying the beautiful hike and nature. Ride That Tasty Wave
Tell me about it. COVID isn't over, even out here on the trail. Just when I thought I was one of the lucky ones who hadn't gotten it, BAM, I get it right before the start of my hike. I can't think of a better place to self-isolate than outside and up in the mountains though, even if it made my hike 100 times harder.
I’m sure you mean hikers dealing with positive Covid tests. It’s disappointing that you bought into a test that doesn’t test for Covid. But that’s your call.
Thank you for your videos. I live in Washington too and have been section hiking the pct the past few years. Just finished section k in Washington. My friend and I have talked about doing part of the JMT. I'm curious how you prepared for the elevation? Going from sea level to 10, 000 seems like it would be a challenge. I'd love to hear your tips. Thanks so much!
Such beautiful scenery. Every time I watch your videos i want to try backpacking then I get scared because I think I'm too old to try it (58 in November). Do you have an ankle brace to recommend? I fractured my ankle 2-1/2 years ago and walking on uneven ground makes me feel unstable. Hope you are all recovered and feeling great from your bout with COVID. Not sure if I missed you saying something in the videos so far, but did your friends manage to avoid catching it? I feel like I'm one of those lucky ones that's never had it either (knock on wood!). LOVE your channel !!! I live vicariously through you.
You are NEVER too old to try hiking or backpacking. If backpacking is something you want to do, you should get out there and try it out. This is a HUGE reason why I created my online program, The Confident Solo Female Backpacker System. (shameless plus here - hahahaha!) But seriously, many of my students have come to me wanting to try backpacking, solo or not, for years and have always talked themselves out of trying it for one reason or another. My mission is to help inspire other women to get out of their own way and get out on trail. If this is something you want to do, there's no reason why you shouldn't give it a try. Ankle brace - I don't have a specific brace in mind to recommend. The one I carry in my first aid kit was gifted to me by another hiker and I unfortunately have no idea what brand, model or make it is. As for COVID on the JMT, I was the only one in my group who had it. My friends never got COVID and all tested negative when we came into Bishop. Being outside out on trail, we were all naturally social distancing by hiking at our own paces and sleeping in our own tents. I was the lucky one who got to suffer through COVID while we were out there. Luck of the draw I guess.
The priority is always to try and get to a lower elevation as possible. You don't want to be the tallest thing standing in the area. This is why hiking up to and standing on the top of Mt. Whitney did not sound like a good idea.

Thank you!! It was always such a huge victory for me getting up and over each one of those passes!!
You rock the mosquito net hat !!
They were eating me ALIVE!!!
So basically the helicopter was the world's most expensive Instacart delivery. Glad you recovered quickly.
Beautiful video as always. Travel safe.

Thank you!
Wow the scenery was so beautiful 😻
Tell me about it. Sometimes it didn't even look real with my own eyes.
I can’t believe the number of hikers dealing with Covid this year! I’m just happy it isn’t too severe this time around!

@@garystone9973 Save the politics. Not on this channel. That's my call. :)

I’ll be putting together a video showing how I planned and prepared for this hike soon. Stay tuned!

Did you cold soak or add boiling water to your meals?
I don't cold soak my meals ever. Stove life baby!!!
What editing software do you use
I use iMovie to edit my videos.
I was wondering, what do you do in a storm when it is lightening?
Also have u ever considered hiking tbe Centennial Trail?

Shouldn't it be the . . . oh, I'm the one with the volume all the way up . . .
