    Fixed my VSX-D409! This was great! I used rubbing alcohol and a tiny bit of WD-40 to re-lube. This has been broken for over 10 years! Thank you Francesco!

    This is an extremely rare, highly blessed instructional video that contains exactly the right amount of information. Nothing important is left out and nothing unnecessary is included. The pacing is perfect and so is the camera placement, lighting and clarity. I commend you and thank you for the valuable knowledge. Be well.

    I just purchased this VSX409. I got it home and the volume was not working. I found your fabulous video. I followed your exact instructions and it works beautifully. Thank you so much. A great piece of equipment working due to you!

    Thanks for this excellent video! On my VKSD-509S I didn't need to unplug anything (except the 120v). I was able to pull the face off and get to the screws of the volume encoder holding the front display a little to the side of the receiver. Also, I pulled the knob off the circuit board, holding the face of the receiver instead of pulling the circuit board from the knob. Thanks again for giving me the confidence to fix my volume stuck at max. OH - I also used CRC QD Electronic Cleaner without a brush. I sprayed both ends of the encoder and blotted it clean with a shop towel.

    I completely agree with gvhagopia, from 1 year ago: clear, concise, just what I needed to know, no more or less. Saved a nice amp that I'd had in the giveaway pile for a couple years. Now enjoying our local community radio station in my basement workshop. Thank you!

    Fixed one, exact same problem. Looks like pioneer's original lubricant turns into sticky gummy mess after aging...

    Many thanks for video. But you do not need to remove whole front panel for that repair. You can unscrew encoder board only (it's very easy, bacause there is great access from the side.).

    Magnificent! This works as well for my VSX1015. It's as new again. Thanks.

      My 1015 just started acting up. The volume knob has to be turned VERY slowly in order to work at all and it sometimes goes the wrong direction! Was this similar to what you experienced on your 1015?

    Does this also fix volume fluctuations/cutting out in certain channels? I have a VSX-816 that certain speakers work as you put some pressure on the knob as you're turning it - they go in and out. It's progressively gotten worse recently and some channels won't stay in or they work better when the volume is higher. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

    Mine was still working a little bit, not completely out yet. I followed these instructions exactly, cleaning all the crud out so it looked spotless. I didn't scrub, only sprayed, but now my volume knob doesn't work at all. Was there a step not shown, am I suppose to put new electrode grease on it or something?

    • @frab88
      @frab88  4 роки тому +2

      Hi, the grease doesn't improve electric contact, It should prevent oxidation only. In your case I woukd double check that the volume knob case is closed correctly. The two spring contacts have to be pushed against the wheel in order for the knob to work.

    Thanks..mine has this problem and k don't have the heart to get rid of this beautiful old school amp.
    Any ideas on why it always defaults to factory settings if the power is off for a few days??

      Check for any battery on the main board and replace it if necessary.

    I tried to fix one of these once and failed. It was actually an amp i got fairly cheap but then i lent it to someone who left to a different country and didn't bother to give it back. On top of that the building he had been living in was demolished. I never did track it down.
