You would never think, but one of the best Italian restaurants we've ever enjoyed was in Playa Del Coco in a little mall about half a mile north of the main street. We have such wonderful memories of our time there and immediately considered buying a condo. Ticoffia was such a wonderful cafe!!
Thank you for your comment and sharing the restaurant information. A wave of Italians settled in the Playas del Coco area back in the 1990's bringing their passion for food to the area.
This Is my favorite beach, I love it. I enjoy to eat the famous "copos" or granizados. When I go there, I usually stay at Chikuky Villages. I am from Costa Rica 🇨🇷.
fabulous! want to be back there soon
Wow it really has changed. I spent every summer there in the 70's 80's . My family had owned the last 8 houses towards the very end. Then I heard a marina was coming and the houses would have to go. I love beautiful Costa Rica. So many memories of Playas del Coco walking with the cousin's. They'd call me gringa tica .
Hi Thanks for sharing. Yes, major changes since those years when there was very little construction back then. Regards
show us some photos of the town from the 70s & 80s. we would love to see them. My wife and i love that small town. its our favorite place out of the United States!
Great video Coco. Note how clean it is. Not always that perfect but it's one of the cleanest international places you'll ever see. LOVE that town!
I loved that beach. The black sand does wonders for your skin. Going back next month
Awesome video. I visted Costa Rica few month before Covid I would say it's heaven on earth until now I talk about it. We're going to buy a house in Costa Rica to be our vacation home.... I would live to be my home but we have our grandchildren here in the US Iam going to make my son come and visit Costa Rica and he might change his mind living in the US. Thanks for sharing a beautiful part of heaven.
Thank you for watching and commenting. Costa Rica does have a special attraction and lifestyle to offer that is different and a great place to get away from it all.
LOVED it !!! Shows the beauty of Coco !!!
Husband and I went the summer before covid. It was wonderful. People are so nice and welcoming
Glad to hear you enjoyed your visit and hope to see you back in Costa Rica. Thank you for watching the video and commenting.
We were there in '97. It's changed a lot.
Gracias... for the narration and also for the little bits of conversation en espanol con los ticos. It's great to see authentic interaction by the locals with a local person (you). Thanks. A good variety of images and points of view. Cheers, and Pura Vida!
Loved Playa Del CoCo, we did theSunset Catamaran from Coco beach, it was spectacular saw whales, dolphins, turtles, Amazing tour.
Thanks for sharing and glad to hear you had a great time and were able to see whales, dolphins and turtles during your tour.
Thank u so much for this! I miss Costa Rica so much:(( can’t wait to go back n take my parents! We stayed in Pacifico n it was so beautiful. U brought me that inner Tica feeling again❤️
Thank you for your feedback. Summer is starting in Costa Rica and we had beautiful day today with blue skies and great weather. Hope to see you back soon.
Thanks for the video. We just booked a trip for 6 nights to Playa del Coco in March 2022. First trip to Costa Rica.
Thank you for watching. I hope you have a great time. Check out Playa Hermosa as well which is next to Playas del Coco and Playa Ocotal also nearby
Been there 4 times so nice older folks 50 60 70 not for young kids
I went there when I was around 13 and it was fine
Been checking out Coco and Tamarindo. Seems there are a lot more choices to buy condos in the Tamarindo area plus more conveniences like markets and shopping.
Can anyone recommend a North American expat realtor to work with? I'm figuring from a legal standpoint that would be the best way to go.
@@pattyriemann5850 We bought in Puerto Vallarta, and found the best way is to grab some real estate booklets where they advertise and look for English speaking agents and make sure they have been selling in that area for at least 5 years so they are not just new agents. You also want one who knows a real estate English speaking lawyer. My theory is if I can’t understand what you are saying, you don’t understand what I want to buy. Good luck
Que hermosa!
del pacifico the map did not show, thanks for the video, love the place
Thanks for watching and commenting
Paradise on earth does exist?
Nice video 👍
I miss hanging out at the Tortuga Bar while waiting for the water taxi back to RIU Guanacaste Hotel. Johnny B is a great host.
I stayed at RIU for part of my first trip to CR. I was on the beach when an earthquake hit Nicaragua. I took note of the cessation and change in the waves hitting the beach at the time. People felt it a lot in the pool & hotel.
We are visiting soon. Right now we are in the Lake Arenal area!
That will be a nice drive from Arenal down to the coast. Enjoy it !
You must have been there during the week because the weekend is much more populated, particularly Domingo! To the North is Playa Hermosa and it is a bit more tranquilo and beautiful! In Verano 2019 anyways,
Thanks for the comment. Correct visited during the week (Wed) during the offseason so it was quieter. Playa Hermosa is a great option as well.
It has changed a lot since I was there in 2003
Yes, it has. With the current surge in interest again I suspect it will change even more in the next couple of years
I've lived in neighboring Playa Hermosa for 8 years. The only time I go to Coco, is for grocery shopping. The Playa Hermosa beach is cleaner and more tranquil! Coco has done little or nothing, to improve the infrastructure as a tourist location.
Great
Thank you for watching and for your feedback
COOL YA ....
Es como Cinta Costera en Panamá.
The ocean didn't have much surf. It was like a lake. Is it always that calm and still? I did see some land masses sticking out, maybe that breaks up the waves.
Yes by sitting in that bay it is generally pretty calm. That is the great diversity that Costa Rica has. You have many different kinds of beaches to choose from. For surfing beaches here is the link to Costa Rica surf crsurf.com/costa-rica-surf-beaches/#north-pacific
Is it safe to leave cars in the downtown area or do they have watcher men?
I prefer to leave the car in a paid parking lot. However I have parked in 2nd Avenue and near the Civil Registry area in the street and have not had any issues and yes paid the watcher men
they got rid of thee mini dock? you could go there at night and feed the small sharks. don't worry they didn't hang during the day or bìte anyone. looks the filled in the beach and made it longer to.
Considering buying a condo there towards the end of next year. Thanks!
Thank you for commenting and wish you the best for 2021 ! I have been seeing alot of interest in that area of Playas del Coco and Playa Hermosa.
@@CostaRicaLaw thank you. I would like to find a good North American expat realtor to work with, preferably a woman. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you!
@@pattyriemann5850 If you can send me an e-mail to my contact form I can respond back with some of the persons we have worked with in the area of El Coco and Playa Hermosa.
@@CostaRicaLaw Not sure what contact form you mean or where to find it. Thx
@@pattyriemann5850 Sorry about that forgot to attach the link. Here you go. costaricalaw.com/contact/
At @4:05 how do you get to this location?
That is a development above El Coco there is a turn off to the right near the Pacifico Beach Club which heads up in that direction. There is also access from the road that goes from Playas del Coco to Playa Hermosa.
good video, it would be interesting to see the details, prices, everyday life. from Europe Costa Rica is a mistery, and we have no possibilities to get informations ...
Than you. That is a great idea for my next project focusing on the basic costs of living in Costa Rica. Regards
@@CostaRicaLaw ok thanks, regards
@Robb Skipper nice summary of the situation. do you know any "secret" place where someone can live in peace and is not so much overrated?
On the other hand, believe me, almost in every tourist center the same happens, police tries to cover crimes so that they can have good statistics and tourist can feel safe. it can be Greece or Croatia or even Hungary, your description would be valid in each place ... this is the sad reality. Money is god, so .... the state commites all possible to make a great imagen for the tourist region.
@Robb Skipper hello, it was very useful to read your description. in my oppinion Costa Rica is also overrated, but something called my attention: do you really think Sri Lanka could be a nice place to live (even forever)? OK, apart from the problem with women, do you think, is that country less expensive and also safe enough to live there for an European person? It would be really really interesting, but it is very difficoult to get informations about the country. Have you ever been there? thanks, regards
Most of Costa Rica is beautiful and clean, but I found this place too commercial and frankly, I don't know what time of the year this was, but that beach is always crowded, parking is usually filled, and the beach was a bit dirty. Yes, the Pacifo area is pristine and the staff are welcoming. They have a great laundry service as well. The nearby automercado supermarket is delightful--one of my favorites! Also, there is good medical care there, for both people and their pets in town. Restaurants are great and the fresh fruit/vegetable markets are WONDERFUL The weather is great there, too. But in all of CR, it wouldn't be my "go to" beach, but it's a short drive from the airport making it pretty convenient. For a little more time to drive, I prefer the trek to La Cruz..
I’d could live there comfortably I’m just to poor
Problem with Guanacaste it's just to dam hot.
Yes, it can get hot in Guancaste specially in the Costa Rican summer season which runs from December-May. I think we are lucky in Costa Rica to have many different micro climates within short distances. That way people who don't like the heat can live in the Central Valley and then visit the beach.
A lot of criminals around this beach. Look at fences around houses.. Beach itself is dirty, no public washrooms at all.
