For years I've been trying to understand this and whilst I get the concept, see these 'real-life' examples are amazing. One of the best lessons I've seen on this. Thank you and great work!
I feel that you are one of the best tutor on youtube, simple language, concise and very understandable exercises. Continue to do the fantastic job. Will be learning a lot from you!!
I have been playing guitar for forever and can "hear" how jazz sounds, but this concept on "how" to actually use chromatic notes with enclosures really brought it home for me. Thanks Nathan!
Great explanation of enclosures. You mention the term “jazz language” in the enclosure video lesson. I think it would be valuable to have several lessons on jazz language. If someone is new to jazz, what jazz language would you give to provide the basic tools? What jazz language should your intermediate students know to play basic solos. What basic language should advanced students know?
thank you very much for your video . Its very easy for me to understand as a beginner , Pls send me a link of your first lesson to start jazz Thank u again .
Hi Barneyang. I suppose I could do a short video sometime on my personal set up. I did however make a video in the past covering tone. In that video I used my ribbon mic and go into detail on how I approach tone. Hopefully this can help you in the meantime! ua-cam.com/video/MtU06fR26JQ/v-deo.html
Hi Guillermo. I do provide private lessons! Give me an email at nkborton@gmail.com and we can talk about it if your wanting to look further in the route.
Greetings Nathan thanks for sharing great video is very informative. Would like to see more about enclosures. Can you send a link or title for review. Also, I would very much like to see 4 and 5 note enclosure tutorial. Thanks again for sharing awesome video.
Hi Nathan, loved this lesson, however the actual examples on the guitar were obscured by the tablature, is there any chance that you could revisit this or provide a link to any other lessons you may have done?
Hi Tim. Thanks for the feedback! Yes, this was one of the earlier videos. Though the content is good, the production is a bit lacking (as well as my ability to speak at the camera haha). I like the idea of redoing some of the older popular videos. I'll look into it!
Hi Nicolos, try the link again (reposted it). If it doesn't work then try clicking the "UA-cam downloads" tab on my website again so it reloads. That seems to fix it most of the time as well. I don't :/ but I have a PayPal (www.paypal.me/nborton1) or buying my new record helps a lot too :) (nathanborton.com/store/sample-album-02-wav-fb8m9)
Hi Manuel, thanks for checking out the video! Yes, this was one of my earlier videos and I was still figuring out how to make them. If you check out me newer videos you'll find them easier to understand (at least visually). Thanks!

2:32 well you've played d natural instead of d sharp
thanks for pointing that out
Or you can use it as part of the tune itself..as in " pay no attention to what's said"
Why do you hide the guitar below the partiture???? I prefer to see the guitar... very interesting the video!!! Thanks :.-)
