That was what I liked best when I worked for county highway Department plowing snow. Chris you done a great job clearing the area. You have yourself a wonderful rest of the day!!!!
I remember using a push snowblower to clean my lot when I first started. We live in Northern Ontario so we get a lot of snow. I was too cheap to pay someone to do it because I wanted to invest my money in more loads of wood. Fast forward 5 years, I now have a John Deere tractor with a heated cab and I front mounted snow blower. Like is certainly easy now compared to back then. I appreciate and I'm grateful for all that I have. You and I are very similar my friend. I love your stories. Thank you for sharing.
Wow ! Living in a snow white country is absolutely beautiful but sure needs a lot of work and machinery to go along with it. This is so awesome to watch. Thank you
Fun times pushing snow with your new pusher. Yes a few minor adjustments where you stack but I'm sure you will get it right so you have a few more long runs to push to. Now let's make some deliveries to get that cash rolling in again! Great video Chris as always 👍 Be well my friend ☃️
Chris, Appears to-be working well, like Trees, snow is always different. Never had a pusher, bought a Bobcat Snowblade many years ago, Anything over 12” deep, I just use the bucket one scoop at a time. Take Care My Friend 🚜👍🏼🇺🇸
Good morning Chris!!😀😀 The more times you plow it the better you will get at it. Nice part about the pusher compared to the snow blower is if it's windy you don't get covered with snow if you have to move it into the wind. Take care my friend!!😀😀 TTYL!!
Morning/ night Al, yup, it is working out pretty good for now, I am not looking forward to the big pile of 12-20" of heavy wet stuff though! That is always a real treat! HA!
Good morning from Downeast Maine. Obviously you made the right decision when you bought the snow pusher. Years ago, I used to plow with my tractor, and that worked fine for me because I plowed driveways. Now I have the best of both worlds, I have a Super Duty with a 9'-2" v-plow! The v is great for deep snow and I can also angle right or left. And if I have a volume of snow to move, just angle both wings forward and you have a huge scoop. Anyway, have a great day, I'm going to do wood today also!
I do not have a glow plug on my tractor. I have had it since 2005. Our temps only get down around 0-10 degrees Fahrenheit for a week or two. Then back around 30 degrees. Mine has started with no problem for years. I have thought about putting one on but have not had any problems. Love the different videos you offer
hi there sure is good that there are people like you that keep on going in the cold and snow or the world would stop . 28 and windy here today my world will stop . keep up all the hard and cold work john
Another great video Chris! Enjoy all of them. That was a great Elk and demonstration of teamwork cutting firewood. They could use a nice Eastonmade splitter for sure. That snow pusher works great for you. Always enjoy your videos that cover new products, thanks to you I now own 5 new Fiskars products 😀. Have a blessed week!
Glade your liking the snow pusher. I bought a plow because I pile the snow along the fence that runs parallel to the driveway. It be nice to have both. Sure wish I had a third function.
I have a 23 hp compact tractor..I fabricated my own snow pusher..it's 6 feet wide...on the back I have a 6 foot scraper blade on the 3 point hitch . Instead of back dragging with the pusher..I back up to buildings..sidewalks etc and pull it forward with the scraper blade far enough to back up and use the pusher . It saves a lot of time . My tractor is small enough to do sidewalks as well. Just throwing the idea out there..they are reasonable new..but I bought a used one in near mint condition for $100 and I use it year round for grading stone..dirt..etc
Great job Chris it looks good. Good thing you had your trash picked up before the snow. You might want to think about opening up the woods by the creek to be able to push snow easier.
Chris, Try using the walk-behind snowblower first to throw all of the snow out of the corners and tight spots out to a place it can be pushed by the tractor. You may consider this for around the woodpiles too. Great video.....
Boy you have the life! My goal is to still plow snow but do it at my own property, after a couple cups of coffee lol. My new skid steer is remote control ready so I could even do it from the comfort of my house looking out lol
The technique you were talking about in the beginning reminds me of when I leaf rake. I start close to the pile and rake all them, instead of starting at the other end and having a six foot pile that's getting bigger and pushing it eighty feet, that's heavy and breaks my rake.
Get yourself a box grader for the rear, add weight while pushing, and solves your corner issue. Very clean job too. I have had both I do prefer the pusher.
I think your thoughts on the pusher vs plow are right on. A pusher sure looks like a better option for parking lots and large open areas. Also, that's all I see the pros using in big parking lots. I have a plow for my long narrow driveway but there's no where to push the snow other than the ditches and its over a 1/4 mile long. Even so there are areas when a pusher would be great like in front of my garage and parking area. You always do your homework anyway so don't worry about the noise.
One suggestion that you previously mentioned that can save you some time, money, and frustration in the future. Set the pusher down and tilt it so it is sitting flat on the skid shoes, then make your tape mark or whatever on the level indicator rod. Always try to hit that mark. When you have it tilted back you will wear on the back of the skids and wear out your rubber edge prematurely.
@In The Woodyard float doesn’t level the pusher, it just lets the arms ride up and down to follow the ground. Watch the video and you will see the the pusher tilted back towards the tractor
Morning Chris! OK so now the Snow pusher works great for the light fluffy stuff. Now I think you need to buy a giant snowblower for the front of your tractor For the heavier wet snow😆😂😂 I kind of like spending your money🤣 I also like ribbing you every now and then! GNI
good morning, Chris! Like all great things it takes time and practice to work it out. i have doubled my wood yard as well to over 600 face cords (if you prefer) for future sales and less snow "parking" area,s? growing pains will happen! good day.
That extra space you are plowing leaves lots of room for more truck loads. 😁 When you were running around the yard I saw piles of logs I had forgotten about. When does your studio business slow down? Oh and don't break your window, buy a sawmill, firewood processor, huge quanset huts, and all those other things that will take up all your Benjamins!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣.
I see you found the cement curb marker @ 8 03 / 23 33. I said that you should have went to Lowes to buy those 6' orange fiberglass poles to mark those types of things under the snow. 🤣🤣❄☃❄☃. I bet you bent the pusher again. I think tour pusher is not riding on the ground the whole way, looks like you have it tilted back a little. You might be wearing the back of it. I have used this and a snow plow before. You need a good Sun Glasses to prevent Snow Blindness 😎
Here in Piqua I dread the thought of getting out my snow blower. Last year frosty the snowman. Got arrested for indecent exposure. Pulled his pants down. Heard the snow blower was coming up the street. have a wonderful day.
That pusher did a good job! I thought it would be quicker than snowblowing, but i see your point. Once you do it a few times you will be a pro. How does it do in Grass? That is what i would be curious on. Great video Chris! Always great to see the different content that you produce.
The pusher seems to be doing a good job. It looks like it backblades pretty good too. Is it saving you time over the snowblower? OK you answered my question at the end. I was commenting while watching 🤣🤣 GNI I always watch until the end!!!
Nice camera and tractor work Chris. Looks like you got the snow pusher figured out / worked ok. Deep/drifted snow will be more of a challenge, but you like challenges-right? GNI
Is it soon time to get some truck loads firewood poles? Then you have less area to remove snow. It is so good that you get so much snow. We have here in Finland only 50cm now. But now is here -22C. I certainly want to send all our coming snow to you , and all this cold weather too.
Just a suggestion, do your entrance first. Push it into your main area then when you do the main parking lot push it with all the other. And you said it, you need main isles in the wood yard for less snow movement.
I'm thinking you have the right tool for the job, especially with the cutting edge not being steel - your sod would be needing lots of attention come spring time with a metal cutting edge. That is a retention pond - meant to retain the storm water run off from your building and parking lot, allowing that water that might have been absorbed by the ground but can't now cause of building / pavement to be slowly released avoiding erosion. I get the idea of pushing your snow into it but I would be cautious. Where I live way over here in Atlantic Canukistan we often get heavy rain events in winter when the ground is froze. Water has to go somewhere. My concern is if it's full of snow buildup you are decreasing the volume the retention pond can retain, defeating the purpose. Maybe over there in Winter-consin you don't get the south-easters bring wind and rain in the winter. Good job with the pusher, glad to see your letting the tractor warm up - cold is hard on them. I've a little experience plowing with a tractor with a traditional snow plow blade, and lots of experience plowing with a truck and plow blade. If the plow blades are so much better than the pusher why is everyone adding "wings" to their plow blades? :P You'll find what works best for you. Money well spent on the pusher IMHO. Keep after it!
It is working great so far. We do not usually have fast thaws in the spring, it takes forever. My detention "pond" or as I like to call it waste of valuable space, and money, is a great place for the snow . The supposed drain tube , a 10" pvc tube running to the back of the property has NEVER had water go through it in 20 years, the water just sits there in the ground in front of it for a day or so and then drains down in the soil and disappears. It is a waste of the $25,000 for plans and in DNR approvals I had to spend on it. My rant is done now. Sorry Brian.
Good morning Chris and ITW Gang! What are your thoughts on tree service wood being dropped? Is it not worth the time? I know some cons are you get whatever gnarly stuff comes your way but if it’s free is it still not worth the effort? Just wanted to know your thoughts, thanks!
Great question A and S. Tree service wood is great if you can get it delivered and it is not ALL of the junk wood, crotches, limbs, pieces and low grade wood like willow, cottonwood, box elder, spruce, etc. IF you can get the better wood and you are just getting started with firewood or cutting for yourself, then yes it is a good thing. Be picky and build up a relationship with the tree service so that they understand you can help them if you can get the better wood. That might mean giving them a hand from time to time. Good luck!
You're getting the hang of it the only Vice that I could give is on your parking lot there if you only took a three-quarter swipe of the wind of your pusher then you wouldn't likely unless it was a big snow to get that snow Edge I call it and have to take another pass it should handle it but other than that I think you're doing great and the other thing you'll find is by clearing the snow off of all that area around your wood you'll find that it'll be a lot drier and firmer come spring
That's what we got here Friday night into Saturday past 25 to 30 + CM wet heavy snow rain freezing rain all mixed in the middle of it it was Heavy portion Saturday and then today this afternoon it went from 1 degrees this morning 2 - 12 this afternoon now -15 with -21 windshield overnight and tomorrow Nova Scotia Canada and that's degrees Celsius
Chris even an experienced operator would have to plow the site a few times before they figured out the best way to do it. With the heavy wet snow you might be better to use a small portion of the pusher and let it fill up as you go across the lot. If you use the whole pusher and make a short run then back up and push again and back up you'll be driving on the snow before you push it. If it's wet that will pack down quickly and make scraping a lot harder.
Are you happy with the size of pusher? I have the same tractor and was wondering how big it would handle? We never get wet snow. Always cold fluffy stuff.
Hey I am a very small firewood supplier in oregon and want to expand. I am on a tight budget but looking to get a old truck and trailer to start delivering a cord of wood to my customers. What do you suggest?
Good question Jacob! First off, cut as much firewood as you can as soon as you can and cut the stuff people want in your area. Basically, build up inventory, it takes time to do that and for the wood to dry. What do you have for a truck now, how much can you haul with it and is it dependable. A 5x8 3,000 lb. trailer is all you need to start. With that you can haul 2 face cords or 2/3 of a full cord. That is all you need. Find a good used one or borrow one, that is what I did for a full year. I wish you the best in your new venture, now get cuttin'!
The worst thing about leaving a tractor outside is it ruins the seat prematurely. They just don't stand up to the constantly changing elements and will crack and split. Dave
Never lived anywhere that it snows so the whole process is a bit alien to me. Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper relying on your weather cycles to melt any snow/ice. I don't know what they are either but from memory in your previous videos any snow seems to disappear pretty quickly.
No, the snow keeps piling up and if you do not clear it , you will have a LOT of ice that lasts for many months, like 4-5 months! Some time the end of March!
Because I like being OUTside as much as possible and I am on and off the tractor a lot and a cab is for people who don't get off much for one, thing also I intend on using it in the woods a lot and cabs don't live long in the woods.
That was what I liked best when I worked for county highway Department plowing snow. Chris you done a great job clearing the area. You have yourself a wonderful rest of the day!!!!
Thanks John! Plowing is fun....for a while!

Yep
Wow !

Yes, for the deep snowfalls the bucket may be the way to get it done, or just do multiple rounds while it is coming down.
Good morning Chris!!😀😀
The more times you plow it the better you will get at it.
Nice part about the pusher compared to the snow blower is if it's windy you don't get covered with snow if you have to move it into the wind.

Thanks John, yup, I just keep moving , no sense in sitting around, time is not going to stop and wait!
G’afternoon Chris. Looks fun ! You’re becoming most best on the tractor ! Thanks for the sweet views and angles. GoodNightIrene
Thanks for the kind words, I am up to 70 hours in the seat lifetime now!
The pusher looked pretty darn good for your needs . So many options , everything has advantages and disadvantages .
Yup, it seems to be working good so far!

You obviously made the best choice with the pusher. And since it is your money, get what you want. Nice work.
Thanks Tim, it is nice to be reassured and not be told what what I should have done!
Morning Chris keep warm today .
Yes, today it was -10 when I got up with a wind chill of -25!!!!
Looks like it’s working great. You need a sheepskin for that seat for the winter- your rear end will thank you!
Yes, that would be nice or should I say, wool be nice! HA!
@@InTheWoodyard not baaaadddd!
Great POV footage. The rubber edge pushers work great on gravel and dirt. A metal edge plow would have been digging in constantly. Dave
Thanks, it is working good so far!
Great job Chris it looks good. Good thing you had your trash picked up before the snow. You might want to think about opening up the woods by the creek to be able to push snow easier.
I have enough space now,and soon it will be full of logs!!! Yippeeee!
Chris, Try using the walk-behind snowblower first to throw all of the snow out of the corners and tight spots out to a place it can be pushed by the tractor. You may consider this for around the woodpiles too. Great video.....

Ha! Really, remote control???? NO!
Looking good running the snow plow 👍. Lots of empty space in the wood yard to be refilled soon to have dry wood for next fall. 😲
Yup, lots of room for truck loads!
The technique you were talking about in the beginning reminds me of when I leaf rake. I start close to the pile and rake all them, instead of starting at the other end and having a six foot pile that's getting bigger and pushing it eighty feet, that's heavy and breaks my rake.

It will take a few times of pushing snow to figure out how and where to push the snow. Nice job, looks great

Another big advantage to the pusher is less damage to sod than a plow or bucket would do. Particularly when you get snow before sod freezes!
Yes that is true!
Snow pusher seems to work well! Looks cold!
Yup, it is doing it's thing!

👍 experience is a great teacher, you'll figure it out.
Yes, for sure, I learn best by doing and making mistakes, lots of them, sometimes over and over ! HA!
While everything is frozen, now would be the time to get many loads of logs from John, and cut them up in the spring.
Larry, that is the plan!!
Are you happy with the size of pusher? I have the same tractor and was wondering how big it would handle? We never get wet snow. Always cold fluffy stuff.
Yes I am! It was the recommended size to get. 7'
Well the snow pusher, seems like a good deal. Like to see what it does in a foot of heavy wet snow the heavy stuff.
So far so good , yes a big heavy wet snow will not be as fun!
Pusher saves many trips back and forth with a snow blower u will get it figured out and it will benefit ur needs!!
Yup, it is working good so far, thanks Jack!
Well that sure beats the wee snow blower you used last year
Yup, by a bunch!
GNI....like that a lot my friend.
Thanks Tom!
Why not have both I have snow blade with quick attached pusher just like skidsteer uses
WE do, we have a skid steer now too...that was 4 years ago now.
Practice makes perfect.. 😁👍
You got that right!
Can't remember in a previous video if you said that the rear tires on the tractor are filled. If they aren't, definitely do so. It will help greatly.
Yes they are and I have an extra 600 pounds on the back too.
You should be loading it into your trailer and selling it to people who don’t have snow and want it Chris 😜
HA! I wish!!!
👍 That looked fun
It was, but do not tell my wife!
@@InTheWoodyard lol!!!
Looks like fun.
Yup, it is!!
Fun to watch the pushing happen!!! GNI.
Thanks Brian, it IS fun, just don't tell my wife! HA!
@@InTheWoodyard encourage her to get out there on the tractor. She would really enjoy It I’d bet. My wife loves mowing the yard with the rider.
It takes time you will get there.
Yup, it is working good so far!
Chris looks like you need more wood so you have less area to clear lol.
YES! Exactly!
Is Kenny going to get a 390xp
@@InTheWoodyard I just have a Ford ranger...looking to get something bigger
Are you now or have you ever been Canadian born actor Steve Smith
😄
With the right hat you could be Red Green's under study 😃
Yup, I have heard that before, I do like duct tape!
The worst thing about leaving a tractor outside is it ruins the seat prematurely. They just don't stand up to the constantly changing elements and will crack and split. Dave
Yup, I am looking at getting a seat cover!
A back blade would make a good partner for the pusher in the Woodward
That is a good idea David!!
You could have got the pusher plow... where the sides fold out to make a plow that's what all the big boys use around here
The big boys around here use ginormus pushers.
I had a hydraulic plow and I got a pusher and I like the pusher a lot more 👍🇺🇸
Yup, it works great!
Never lived anywhere that it snows so the whole process is a bit alien to me.
Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper relying on your weather cycles to melt any snow/ice.
I don't know what they are either but from memory in your previous videos any snow seems to disappear pretty quickly.
it should be clear sometime in March. If you dont clear it at all it will just pile deeper until you cant get around in it.
No, the snow keeps piling up and if you do not clear it , you will have a LOT of ice that lasts for many months, like 4-5 months! Some time the end of March!
Yup!
Buy a cheap scrap for rear helps get in the corners.
Not a bad idea!
@@InTheWoodyard get one off Facebook market or tractor supply. I bought one at tractor supply and it does what i need it to do.
What’s the cost difference plow vs pusher?
Not much, it depends on if you have hydraulics to swing the blade (s) on the plow and the size of either one.
Why do you buy a tractor whitout a cab, when you living in snowarea?🤔
Because I like being OUTside as much as possible and I am on and off the tractor a lot and a cab is for people who don't get off much for one, thing also I intend on using it in the woods a lot and cabs don't live long in the woods.
Snow removal is the enemy of production. But necessary. Haven't had any snow in Nebraska yet. Stay safe. Nebraska WoodSTR
You got that right, no production! Only moving frozen water that will melt and run away!
Morning everyone.
SIR STANLEY IN THE HOUSE!
😁👍
Thanks Sir Dan!
Are you AvE?
Sorry I have no idea what that is.
what I will do is get snowblower on your tractor and do that
A blower would be nice but a good one is about $8,000 and then there is the chunks of stray wood to worry about getting in the auger!
Lol bet after that you looked at ur tractor n said where u been all my life compared to snowblower
It does work good.
