Recipe Notes -
Sake is a Japanese wine made from fermented rice. It is also commonly used in Japanese cooking, usually in sauces or marinades. Sake can be substituted for 1 part rice wine vinegar to 3 parts water, so for this recipe, you will need 50ml rice wine vinegar and 150ml of water.
Mirin is a Japanese rice wine similar to Sake. Mirin has a lower alcohol level than Sake but contains more sugar. For those that can't consume alcohol, it can be substituted for 1 part sugar to 3 parts water, so for this recipe, you will need 50g of sugar and 150ml of water.
Ingredients if you don't consume alcohol -
Makes - 250ml
60ml (1/4 Cup) - Soy Sauce
40ml (2 Tbsp) - Dark Soy Sauce
50g (2 1/2 Tbsp) - White Sugar
125ml (1/2 Cup) - Vegetable or Chicken Stock
Both soy sauces are interchangeable which means you can use one for the other or omit one completely. If you don't use dark soy sauce the teriyaki sauce will be a lot lighter in colour.
Whole Salmon Fillets -
If you don’t want to dice the salmon as I did in this recipe, it's completely fine to leave them whole. To do so, coat the fillets in the cornflour or starch as shown, and instead of searing for 2 minutes altogether, sear the fillets for 45 seconds on all 4 sides. Once that sear is completed, continue the recipe as shown.

I love salmon. This looks yummy.
So good
Another great meal
Hi Jack, not far off your half million subscribers!! Well done you.
Done the sweet & sour chicken last week . Loaded potato bites this week then i'm onto this. Can not wait!!
Awesome to hear you’re enjoying them! Thank you 🙏
Thank you.
Can' t wait to try this recipe ! Hope I will be able to prepare a good Teriyaki sauce though. Thanks a ton Chef !
It’s so good! I made the teriyaki sauce in the video 🙏
@@ChefJackOvens I know but could not make out the names of two of the ingredients as you spoke a bit fast for me and I had never heard those terms before! I I did however find the list of ingredients copied below ! I am truly grateful !
Farm raised salmon is not the greatest to buy. I love salmon. Thank you chef Jack 👨🍳
Beautiful and thank you for putting macro info im trying very hard to watch my weight!
It’s a pleasure 🙏
What brand of Mirin Sake do you use? Btw your recipes have transformed my work lunches! Keep up the cracker content bruv
Nice!!
I wish that had been on yesterday Jack, I cooked salmon fillets 😂 This is salmon next time👍 I have made the sauce recipe before👍 ❤
For someone like me that really dislikes cooked salmon this actually looks like something I would enjoy.
Nice! Please, more meal preps under 600-500 cal!
Great vid! I'll definitely try! Been looking for some great meal preps. Question, the glass dishes and freezing up to 3 months, I've heard it's risky to go from freezer to microwave directly because of the rapid temperature change on the glass dish. How long you recommend defrosted before it is safer to nuke?
Thank you 🙏. Allow the meals to defrost in the fridge overnight before reheating. I wouldn’t suggest ever trying to heat a homemade meal from frozen
Will this taste as good with budget type fish? For example substituting Salmon with white fish such as Basa
Don't know why the garnish that came to mind for this dish is sesame seeds🤔😄... 🤤🤤❤❤... oh and thank you for adjusting the container back to align with the others☺️
You should add the macros for the sugar.
Do you just buy regular sake from a liquor store or does it have to be specially made for cooking?
So, I’m following you for a long time now, but as far as I remember you never did a Video on your Equipment. Like what kind of pan do you use/recommend an why, what kind of tweezers (not entirely sure if it is called that - you know, those things you use to move meat or vegetables once they’re in the pan), etc. but also what kind of oil, soysauce, etc. you use and why.
I wonder how long the chunks would take in an air fryer? I'm thinking maybe 10 mins on 160, then remove the grill and add the sauce, then run for another 7 mins on 160.
Those containers look great. Normally I wouldn’t let fish/chicken sit in the fridge for more than 3 days. How long would they last with those fancy vacuum containers?
Recipe also looks good 😅
Really looking forward to trying this! 900g salmon feels like quite a lot for 5 meals, considering you usually get 2 fillets in a packet at around 240g - I'm going to try 720g (3 packs) for 6 meal preps... Also CONGRATS on 500k subscribers - you deserve it mate!!!
Looks great! One question - How do you keep your pans so clean? They look brand new every time you use them!
Ask this same question on r/culinary or something cooking related on Reddit . They’ve always got answers to any hobby on there !
Apologies, I didn’t see this comment. The way I keep them clean is once they’re cool, I’ll dry them off and use a bar keepers powder that’s made for the pans. I use a very low grit sponge and together it rips everything off so easily. All I then do is wash it in soapy water, dry it and it’s brand new again
@@ChefJackOvens Awesome! Thanks for that. Keep up the good work. :)
Absolutely love the recipe. However, bare in mind that 160g of cooked Jasmine Rice is not 78kcal !! It's mor like 200kcal, and that's a big difference!
Looks like you got a chair in your new studio 😂❤
For vegetarians any substitute for salmon??
I LOVE SAUCY SALMON
It’s so good 😊 🤤
How to get the recipe? Thanks! Jackie
@@jackielamarche5918 all ingredients are listed in the description as well as all the notes
Is it ok if bought teriyaki is used?
This looks amazing. Can I substitute salmon with chicken thighs?
Thank you 🙏 I recommend watching my teriyaki chicken recipe for that 👌👌
Yes infact he already has a teriyaki chicken meal prep video
Absolutely love your recipes and also adored this one - just had a serving and it was amazing!
Just a q on the calories, I put all the recipe items on MyFitnessPal and I got 761 calories - wondering why there was a discrepancy?
i think somethings a bit of regarding the rice, he says 78 kcal / serving (160) which is not true. Cooked rice is around 130kcal /100G.
So it should be roughly 200 kcal worth of rice in 160g.
Also. im pretty sure the salmon kcal is off. Idk if he measured the kcal in raw salmon or cooked
@sharbel543 his serving is 60g as its 300g divided by 5, which cooked is around 85 calories (uncooked). But that easily will turn into 160g when cooked which is closer to 240 calories.
I would say all his measurements are from uncooked.
What happens if you don't let it cool and don't have the vents?
Can you direct link to the recipe on your website in the description so that they are easy to find? The search feature on the website doesn't always return the recipes.
This recipe and others that you’re probably searching are not added to the website just yet. It takes a little bit of a process to get all this work done 🙏 they will be on the website soon
@@ChefJackOvens Gotcha, ty! And congrats on hitting 500k!
Absolutely where do you possibly find these good healthy recipes? Jackie in Canada 🇨🇦
Thank you so much 😊
All my recipes are my own so just go by experience and knowledge. Of course all these recipes already exist to an extent but I put my own flair into them. You won’t find my recipes anywhere else apart from here and my website. 🙏🙏
Will this recipe work with Sockeye salmon as well? My wife accidentally got sockeye and I'm worried about the filets being so thin.
It definitely will. Id recommend searing the salmon prior then remove it and add it back to the sauce at the very end.
@@ChefJackOvens awesome... Thanks for the speedy response!!
🖖
👌👌
Well, I see 500K subscribers ! 😛
Am I able to use store bought Terikay sauce?
You can but it won’t be the same
For anyone who does full filets instead of cutting them, be very careful. I tried doin it that way and didn’t cook properly in the middle, I ended up having to put them in the oven to cook throughly.
We're at 500k🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Edit:
Well, you are😂😂😂 it's all your hard and consistent work

Hi. Doesn't it get boring to eat the same thing for over 5 days? Are you planning to make a series where you cook once for 4-5 days, and you get to eat something else every day, or every second day? Like in the "Cook Once, Eat All Week" book. Thanks.
The idea of this meal prep series is for you to make multiple recipes, have them stored in the freezer and take them out when you need them. I personally don’t meal prep, these are my dinner for the one night with my family. I cook so much that there’s no need to meal prep 🙏
@@ChefJackOvens
Hi. Thanks for the response. Doesn't the quality of the food get a bit degraded due to freezing the meal? Have a nice day.
@@manafro2714 I have been following these meal preps since april and no the food is fine. I allways have a selection in my freezer and mix them up through out the week.
@@jamiesdivision3742
Thanks for the info. :)
Low carb edition soon??
78 cals in 160g of rice? Where do you find these numbers? I can't find a single source stating this number. Carbs, too
Oh dear! That’s a mistake on my behalf! I’ll correct it and add to the description. Sorry about that. It’s roughly 200-220 calories in jasmine rice
Different way chef looks mad gave that a go I put this comment on one of ur beef videos thought it was the salmon one 😂
Is this recipe available on the website?
Not yet sorry! I’ll be getting loads added in January
@@ChefJackOvens thank you! Those are just easier for me to follow. I’m slow
The problem with leaving it in the fridge is that is becomes rubbery when you reheat it! How would you adviid this 😢😅
can i do this with chicken
You can and I have a video for it on the meal prep series
😋😋👍👍❤️❤️
I personally prefer raw salmon with hot teriyaki sauce poured over but i can understand it's hard to prep it in advance.
You also need sashimi grade salmon not the stuff you buy from the supermarket which hikes the price a lot
@@ChefJackOvens Yeah that's true. btw, gonna do the chicken stir fry tonight :)
@@Shinseiki555 how did it go?
@@rachel4325 It was super good, whole family loved it !
@@Shinseiki555 that's great! Excited to make it now 😁😁
Me: Hears FILL-ITS… immediately goes to comment section…
It is fillets haha
160g Jasmine rice only 78 calories ?? On internet it said 100g jasmine rice : 351 cal
5 whole fillets? With what money I wanna meal prep this but that’s a lot of money
I could eat only the stir-fried Bok Choy with rice and be happy
I think you got the macros wrong, no way is one portion of the rice 78 calories
Yeah I made a note about it
Too Japan for Teriyaki salmon
1 tbsp oil.. that was 2-3 ;)
I went the other day to purchase a dark soy sauce & a soy sauce. Well, I couldn't see anywhere in the bottles that said "dark soy sauce" I was so overwhelmed that I just purchased two different brands 😀😲🙄 anyone help🤔
dark soy sauce is really just for the colour you can just use 100ml of regular soy sauce
My salmon just completely broke apart and was a mushy mess by the end :(
I left pretty important notes about this stuff in the video and in the description. You have to be extremely gentle

I eat 2 and a half at a time. They’re normal portions that are for people watching what they eat
