    It is difficult making this product working. The manual is extremely unclear.
    Unpacking is not the problem, as this video shows.
    But the challenge is to have it getting function in the correct/desired way.

    Not much info provided on settings up intervalometer (wired or wireless) for astrophotography. I've read a lot of reviews on this particular item and the overall consensus is that the manual is bloody useless, the controls are confusing, and the information provided is incomplete. Would love to see a video on how to set up long exposures and interval between shots, as well as setting the number of shots to unlimited. I've seen a lot of comments stating that shortest interval between shots is 4 seconds - useless for Milky Way photography. Doubt very much whether I'll purchase this kit even though I own a Captur wireless trigger.

      My Hahnel receiver unit stopped working. I have since bought a Sony A7iii & use the inbuilt timer.

    I notice that you have old Giga T pro too. I wonder if you have try if Giga Pro reciver is compatible with Captur trigger. Thanks for you video.

    Hello Ray from Nelson NZ, this is Grant from Cairns, Australia. I am a bit late to your video but I was wondering if you can tell me if it is possible to to set the Hahnel Captur for a specific timed shot. I am shooting astro in bulb mode with 60 sec + shutter times and it does not seem to be possible to set a time in the Captur so it automatically closes the shutter at the end of that time. At the moment I am opening the shutter with the Hahnel then I have to watch the exposure time and close the shutter with another press of the button at the end of the desired exposure. Seems a pretty inefficient way of doing things particularly as I have to keep the headlamp on to watch for the correct time - not good for dark sky astro work.

      Grant: Yes, of course - any dedicated intervalometer opens AND closes the shutter.

    Thanks, this review was very useful, as I was trying to figure out how many pieces I need to make a long exposure with it

    Thank you for this vidéo! I got mine New for less than a hundred eur. Somehow I can't get it to trigger the shutter on my Eos 70d without connecting the cable from the receiver to the camera. The shoe contact only does not work.

    Bloody pricey, especially since I am using Yongnuo 603C on my 1Ds. That said, I am switching from Canon to Fuji next year and I am finding very difficult to locate remote (wireless) triggers for the Fuji system and it seems that Hahnel is the only company offering such a device. The Yougnuos were compact and simple, wish they would produce the 603/5 for the Fuji system. Hahnel is big and complicated, but I suppose I'll just have to adjust.

      Actually, I have just replaced the Receiver, which wasn't working. My supplier obliged under warranty, thank God.

    Hello Ray, can I ask if you know how to use the timer module for a burst of high speed shutter?
    If I put my camera shutter on constant high (Nikon) when I press the release button (centre) the shutter keeps on going after I let go of the button. I only need a short burst of the shutter, say 8 to 10 shots.

      Sorry, I haven't tried that - I shoot looooong exposures with my Hahnel timer.

      That's mainly what I use the Captur system for Ray, long exposures, but on this occasion I was at a Tramway Museum and as the trams were moving, I put my camera on burst mode and tried to get the system to do a number of exposures but it didn't really work. Once the burst started, it just kept on going until I stopped it.
      I have tried contacting Hahnel here in the UK with the same question but they haven't bothered to reply at all.

      Ray, just had a conversation with the techies at Hahnel and if you should ever need to use the timer to shoot bursts, it's not to difficult.
      Place the camera in high burst mode, put the Captur Timer in the "Long" setting and set for one, two or three seconds, then press the button. Depending on your camera's shutter rate, my Nikon has 10 shots per second so if I set the Timer to long for one second, I get 10 shots, two seconds I get 20 shots and so on.
      I sometimes photograph Kingfishers diving into the water with my camera at a distance and me in a hide. I can now use the camera's high burst mode whenever I need it.

    Hi, In the video above which I found very interesting, you mention another video where you would show how you use the Hahnel gear in the field, so to speak. I have looked through the video list but cannot spot which video might have content. If this message comes up on your radar, I would be grateful for a steer (I find the instructions that come with kit, which I agree is very good, very difficult to follow. I have subscribed. Chris

      Chris: Actually, both sets of Hahnel gear have failed me in the field, that's probably why I haven't produced a 2nd gear review :-(

      @@HotPixelsPhotoVideo Thank you for taking the time to reply to me. Sad the second video never made it - worse that the units failed you. Mine are ok but while I can make the triggers work, trying to blend it all together is beyond me and the instructions seem impenetrable. I shall keep tying! Good videos on your site. Thanks. Chris

    I bought this kit can you please explain to me how can I use this timer for fireworks or to trigger at once as soon as I push the button.

    • @HotPixelsPhotoVideo
      @HotPixelsPhotoVideo  6 років тому

      Melvin: When it's setup, you just press the bigger, central button, which fires of a single exposure. For fireworks, you want the DSLR set to MANUAL MODE with a loooong exposure of up to 30 secs.

    • @mc20oct
      @mc20oct 6 років тому

      and you have to set camera interval on because when I bought it the sales person told me that you need to switch off the interval timer on from your camera I have nikon d7000

      Can you please explain to me in detail what settings I have to set the remote control on to start working as I want. I need to fire the trigger when I want without any timer in it just by pressing the central button. Is it possible by this remote? If possible which option you have to set the remote. interval, long, delay and to trigger the remote I have to switch on the interval mode on camera? I thank you in advance.

      I have recently purchased a Sony A7iii, which has a timer inbuilt! So no need for an intervalometer.
