I've been waiting for the Ramadan to start to watch the 2024 season 😆been doing this since 2021 or 2022, always entertaining and gave lots of nice souvenir (it's kinda like christmas for me) now catching up and looking forward for new videos about the bees!
Yay! My favorite beekeeper is back! I’m so glad your hives are doing well. I’ve had one dead out so far, but still have 7 going strong. I had a record honey harvest last year, over 600 lbs, including my first fall harvest. I can’t say I’m a fan of the goldenrod. It’s not bad, just Uber sweet! I did myself a favor and purchased some Hive Alive fondant for the winter, so I didn’t have to make any sugar cakes this year. So far, they haven’t eaten too much, but it’s there if they need it. I hope your knee is feeling better. Thanks for the update. 😊🐝
Hey PDaisy! Good to hear from you. Yeah, I remember you talking about that awesome harvest. You must have some really good forage around there. I don't mind the Fall honey, it's different for sure. People bought it up fast too. Knee is doing well, I just have to watch it, or it will remind me that it's not 100%. lol Take care.
We have an Excalibur and when it isn’t being used for dehydrating fruit, I can load crystallized bottles of honey in it at 105-110 😊and by next morning they are crystal free. Great video and glad you are back.
That's a great idea. We have a convection oven in our house and I can set it around 130 and it circulates the air really well. I put the bottles on a cookie tray, and yeah, they are good to go for quite a while. I noticed my last few bottles are starting to get cloudy. Thanks for watching!
Get a winter enclosure from Northern Tools for your ferns. I use two to overwinter my city's trees.
I'll look into that. Thanks for the tip.
Now it’s starting all over again!!! Thanks Jerome!
Hey Rodney. Another year! It's like, Time to Make the doughnuts. lol Take care.
good to see you Darren, as you know February and march are critical months that the bees can starve to death! I just filled all my candy boards up last week before I headed to Florida. for a few weeks. take care buddy.
Hey Billy Boy. Hope you had a blast in Florida. Yeah, I'm looking out for starvation much closer this year. Last year it snuck up on me. It snuck up on everyone in central OK. Thakns for watching.
What a great way to start a Monday. Excalibur dehydrators are the best! I use mine to dry sliced garlic. Lokking forward to another year of beekeeping.
Hey Dijon. I heard the Excaliburs were really good. That's a good idea on the garlic. I may do some of that as well. I made crushed cayanne and also Jalepeno. I used a mortar and pestle after they were dried. Works pretty good. Hopefully this spring goes smoother with the bees. We'll see.
Darron, good to see your bees, thanks for sharing. Love the bobcat shots, peace, Brice
Thanks for stopping in Lamb Brook. Got some good bobcat shots last month. Hopefully we have some kittens this spring. Take care.
So happy to see you back in the bees and making videos again. 😊
Hey Icymountainhoney. Good to be back. I'll try to stay consistent with content. Good luck this year!
@@JeromeBeeFarm you always have great content
Glad to see a new video and that most of your hives have survived 😊.
Hey Sheila. It's always exciting, especially after they just came though a really tough cold spell. Thanks for watching and subscribing for 5 years!
Hi Darren, glad to see you back working the bees. Sad you lost a hive but if it was pretty small then it probably couldn't stand up to that super cold Artic Vortex we had for over a week with single digits for highs and Zero F for several nights in a row.
Hey Bowhunters. Good to be back in the hives. I actually worked up a sweat out there. lol Yeah, one little hive, I'll take that. Just need to keep it up. They looked good like this last year and then it all went to poo in May. Crazy weather. Take care.
I have a lot of drawn comb too and am looking forward to spring. Be putting some sugar on soon. We usually, don't have much winter after Feb. Pretty excited to see lots of bees, again .
Hi Richard. Hopefully we are past the worst of the cold. It could still get bad, but not likely. I'm looking forward to warm weather and planning for the best. lol Take care.
Funny I was thinking about you this morning and here you are. Really missed your videos. I know it’s a lot of work to make these videos but we sure do enjoy them.
Hey Clay. I'm glad I was missed. You guys keep me going - thanks for the comments and watches!
Great timing, I was just watching one of your old videos because I missed your content. Time to get things moving towards the 2024 bee season. Hopefully it will be a great one! Thanks for the videos.
Hi Jennifer. Hopefully I can keep things going and have some regular content to get out there for this 2024 season. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Darren where the heck ya been? Glad to see ya back.
Hey Dan. I guess I been hibernating trying to stay warm. lol Trying to get back in the swing of things. Thanks for stopping in.
Good to see a new video, Looking forward to the new bee season.
Hey Baker Bees. Good to get out and shoot some video and get back in the swing. Hoping for another good year and a flow like last year. Take care.
So good to have you back Darren! I’ve early missed the videos.
Thanks Rock. Hoping to get back into the swing of things.
Hello Hello Hello. Good to see you come out of hibernation an did not get blown away. Yep I think it is on now . I went yesterday to check stores on my out yard an they are built up strong already. I know last year we had everything come around two to three weeks early an I was making splits in Mid February. I sure hope that does not happen again this year but I will take whatever I get . My colonies here at the house is a lot lighter . Welcome back an looking forward to see all you have going on this year . THANKS
Hey Hey Kathy! Yeah, that was quite a winter storm and packed a windy punch in addition to the cold. Yeah, last year was crazy, it was about 2 weeks ahead here as well. Interesting how that moves around. Thanks for coming back!
Getting into my bees today. Great week of weather in Central OK!
Hey Lawson. Yeah, it's beautiful. Wish I didn't have to work, it's been so nice the last couple of days. The wife has been busy outside taking advantage though. Take care.
The cycle begins again; happy beekeeping! For a minute I thought you had a CBD growhouse, 🤣 Looking forward to your future content throughout the season.
Hey Zelma! No CBD around here. lol Thanks for watching and commenting and good luck to you with your bees.
Hey Darren, Happy New Year! Welcome Back. I thought your hives looked good. It's always a thrill to see the first activity of the year at the entrances. I think you are going to love the Hive Alive fondant. Especially on those smaller clusters.
Thanks Tom. Yeah, they seem to be doing well. I was excited to see all the activity. Hopefully my HiveAlive care package gets here soon. Thanks for watching!
Nice to have you back! I was going through withdrawal! 😜
Hi HHH. Glad to see you. It's a long winter and this nice weather is a bit of a teaser. lol Take care.
Glad to see the girls and yourself are doing well. Take care.
Hey GeezBeez! Good to hear from you. Good luck this year!
Me too. Thanks.
Com on in and have some coffee! Nice to see you.
Hey Minnesota Beek. Glad I could join you. I won't pass up a good cup of coffee for sure. lol Take care.
Great to see your videos, keep them coming!!
Thanks Spider. Hoping to have a better and smarter spring plan this year. Just when you think you seen everything, there's something else. lol Take care.
Good too see you out there brother.
Thanks Mr. Blure. Good to be back.
Good video Darren. This video really got me thinking about the things that I need to be doing.
Hey Don. Yeah, I was watching some Mike Barry and Dirt Rooster, got me jazzed up and I got out there and shot this one. lol Take care.
Glad to see you are back! I hope you are well. I really enjoy all your videos.
Thanks Brian. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Welcome back. Looking good.
Hey Hope, thanks for stopping in and watching.
I place sugar bricks in oven with just the oven light on over night. Drys them right out.
That's a good idea. Thanks for watching!
Your bees are looking good. I put Hive Alive fondant on mine this winter, just as insurance, but they really aren't eating any yet. Getting everything ready for the year to kick off.
Hey Highland. Yeah, they seem to be doing well so far. A couple are a little weak, but I'll be sure to keep food on them this year. I've been building a few boxes each night. Getting ready to paint next. Thanks for watching!
Welcome back, i'v missed you!
Thanks Bob. Glad to be back!
About time, I enjoy your videos
Thanks Richard. Have an awesome 2024!
Welcome back.
Thanks Gecko, apprecite you watching.
Welcome back :) I use my phone only. Just get one of those wireless mics and you're good to go.
Yeah, I got this one off Amazon and it has the little poofy covers for the wind. The wind is terrible here in Oklahoma. I can't plug in the transmitter with my case on, so had to order an extension. Still haven't tried it. Thanks for watching.
It was great to see a video from you again. Your winter losses look good so far.A couple of weeks and those hives will start to get going I suppose. Did the raccoon kill any chickens or was it just stealing chicken feed?
Hey Russell. So far so good. Will be keeping a closer eye on them this spring. A raccoon got in there and one was out for some reason and they chased her, but didn't kill her. She left some feathers behind though. lol I think they are getting in there for food. I try to put the feed pans in the coop in the evening if there's any grain left. They aren't eating the whole corn now that it's warming up. Thanks for watching.
I lock mine in their coop, one flew out of bird yard and was outside so a fox got her.
Luckily the foxes haven't gotten in there yet. A raccoon got a hold of one last night. She didn't get inside the coop before the door shut for some reason. She survived though.
There ya are Darren👋hadn't seen ya for a while😁how ya been buddy how's the wife's wrist doing? was her wrist wasn't it?
Hey DC. Yeah, it's been awhile. Wife is doing ok. She had surgery on her hand and shoulder as well. Her hand/thumb is probably about 70%. She lost a lot of dexterity with the nerve and muscle being cut in there. She's learned to do a lot left handed. Her shouder isn't the greatest as well. She's a trooper though, keeps on working outside doing things. Thanks for asking and thanks for watching!
@@JeromeBeeFarm Glad to hear she is doing well, keep those crazy cats out of your chickens.😁Blessed Days...
I'm the lady that moved from NY to FL and had to put beekeeping on pause. I got rid of all my wooden hive deeps and mediums prior to the move. So, I have to buy new boxes. I am interested in the Apimaye hives and see you have their NUC. Do you think the 10 frame Apimayes would be a good move?
I'm only starting back up with two colonies, to keep restart expenses low. Thanks for your recommendation.
Hi Les. Yes, I think Apimaye would be a good move. If you are going to do like ten or less hives. Anything above that would get pretty pricey. I guess that's all relative to your budget though. I'd do all Apimaye if I could afford it. I'm starting to see some rotting now on some of my boxes. I will probably start spending over $200/year just to replace bad equipment. Good luck!
@@JeromeBeeFarm thank you very much
Hey there Darren . I live about 80 miles SW of you near Lawton . When and if do you start feeding any spring pollen patties?
Hey Rodney. I try to start about 40 days prior to the heavy nectar flow, which is May around here. So, in 2-3 weeks I will get the pollen patties on them to assist with the brood building to have a nectar army come the flow time. Glad to hear from you.
Nice to see you back with videos
Thanks Jennifer.
Yep I lost so much footage from the go pro
DJI Osmo Action - that's the way to go. Much easier to operate as well. Good luck!
