You always make it look so easy :) It is a huge difference. I have 2 GSDs, Henry at 3 yrs and Harvey at 1. I can somewhat walk them but Harvey is too reactive. Henry is more aloof with people and dogs where Harvey looks like he is going to kill them. Harvey is the sweet one. He never leaves my side for a minute. If you walk into my house and I am there, you will get mauled with love. If I am not,you will just get mauled. The thing with GSDs is that they watch you closely and know your weaknesses. I have been watching your videos for a while and it has helped immensely. Thank you for putting them out. You are right,"no bad dogs" :)
You've got the wrong youtube channel name, it should be "Upstate Canine owners training Academy". Having rescued an Australian Cattle dog 8 weeks ago I have watched every one of you video's on dog reactivity and can start to see gradual improvement, I think dogs are binary thinkers and simple uncomplicated commands like in your videos are testament to that.
Keep up the great work Tom you are a legend !!🙏
lol, thanks!
Great job with Jeffrey and Romeo! Also, having my dog sit before crossing thresholds has been great.
Thank you for mentioning exercise. Majority of the “bad dogs” that came to us to foster just needed more exercise.
Good 80% of “problems” went away with mental stimulation, routine and exercise.
Tom, in this times of covid-19, I pass these videos to all the members of our obedience school ( a non profit organisation ) thank You very much in helping all these people out in these difficult times.
“How did we go from this to this?” They met Tom Davis!!! 😀
Aw thank you! :)
Seriously you have the exact technics I use when working with dogs. I still learn something from every video you post. Great work!! I keep recommending your videos over here in Germany.
Tom, that is amazing work! Great to see them hanging out together at the end of the session!
Would be interesting if when they go home if the old behaviours return, most of the time it's the owners not the dog . Nice work dude, beautiful dogs .
Thanks SO much!
That's why I like to included private home consults and training, or a combo of the two because keeping the dog for B&T has it's own set of benefits too. Every situation is different.
Working two reactive dogs at once, that takes skill 🙌🏽
OR i'm just crazy lol
@@tomdavisofficial crazy skilled
This is amazing I saw they’re first videos! Massive improvements!
Great update, thanks
Oh that was brilliant! Thanks Tom. I have a Doberman. He’s a pretty good boy because I use your approach & guidance. People say all the time, wow your dog is so well trained, you must be a trainer. Hmm no, not a trainer, just choose to have a great relationship with my dog. I tell them to tune into your channel 😉
Thanks so much Kim! I appreciate you watching!
Incredible work with both dogs Tom! I watched the videos on both dogs. Hats off to you. Seriously amazing work.
Thank you very much!
@@tomdavisofficial Hey Tom, I was wondering if you would consider setting up Super Chat the next time you do a Live Session? Another person I follow does this and I would like to give something back to you, (as I'm sure others would too), for all that you do for us. Your videos have helped me immensely and I want to find a way to give something back. At this time I can't quite yet afford an online session with you.
Awesome work man! Love it!
Very good work man!!!
This video is a bit freaky, when he handed the camera to 'Taylor' it was like he was handing it to me since that's my name, i also have 2 german shepherds, one white and one black and brown, and one of their names is Thor which was the name in the screenshot showed 😯
OH WEIRD! THANKS FOR HELPING Taylor :)
It's so weird to me, when people call a white shepherd a gsd 🤔😂 Damn
@@regenindergosse true that would be weird if they knew they were different breeds and still called it that. Are you aware they are different breeds?
@@taelor56 so Jeffery is not a GSD? I thought that there are white GSD's , just not common bc it's a pure recessive trait?
@@elizabethk9656 yes there are white german shepherds. The 3rd generation of gsd was breed with a white female and the trait has been around ever since, except they were culled most of the time because they were not as desirable as whats known as the standard colors these days.
Jeffery acts just like my white Shepard, Tyr. Our boy sees a dog and wants to play, but can be reactive a little. Been working on a lot of this structure and it truly helps
Another great video! love the new intro!
This is one of your best videos. I love how you explained the process with Jeffrey. Thank you!
I cried while watching these two beautiful dogs come so far from when you got them. Thank you so much for the follow up video.
Thanks so much Sheila! ❤️
I've watched all the videos about these 2 dogs and all I can say is Holy Freakin' S#*t! What a difference. Good job Thx for another great video.👍😎🤘
RIght? Crazy!!
Ian, my thoughts exactly!!! Great work, Tom; thanks for sharing your techniques with us! Y'all Be Safe!
As usual, great examples of cause and effect, using fundamental and easy to understand explanations! Great vid!!!
They're really progressing well. Great job!
You are such a badass with these two ... phenomenal and beyond inspiring ... structure and leadership is paramount! Romeo and Jeffrey rocked today’s lesson!!!
Thanks so much Ina!
Great and helpful video Tom. Having the 2 separate videos on Romeo and Jeffrey and then seeing their progress working together was great. With so many dogs being killed for aggression, it is great to see so much improvement in both dogs with the proper training. Cheers.
Thank you as always Ben!
Totally agree, Ben, and special thanks to Tom. Y'all Be Safe!
Tom Davis does have crazy thoughts, but, step by step on his terms and ways, he does do it.
Now, it is up to you, the owner, to lead your dog, YOU have to do it, sweat -blood and tears , happiness and joy will be also your part.
Yo yo yo Tom go on your wonderful.
What a long way they've come, huge improvements. Great job!!!
Thank you for these videos and encouragements
LOVED this video! One of my favorites from your channel because of the way you walked us through the training, short and clear explanations and to the point!
THANK YOU so much!
Upstate Canine Academy thank youuuu for educating us! I have a very reactive 6 month old GS and could not go on with her without your videos. You are the BEST!
Haven’t seen your videos recently but everything video wise looks so much better! Looks professional. The dog training part is still 10/10 thank you for everything!
Thanks very much man!
Great video ..thanks for all your guidance.
Keep these videos coming Tom loving them
Awesome result! I’ve been watching your videos and starting to apply it to my boys
SO happy to hear!
Again, Tom you are truly gifted. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and providing us with the tools to develop our relationship with our dogs. Glad to see Zach 😀and can’t wait to get back to group classes!!
Thank you so much for watching Annette!
You always do a great job .
Absolutely love your videos learning so much from them ☺️
Wow, thought that was fantastic how you handled the both dogs together. Love German Shepherds. Had 4 females over the years. All 4 were wonderful dogs. ❤
Thank you very much Barbra!
Hey Tom, great video! This gave me encouragement to work with my 2 dogs in my situation. At first I felt it was hopeless, but after watching you for as long as I have (year+), using your methods and gear, I'm seeing much improvement and (embarassingly) knowing the main issue is...ME! Thank you for being so awesome, so helpful and encouraging. I also love your new intro! Thanks Tom
Very happy for you, thankks so much!
This makes me so happy to see!
Amazing video full of information, thank you!
My dog is now only reactive to dogs that bark at him and there's one dog that my dog really hate because that dog is always barking, growling, he's very protective of his garden, so my dog gets really reactive and I have to cross the road to avoid that house. It doesn't help that the dog owner just watch her dog from her window without saying anything.
Anyway it was a great, educative video as always, and it always help me to be try and be a better dog owner
Blown away! There’s hope left out there for these pups and other dogs that have reaction. Just a little guidance and help. Incredible job well done you did with them 👏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻♥️
Thanks so much!!
This is absolutely amazing. I can't believe how good this guy is. Thank you so much for your video's. You have no idra how much they help me with my dogs and my life as a result!
Beautiful dogs! Thank goodness you will able to teach them!
Hi, I would like to know if I can take a consultation with you online, I am from Mexico (sorry for my grammar).
I recently rescued a dog from the street, it was tied and in a bag, it broke my heart, also, i am pretty sure it is a Mallinoi, it has all the cualities, fisical and mental, at first he was fearful and shy, but over time has become brave and bold, is also pretty smart.
The dog has been with me for over two months and i have achieved the majority of the basic obidience, i have the time and resources to do it, i was about to hire a trainer but the quarantine didnt let me, so ive been doing it myself (just for the moment). by the way, i estimate that it has 5 to 6 months of age.
My uncertainty arises when i watch some videos about why having a mallinoi is a bad idea, wich I agree. The thing is that i did not plan it and i have become very fond with the dog, so i would do everything for him, i dont care if he eats my cauch.
Whats concern me is that i have two small dogs, equally rescued, both weigh no more than 5 kilos, what worries me, is that the mallinoi will attack them one day, so far he respects and protect them and even these have disciplined him when the puppy gets crazy.
Most of the time in the house he is quiet, maybe because i take him out for walks and plays for like two hours a day, plus one hour of training, yes i spend three hours with him everyday. But... i do not know if it is best to find a home with someone more suitable, or if hiring a professional coach will be enough, what worries me more, is that he could kill the other dogs (so far it doesnt look like it will happen).
Thank you for reading.
I hope things are still going well. Are you still worried? Has he hurt the little ones? Reading your comments--Malinois are VERY SMART. I suspect he "knew" they were "pack" and off limits. I hope this turned out okay.
@@Starry_Night_Sky7455 Is neutering a puppy hurtful for his development?
7:41 That was a fast reaction, correctly judged, as Jefferey was being a brat. Get to the bottom of the cause, not the effect.
Excellent as always!! Seeing Jeffrey's progress is SO very encouraging. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
All the videos you made are awesome, i like the way you train dogs, thx Tom

Hi Tom!! I love you and I’m desperately wanting to send my pup Bullet (Dogo Argentino/Anatolian Shepherd) to you for EXTREME reactivity issues/ fear aggression. I have sent an email out before but now I think I’m going to be ready for your assistance!! Hope to hear back!! Would be head over heels if I got some help from you. My dog needs it desperately!
It was supposed to be multiple comments... 1 letter per comment for dogs name
I have 2 10 month old Briard littermate sisters who really love each other but they fight. One is bossy, and one is really goofy and sweet. They are separated in the house for fear that they will fight again. Lately they have been kissing each other and playing with each other between gates and when one is in a crate and the other outside the crate. What are the chances that I could put them together again successfully...what can be done to put them together again. I love both of them dearly but feel that I may need to place one of them even though I do not want to do it.
Def some good effective use of the prong collar along with calling the shots. Good job!
My young GSD is really coming around, thanks to your vids. Love it man!

She's leash reactive so all help greatly appreciated.
I have a bratty dog like the white shepherd, keeps charging and grabbing my older ones neck.
work on that fast!
Great job with two challenging dogs. Enjoyed the update.
Fabulous work Tom, beautiful to watch two young shepherds with manners. I just love this breed they learn so quickly so intelligent they have came on so much under your guidance I am sure their owners must be extremely proud of them, they also look so much happier in themselves like a weight has been lifted great work x
Really good job !! 🐾
Great watching your video and everything make sense regarding the behavior of the dog.
Good work Tom, you really know your stuff. Your confident in your self, your experience and knowledge is sent right through the air and down the leads to these two naughty puppies lol. As said great job, one of your very best.
I love how you train dogs-- give positive reinforcement when they do the thing you want them to do, and correction when they don't or act in a way they shouldn't.
That is a fantastic job u have done on those two dogs
best trainer ever. can't stop watching. forget Netflix. this is binge watching without a doubt.
This is the best I've seen in a long time. Your videos are worth watching.
Awesome videos :) I’m following your techniques for my Dutch shepherds and other dogs
Well done Tom👌
This was definitely a cool thing to watch. Loved that you explained the behaviors with each dog.
Beautiful work. This is truly an art form, and you have given me excellent advice! I'm hoping to implement your tips on my parents' shepherd the next time I go home. I just need them to continue working with her when I can't be there 🙄
I LOVE this video! You are my number one role model Tom. I can't wait to get certified.
Man I learn so much from your videos!
Wow Tom great job, what a difference from the start of the story, great result, well done!!
LOVE your GSD videos, I have a rescue that I am rehabilitating that shows some of these same behaviors. These videos make me so hopeful for him ❤️
Hey, I just wanted to say thanks for uploading your videos! I’m working with my first rescue dog and your videos are absolutely awesome! Keep up the great work!
Awesome job 2 very beautiful fur babies 💖 that is a great change in both of there behaviors love seeing changes in these animal's
Awesome video and much improved!
Tom, you are AMAZING! What a blessing to Thailand many other dogs. They're lives are completely changed and they have you to thank. I'm so glad I found this channel! 💖👏🏻👍🏻💥
All I can say is WOW! I didn't think it would be possible. Amazing job .
Omg such beautiful dogs. You are truly an amazing trainer
Great job.
Individually both Jeffery & Romeo is a handful! Together? What else can I say, but WOW! Now, if you were to ask me to assist you with each of the 2 dogs, by themselves; no problem. If you then told me to grab both, TOGETHER, and walk them around the parking lot; this is where I'd probably get off the train,,,,,,,😅 😂🤣. Tools belong to those who know how to use them! You've got a great touch; don't ever lose it.
How is Titan doing?
That's impressive 👍 good job
Huge improvement for Jeffrey and Romeo! We are extremely impressed with your structured and holistic approach to changing their behavior. Thank you!
Great job
Awesome thank you!!!
Have a working line gsd. Thank you for your videos. They keep me motivated and confident with working with my dog on his training. He has been professionally trained by a wonderful trainer that also trained me. Still its a constant work in progress. Thanks for keeping me going. I learn alot from your videos!
Excellent results with the training of Jeffrey and Romeo! Now I hope you have the same results training the owners! Very impressive, and important information. Thank you. 😊
Great job 👏🐕
I have been binge watching your channel since I found it. My family might be getting a GSD/TX heeler puppy soon, and I have zero experience with dogs. I have been trying to learn and prepare. Also, my oldest daughter has a rescue GSD mix, and your information is super helpful.
Great video! I have a 100lb german Shepherd that is super possessive of his family and house. This was a big help, I need to micro manage him more.
Don't have a dog but baby sit dogs and you have really trained me in dog behavior.. You can see and hear your commitment. Love it.
You are amazing!
Really great examples of managing two totally different dogs. I’m more impressed with you each time I watch. I have a 12 yr old Siberian Husky (rescue) who was taken to a trainer at 8 mos. Fortunately, his training was on the same level as yours, and he taught me a lot. Thanks for all you do.
Your late videos have really been helpful. Tons of thanks! I have an 11 month male GSD which is somewhat reactive to other dogs but he does behave "better" than your dogs in the beginning of your training episode. But I realize that I have some work to do until we reach the point were I can relax -- lot's of hard work but that's part of having a GSD in the first place.
He is otherwise a wonderful and smart companion.
amazing love from Argentine
Great video
Dogs read body language, atmosphere of the human so well and on top of that, by the time you realize you have a problem on your hand, the relationship and/or behavior between the dog and the owner has been reinforced so many times that I don't think everybody can do it like you can. I certainly can't. Keep up the great work!
Wow that was really nice to see, not only the handlers confidence but also his calmness, don't think I could ever do chances or risks this big being 90lbs myself lol would def need an assistant 🤣
Watching Tom who is just brilliant. I love the steps he goes through and the explanation and methodology. My friend has a dog GSD female who has a fear of men. She came from shelter so she might have been abused in the past. Do you have a video on this issue. Love from Ireland.
I would totally love to be a tech at your facility! Your training methods are amazing and it seems like a super low stress environment. I currently work at a board and train in NC. Love to see how others run things.
Your videos are so amazing ! Just rescued a pit/ lab wonderful dog and the videos are so helpful keep them coming :) Former NJ girl here !
Like I said, you're a hero my friend!
