This is the best version of Dle Yaman I have heard. Her voice is angelic, and hearing this song makes me tear up. It expresses our grief, the grief that lays deep within every passionate Armenian.

What a magnificent, haunting other-worldly sound! One doesn't need to understand the words to understand what is being sung and played.
May God bless Armenia and all her people!

The instruments are called duduks. This song pierces the very fibres of my soul. How much pain and suffering of this proud and ancient nation can you hear in her amazing voice.

I saw you singing this on TV and my heart wept. The suffering is so evident in that beautiful aria and your perfect voice makes it come alive for me. Your voice is so beautiful it makes me feel at peace. May God bless you and your husband (to be) and to that beautiful aria sung from your soul.

Isabel Bayrakdarian, I am so very proud of you for what you have brought to our old and wonderful culture. I love your songs and your wonderful vigor. I am also a singer and a dramatic soprano though I started later in life. I mentioned at another youtube site that my professor's prof. was Pavarotti's professor. Seervart Kevorkian Kerb'ian.

Thank you dear Isabel. Your voice is magic, melodic, pure, angelic. Once one of my Arab friends heard her song in Arabian on youtube, which is called "Isabel Bayrakdarian - Ya zahratan fee khayaalee | إيزابيل بايركادريان - يا زهره في خيالي" and as he later told me he first became speechless, than big tear drops came down his eyes. He called me on the phone and said, "Hasmik, your compatriot, a very talented Armenian singer shocked me.That Arabic song is most gorgously sung by a non - Arab singer, I listened to the song a thousand times and I like it more and more! Thank you. God bless Armenia!
It is really a very nice Arabic song and Isabel Bayrakdarian sings it heavenly. Listen it on youtube. You will enjoy it greatly.

    Dear friend,
we have to accept that every people has its own style of singing...
don`t forget that she`s an opera singer.
and an opera singer sings much better than any other singer in the world... :)
However, Kardes Turkuler sings it well...but Isabel Bayrakhdarian sings it in a more personal, more emotional way...
    I like both versions :)
Good luck to her - and thanks for sharing the video with us

Zvartnots is a church, built outside the traditional Armenian archetecture of churches....after it was built, it was decided to maintain the unique Armenian architecture of building churches, where the foundation is based on cross.

angelic voice great song great performance - this particular rendition with the haunting duduk ensemble absolute ARMENIAN magic. Isabel sounds as great as when I heard her live in London. Pity about the annoying and completely out of place eastern/western Armenian "debate". Also, Isabel please note, Zvartnots is NOT a pagan temple or as old as you think by Armenian standards (i.e. pre Christian). It's in fact a Christian temple from, I think from, 7th century.

@zarmanazan of course, no one has the right to tell that the western armenian is wrong, there are a lot of foreign words in eastern armenian, but western has not many derivations, we should keep it, it is a great language and we should be proud of those armenians that have kept it and speek now in diaspora, this way they have armenian identity with them, think armenian, speak armenian. that's great. Bravo to all of them :)

Armenians are very old nationality who survived horrible masscres and tortures. Because of the Armenian Genocide, the Armenians are 8-10 millions all around the world, rather than 50 millions if the Genocide didn't happen from 1915-1923. Thus more than 1.5 millions were barbarically killed. The remnants of the orphans who survived the Genocide are scattered all over the world. One of them is myself, the daughter of a survivor who was orphaned in 1915. For 95 years we haven't had closure yet.

While I surely do not know about the original transcript as well as you, maybe it would be of interest that "del" is not a Turkish, but Persian word simply meaning "the heart" (and the -e is a nominative marker). In connection with the expression "Yaman" it makes proper sense, I would say. Anyway, just my two cents ;-)

I'm sorry but after what the Turks did to the Armenians, Greeks and Assyrians and what they tried to do to the Arabs, how can you expect me to forgive
We must not dwell on such issues such as the Armenian Genocide or the Holocaust, but instead keep an eye on Turkey to make sure that they don't do something or encourage hate to other nations ever again!
If it seem like they're trying to influence other nations, run and get help immediately! That goes for Iran and Israel as well!
