Hey Jude - Custom Figured Mango Xun in B3

- A short and simplified rendition of The Beatles classic Hey Jude, performed on a recently completed custom bass xun for a customer, tuned to the key of B3 and made from an absolutely beautiful piece of figured mango. The unique palette of colors and shimmering chatoyance of the wood is further complimented by the rich and deep tone of the xun, with a booming low end that you can feel when playing. Despite being a bass xun, this xun is very light, with small holes and exceptional responsiveness across the range.
If you want to capture a bit of the spirit of the forest yourself with a custom wooden xun, feel free to reach out and I would be happy to work with you to make your vision a reality! Also be sure to check out the Bretti Musical Instruments Instagram page for build updates of new xun in the works!

Wow
Im honored to be the first comment on your incredible talent. Subscribed! Such soothing music.
@@Naito31 wow thank you for your kind words, I greatly appreciate it! The xun is a relatively rare and unknown instrument, so it's nice to see others coming across these videos!
@@BrettiMusicalInstruments I got it recommended to me on my home feed. Prior to this I've never seen or heard a Xun. The sound is so mesmerizing. I can feel a cold wind breeze just by hearing you play. What does a Mango Xun mean? Because of its shape like a mango or made from the mango seed?
I hope to see you cover more songs with the Xun.
@@Naito31 awesome, that's cool to hear it got recommended! I'm glad you enjoy it, and it's nice to help get others exposed to new instruments like this! I only stumbled across it by chance myself and started dabbling with making them from wood, and became hooked on it. It's kind of a nice cross between the ocarina and shakuhachi (which I also enjoy as well.) This xun is actually made from figured mango wood, which was a custom commission for a musician/instrument collector, which ended up matching his mango guitarlele and native american style flute. Mango is a medium hardness wood with some very unique natural mottling and colors, and gives a nice warm tone. I'm also in the process of making a bass mango for my own personal collection.
Strangely fitting for the instrument!
@@sophiew8589 thanks! Turns out a lot of music, even rock and pop actually works out nicely on the xun for a bit of a different feel!
