Thank you so much for reacting the song with the story behind❤️.
Yes, this was the first song he sang in Mandarin. He was so grateful to his Chinese audience for welcoming him so warmly that he wanted to say thank you in this way. He only had a week to learn the lyrics and the correct pronunciation. That was very important to him. A really tough job. From the reaction of the audience you can see that he has mastered it with flying colors. Many Chinese reactors also said that his pronunciation was almost perfect. The song is very emotional and I recommend to take the link on Gloria Wu’s channel as it shows the background story. Autumn Strong is a song he always sings in his concerts. Every time it is a very emotional moment.
Another very emotional song is Daybreak also from The Singer competition.
I highly recommend you also to watch the version with the story behind on the Gloria Wu channel.
In the Singer version he was so sick and had a severe sore throat and fever. He lost his voice the night before his performance of Daybreak. I heard him say in an interview that it was very painful throughout the song, that his throat feels like shredded glass but he didn’t want to disappoint the people who stand behind him and so he pulled himself together and went on stage. He got 5 injections from this doctor in the hospital. And the doctor told him not to sing high notes. You can see how concerned the other competitors were and they suffered with him. They knew he was not doing well and one of them even gave him a very expensive Chinese medicine from his own inventory. The problem was his busy schedule between the performances and he didn’t have enough time to recover. He made very good friends there and many friendships still exist today. After the performance he lost his voice again.
It’s unbelievable how he always manages to convey emotions to such a degree. Though I think in this one particular version the emotions he shows are mostly concern about his voice keeping up with the song and the pain he must have been in doing it.
There is another version from his Bastau concert . The Bastau version (no sore throat) of Daybreak is phenomenal and mind-blowing. So emotional and heartbreaking. Maybe you can do both together. Many reactors do and so you can see the difference between this two performances.
I think you will appreciate the Bastau version even more if you’ve seen the Singer version before. As somebody mentioned in some comments, I totally agree that it is always very frustrating when reactors jump on the Bastau version and don’t know the sad story of this song and don’t even try to activate the subtitles. I can understand that a lot of Dears prefer reactions to this version because it is just incredibly more powerful. In my opinion, however, it loses at bit of its impression, if you don’t know why he sings, the way he sings. This song tells a very sad but true story. You really have to watch this with subtitles. It’s really important to know what the song is about.
In both versions I always cry my eyes out. I don’t know why I have to cry more. Because of the story or the fact, that he was in such pain and performed anyway because he didn’t want to disappoint the audience. Both version were in the same year 2017.
And Dears, why not always recommend both versions? I see more and more so-called marathons for one song. I don’t think the idea is that bad.

However, both videos have a dropout towards the end. So don’t panic. Nothing is broken😁

    Greetings and love from Germany👋❤️

This is an emotional masterpiece. Whether it be the original Japanese rendition, or the Mandarin version. Dimash paid tribute to the original artist by performing his song, Ikanaide in Japanese for the 2022 Tokyo Jazz Festival. One of my all time favorites from Dimash. A timeless classic. His performance of it during the Kiev Arnau Tour concert in 2019 is epic. Where he displays the power of his voice projecting the last notes without the microphone! He touches my soul like no other singer before him.

Thank you very much for your wonderful and sincere reaction to DIMASH. Although I don’t understand either Chinese or Mandarin, I still get goosebumps when Dimash sings this beautiful song. Even the audience and competitors of DIMASH, mostly Chinese singers, became sad, because they understand the words of the song. Bravo, bravo, bravo DIMASH. Hello from Kazakhstan👋👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🙌🙌🙌🤲🤲🤲🇰🇿🇰🇿🇰🇿.
