Great review. I just replaced my first guitar speaker and it was a stock celestion to a 16ohm Swamp Thang. I kinda rolled the dice as a newer player after getting to the point of too much conflicting online info on what to expect with this speaker. After playing for around just 10-15 hours on it I think your points around it being very neutral (with a lean towards lower frequencies in my opinion as it stands right now) with a ton of headroom making it great for effects (and absolutely it does sound really great with a variety of overdrives specifically in my experience). Great job man. My setup for a little context: LP Tribute -> overdrive and boost usually -> Marshall dsl20cr (speaker upgraded to 1 16ohm Swamp Thang). Usually on the ultra gain setting.
@@daddaladda My bad, I should have written that more clearly. My rig is a Bass Block 800 and I run eminence speakers and it is a Sweetheart combo, clean powerful and sounds great with a bit of 'verb. This guitar rig reminds me of that abnormally clear and sweet sound. I dig it. It also tells me a lot about the engineering consistency and quality controls of both companies. Premium stuff at a very fair price! Peace

That swamp thang combo works pretty well, sounded real nice with the sg.
That was with a Tone Block 202 I believe and not a Bass Block.
