This is a good explanation for gauging the risks of potential disaster for an Ibogaine treatment for opioid withdrawals. He is not saying that Ibogaine is bad he is saying that underlying pre existing health issues are most likely the reason for the fatalities for those unfortunate people who lost their lives trying to free themselves from suffering. People who want to do this should consider this information seriously before proceeding.
ICEERS promotes the integration of Ibogaine assisted addiction therapy into occidental society. To do this it is important to focus on the risks as well as the benefits, with the objective to reduce risks and increase efficacy. For that reason, the data gathered by Howard Lotsof and Dr. Alper seems very relevant to us. It concludes that fatalities occurred in case exclusion criteria were not respected or drugs were used before treatment, suggesting that responsible use of iboga is relatively safe.
I have done a fair bit of research into taking Ibogaine, I think its fantastic for interupting active addiction. I have been a heroin addict for 20yrs and have tried everything in the past to get clean, I am not going to go through all of them saying they are no good, they dont work. The reason they did not work at that time was because I was not ready to put the work in, after I detoxed. Now getting clean in our everyday lives, now that is a battle, which I am losing miserably and painfully. If this substance can give me the chance to get clean and put me in a positive state of being. YES PLEASE, I'LL TAKE IT TODAY AND EVERYDAY 24/7. I am so grateful for the light in my dark everyday life whilst using.
frank finn dear frank,i feel your pain litteraly, since i am also in recovery after a crippling opioid addiction,i have done so many dr related so called cures, all seem to have failed except my belief in spirituality,i am not here to denounce or imply any cures, but this one is one the drug companies seem to have covered up for decades and still do,i have heard about ibogaine and aueyausca for about a decade and wondered why they are never offered, the simple reason is they do work and usually needed one course of treatment, unlike naltroxone and suboxoine which stop recepters this cures the problem once and for all, methadone works for some but relapses are huge, thats where these companies make their money, good luck bro,i hope you find peace and calm again....
frank finn There is a U.S. network of responsible, though underground, providers of ibogaine. I wish I could mention names and contact info but understandably, I cannot. I would suggest trying the Mindvox website to try & find U.S. providers or call the Holistic Sanctuary in Baja which is one of the largest & best ibogaine clinics. The man you want to talk to is "Johnny The Healer" and I believe is the founder/owner. He'll likely be the one answering the phone & is a wealth of ibogaine info & encouragement. A truly wonderful person to talk to. I do not know if he will, or can, but he may be able to point you in the direction of someone who knows someone in the U.S. underground of ibogaine providers. The U.S. providers I know of are also less expensive than going to a clinic in Mexico or Baja or Canada. Ibogaine works, it is not too good to be true, nor a sham. It will work for anyone who wants it. A near miracle.
please, please remember when all hope is gone, and that huge terrifying ghoul of of beast is slowly crawling across the room in which you have picked as a last stand, please i beg you from the bottom of my soul, cry out to the lord, you are only ready for this when you have stuck a loaded rifle in your mouth or tied a knot or playing with a razor blade, as i choose one awful day to do ,as my rottweiller and american staffy growled as much as they could to defend me ,bless their hearts, those dogs were my purest and most trustful friends at the time, i owe a lot to them, the minute they gave me, was the time i needed to cry out to my lord and savior, i know you may think this is just another bull story, but i have the tattoos and pictures of the hardest club in the world to prove it,any way war stories suck, the thing is ibocaine will give you the time to meet your spiritual maker, after a fifteen years heroin and opiate addiction i know of only one way of staying straight after the shakes, shimmys and ro olls are over and that hazy mind cloud disappears, all the succesfull ones realize we were traped into that pit of hell called addiction and trying to do it by yourself is a face plant, as far as i am concerenerd,i face planted to many times,i have no dog in this fight other than to give the gift of freedom the lord gave me,i pray you receive it inabundence and pass it on just as freely to others, please let me know how it goes, any day away from opiates or herion is a victory that the angels are applauding your name, please, please do not give up,there is no shame in a relapse,it just may the beginning of the one time you suceed, please know people do care about you and your problems, you are my family in the lord, have a great day....
carpet bagger,i have jumped of methadone as high as 45mg,s daily and would not recommend this to anyone,in my day there was not an abundance of clinics and doctors and treatment facilities from day patient to full 21 day programs as today,my only route was methadone and or the hard way, after years of opiates, dilaudid and heroin when your script runs out, there was no other choice, but thankfully my appeal to a higher power and the methadone controlled withdrawl by a doctor has and is working, ibogaine use without any spiritual and medical guidance can be extremely dangerous,it surely is a miracle to others ,so is suboxone or naltroxone, both failed for me,the biggest thing is willingness to comply with the procedures implemented by knowledgeable people,be ready, willing and able is half the battle, sometimes being sick and tired of being sick and tired is all that is needed for some others need help, any day away from opiates is a total victory,i wish all who wish to abandon that insane lifestyle too go for it,the freedom alone is worth the effort.....good luck to all, wishing well for you all..
Everyone who's acting like these guys are down talking Ibogaine, you need better listening and comprehension skills. They are essentially saying that the only ways to die from it are being at risk health wise to begin with, being on other drugs or self dosing and not knowing what you're doing.
I will be having iboga treatment on the 7th of september in holland, iboga has ibogaine and alkaloids in and from what I can tell iboga is not as intense as ibogaine.. there are risks with anything in life.. lets hope I am able to write back after treatment with a happy story.
Most fatalities are from underground cowboy set ups where they have not carried out medical tests and where the patient has gone and used right after it
I don´t find him clear enough to understand... What is causing death: ibogaine, or the use of drugs during treatment or afterwards? I don´t find his statements clear.
If you're doing detox + psychospiritual (2 floods about 3 days apart), your detox shouldn't be too intense, but if you're in bad shape psychologically (a lot of demons) the psychospiritual journey may be intense. It all depends on the person. However, I'd do it anyway because at the end of the week you literally feel reborn, and you get a chance to work on your anxiety and whatever other issues you have. Given the end result, the discomfort's worth it.
My friend just tried this and passed away on Monday / Tuesday (just found out today he died.) be careful and lots of positive vibes pushed to those dealing with addiction
Do you know approximately how long it's recommended to be off of opiates when one is planning on doing ibogaine? I am figuring out ways of gathering the needed funds to go to an Ibogaine center & I called one yesterday. I'm mainly just curious about the time one should stop opiate use before ibogaine. Thanks. I'm actually somewhat fearful of the trip itself as I deal with occasional strong anxiety & rare panic attacks. I'm sick of methadone & want OFF!
If you read the information provided on our website iceers.org, you can see that we under no circumstances advocate for ibogaine being a 'miracle cure from God', but promote scientific research, risk reduction in relation to ibogaine treatment, and the use of ibogaine in a multi-disciplinary therapeutic program to address all aspects of the drug dependency... There unfortunately are centers that promote ibogaine as a miracle cure, so people should be aware of the potential benefits and risks
My best friend just passed away in Costa Rica at a Ibogaine Wellness Center all i know at this time the nyt before he was suppose to start he told me he had been sick from the morphine they were gvn him. He said tell u more later talk to ya in a few days … that was the 11th . 💔💔💔
Thank you. A day I can handle. Could you speak of the experience of the Ibogaine itself? I have some fear of the Ibogaine trip since as a teen long ago (I'm 45 now) I had a bad acid trip. That was the only time I ever did acid *and* the reason I never repeated. It was only 1/2 a hit, too! I tend toward strong anxiety & rare panic attacks. In the large amount of testimonies I've watched recently a common thread concerning the Ibogaine trip is "it was hard/rough/intense" or similar. Thanks.
I advocate safe psychedelic use including ibogaine, and I really don't see anything wrong with this research. He's investigating the potential dangers of using ibogaine, not general viability of its use, if anyone concludes from this that ibogaine should be restricted/illegal you should blame that person, not the researcher. The fact that it has been used for thousands of years does not mean its safe (though it most likely is).
It's a short period, something like a day or two, I believe. The important thing is not to take any opiates while iboga/ibogaine is in your body, because it sensitizes you. For that matter they do not recommend drinking alcohol for quite awhile afterwards as well. I would recommend a place that does 2 flood doses - a detox and then a psychospiritual journey a few days later, because while detox interrupts the withdrawal, the psychospiritual journey deals with why you used in the first place.
Actually he is that smart, and you seem to be taking this video as some kind of attack on Ibogaine, which it isn't. He's explaining that the rare fatalities are (1) people who use opiates around the time of Ibogaine use; (2) certain preexisting medical conditions; (3) overdose of Iboga.
What happens if the normal drug addict doesn't have 7 to 10 thousand dollars to do ibogaine, i guess methadone is the next best thing... and there is people that have tapered off methadone...
Oh yeah, and you need to be free of alcohol for 3-5 days. Ibogaine will not prevent alcohol withdrawal seizures. Your provider should be able to address all these questions better than a You Tube comment discussion.
Ibogaine didn't work for my ex. 3 trips to Pangea in Mexico for opiate, benzo & ETOH addictions failed. He cont. to use, going from one substance to another. It just got worse, not better. I think ibogaine makes you feel good initially, for a few days, but I didn't see a change in behavior. Ibogaine doesn't lend itself to sobriety. Go to a reputable program. Embrace that you need hard work to get better. Going to a resort in Mexico that promotes hallucinogens won't work in the long run.
I understand Ibogaine does not prevent seizures associated with benzo or alcohol withdrawal, but does Ibogaine prevent the other withdrawal symptoms from benzos/alcohol? Is Ibogaine safe taken with Librium at the same time? If one is addicted to benzos or alcohol what is the suggested course of action when considering ibogaine/iboga?
New Zealand was one of the first countries to legalize Ibogaine entirely. There are reputable medical facilities that will provide treatment there, and in certain cases, these treatments may even be covered by your medical insurance. I know because we have a similar set up in SA.
I probably have better understanding of this topic than you could ever dream. Had major OxyContin problem for years. Went for help. Not going to get into details but I have been off ALL TYPES drugs, no REPLACEMENT DRUGS - for 7 years now. Yes, I do know what I am talking about. Even if a drug stops physical issues, that isn't the problem. And if it alters your outlook on life, who is to say that is safe? What if it alters it in a bad way?? You don't know about the horror stories of this drug
So what is your point? A rich kid with excess time and money will go on a high trip whether you like it or not. Is Ibogain a torture device or a free will suppressant? Its your choice to chose whether or not to stop using drugs, ibogain merely helps you with withdrawal, the rest is up to you
With a 90% relapse rate...I believe this is a much better option than Methadone Far to many here in the U.S. Trade one addiction for another! Methadone was intended to help make it easier to taper off Methadone than heroin!
OK I'm just a dumb junkie. I don't understand what's going on here me and my wife are getting ready for ibogaine treatment, Often from the same amount of drugs she will overdose I have had to keep her alive several times what does this mean? Is she prone to overdosing? I mean if I doubled my dose I would be prone to overdosing to, Are they just talking about how much drugs your body could take here. This is a scary video for me I am going to Cancun in 2 weeks and will partake in some ibogaine treatment
My daughter died 8/8/20 from treatment received at Baja Ibogaine. She should have never received this treatment. These individuals are responsible for her death Jose Cerdo (he is in the video above), Dr. Hector Velazquez and Chris Gagen. This clinic is part of a network of clinics that operate in the Baja area. They are not legit clinics. My daughter was seeking treatment for an opiate and xanax addiction. Prior to treatment she had a lowheart rate. After treatment she was left unattended and started having seizures from xanax. Medical negligence and incompetence. You are right, people die from inadequate reckless medical care
This was data collected by Lotsoff and his team over a certain period of time, and concerning only certain 'providers'. The ICEERS presentation does not claim to be a complete and accurate analysis of worldwide Ibogaine user over time.
You obviously have no clue as to what Ibogaine does... Interrupting the phyiscal addiction is a small factor in Ibogaine, the change in perception, attitude, and understanding create the lasting benefits. Probably not best to comment on something that you have very little understanding of.
Frank Finn, its the fear of being in detox agony. Opiates bad enough, especially benzos. Methadone & Heroin... another story. Good Luck. Hope you find a way out. Alive.
My daughter died 8/8/20 from treatment received at Baja Ibogaine. This is not a legitimate clinic in Baja Mexico. Those responsible for her death are Jose Cerda, Dr. Velazquez and Chris Gagen. These men are apart of other Ibogaine clinics in the Baja Area. She should have never received this treatment. These men prey on people who are vulnerable, seeking help. Don't let another person die at a bogus clinic or at the hands of the incompetent.
Ibogaine is given when you begin opiate withdrawal - that's kind of the point, there is no kicking. You need to be completely off all benzos and stimulants (cocaine, etc) for at least 72 hours, you don't need to be off opiates. Ibogaine resets the brain's opiate receptors, so there's no physical cravings for opiates afterward. The psychological aspects of addiction require ongoing care (either 12 step, or therapy). It's not a silver bullet as to all aspects of addiction - there isn't one.
AND IBOGAINE *DOES* WORK, IT CAN SAVE THE LIVES OF MANY MANY AMERICANS, AND PEOPLE ALL AROUND THE WORLD IF IT WAS MADE FREELY AVAILABLE. DON'T LET DRUG WAR HYSTERIA AND LIES LEAD U ASTRAY!!! U ARE ON THE RIGHT TRACK!
You realize not everyone reacts the same? Water can kill you, I'm sure this drug can as well. It being capable of causing death does not discount potential benefits.
Keety Kardashian It's unfortunate that so many people commenting do not understand the purpose of this video, or the group that posted it. These are powerful substances that can be very beneficial, but only if they are respected and properly used. In a perfect world, ibogaine would be administered under the care of a conscientious, medically trained professional.
Gee, that's a lot of specific info.. XP Maybe it did work well for him but he still decided life wasn't worth it for him even addiction free. Stop blaming drugs and realize that maybe some people just can't get it together to make Life work for them! Idiot
David Wadsworth 😿 I'm so sorry. That's tragic. May he Rest In Peace. If he was suicidal, maybe he should have been put on antidepressants afterwards. Idk. I'm taking it in a couple weeks & am well informed, by my sobriety coach, about the work I will have to put in afterwards & that this is not a cure-all. No one should have told you or your brother that it is.
EXACTLY! THE MIRACLE DRUG FROM GOD THAT would stop withdrawals (which is just the physical addiction) but the drug abuse and that behavior and the other mental health issues aren't cured here. It is ridiculous for anyone to think a junkie could take this and then leave and live a totally normal life. It is kinda funny that some thing this way.. They don't understand what addiction is..
I don't believe it and in any case I'm willing to take the risk since I am an eternal being who doesn't recognise death. Death just as the claims made here is just a myth.
you seem a little angry eric, maybe if you had started with someone who posesses a modicum of self motovation things would have turned out better. i paid 500 to end a 26 yr addiction,it's a miracle
Yes there are many that have tapered off...but there is also a large group who intend to continue on Methadone or Suboxone forever! Benzo and alcohol detox can be lethal but Ibogaine is for Heroin addicts. They go thru detox in 2-3 days rather than 5 or 6, that said,.I want to address Brian Peixinho's statement! Detox is only the beginning for ALL addicts, once the mind is clear, then recovery begins either with a 12 step program and N/A meetings!!!
don't you notice the little "disclaimers" that accompany commercials on TV for all these drugs like Ability"" that have nothing more to reommend them than some woman with a sentient umbrella for chrissake? Abilify may kill you you may have involuntary motor actions that will be permanent, blah blah blah blah. Nevertheless it is hucked on TV.
Total number of fatalities is only 13(!) between 1990 and 2008? Now imagine the fatalities caused by anti-depressants (suicide, etc).
+Eric John RIP had friend die due to Amiltriptiline overdose.
Ah, but that's ok though, apparently 😂😂😂
Very good point 👍
So this is a very positive result of the study. None of the few fatalities were proven to be caused by Ibogaine it comes down to.
The closest you will find a clinic at this point would be Canada I believe.

@kleine bauer ive heard of methadone users going day before only?

@kleine bauer im just very interested on this treatment and im on methadone. Ive been on it for last decade or more consistently

Found Ibogaine in central west Africa (Gabon)
did you use the ibogaine?
I didn't know that James Caan is an expert on Ibogaine
Detox is often the most risky point .Can be life threatening.Good stuff Dr.Thanks.

Scary!
Would be nice if the clinics kept track of everything and independent organizations were involved. It would serve the public.

What happens if the normal drug addict doesn't have 7 to 10 thousand dollars to do ibogaine, i guess methadone is the next best thing... and there is people that have tapered off methadone...
Any way to track congenital predisposition?
One factor he mentions is "they used drugs during treatment".
Oh yeah, and you need to be free of alcohol for 3-5 days. Ibogaine will not prevent alcohol withdrawal seizures.
Your provider should be able to address all these questions better than a You Tube comment discussion.

where would a person find this medicine outside of a clinic?
with a shaman in Gabon

It tastes awful I can`t imagine how you could even chew enough to get into trouble.
Is there legit treatment in the USA for the Ibogaine?
No, it's illegal in the US.
Nope, because they don’t want to cure, anyone !
Who said Methadone was a good option?
Come on long ways from the way it use to be
With a 90% relapse rate...I believe this is a much better option than Methadone Far to many here in the U.S.
Update please!!! I’m supposed to do this at the end of month
You don't mention the thousands of deaths in Africa. This is not an accurate representation of the lethality of this drug.

Every medicine has side effect
Ibogaine is given when you begin opiate withdrawal - that's kind of the point, there is no kicking. You need to be completely off all benzos and stimulants (cocaine, etc) for at least 72 hours, you don't need to be off opiates.
Ibogaine resets the brain's opiate receptors, so there's no physical cravings for opiates afterward. The psychological aspects of addiction require ongoing care (either 12 step, or therapy). It's not a silver bullet as to all aspects of addiction - there isn't one.
disinfo alert! ibogaine will NOT KILL YOU!!!

You can not reason with these kind of people, they are so emotionally invested, their personal affinity, completely shits on rationale.
That's actually what they pretty much say if you watch the video. Do a little research.
My brother in law, suicide three days ago ,two ibogaine cure experiences, yeah it really worked well with him
Gee, that's a lot of specific info.. XP Maybe it did work well for him but he still decided life wasn't worth it for him even addiction free. Stop blaming drugs and realize that maybe some people just can't get it together to make Life work for them! Idiot
Easy to blame iboga right , iboga doesn't work in its own it's not a miracle cure
his spiritual leader, Sommers said it was, Mike chose to do this, maybe,
David Wadsworth 😿 I'm so sorry.
Touché
I don't believe it and in any case I'm willing to take the risk since I am an eternal being who doesn't recognise death. Death just as the claims made here is just a myth.
exactly
you seem a little angry eric,
maybe if you had started with someone who posesses a modicum of self motovation things would have turned out better. i paid 500 to end a 26 yr addiction,it's a miracle
Richard Monette can talk with you about the experience
Got it!! Pre treatment!!
I just ate 50 pounds of ibogaine , lol just kidding folks no not my type of thing man I don't do hallucinogens that's a fact!!!
