    Back in a previous century we learned a lot of “facts” about famous people. In this instance it involves George Washington. He was a surveyor when most properties were covered with forests. To survey these, at least initially, the surveyor would “step off” the boundaries. I recall that written records contain comments about Washington’s amazing ability to accurately step off boundaries.
