The conductor had a wonderful coach in that whomever coached him. Also the musicians made this complicated work exciting from beginning to end. No ones time wasted at this performance.
"Le Sacre du Printemps" de STRAVINSKY a la réputation d'être très difficile, en particulier sur le plan rythmique. Leonard BERNSTEIN disait que c'est "une noix difficile à casser". Pourtant, le NYO de Grande Bretagne y réussit brillamment. Belle jeunesse ! Une interprétation fougueuse, tonique, vitaminée à souhait. Un bel hommage à STRAVINSKY, au printemps et à la Vie ! Congratulations, young people, and... many thanks ! You're wonderful !
I wonder if Stravinsky would be surprised at what age groups can now play his music. I'm guessing this was a better performance than the 1913 premiere.
Superb performance, but why so many empty seats in the hall? Any concert including (a) the NYOGB or (b) The Rite of Spring (in that order!) should be packed. Shame on the (so-called) music lovers of Birmingham! (And how much longer will talent like this continue to be nourished and cherished with our current Government's philistine attitude to the Arts and the teaching of music?)

At least one i the audience must spoil it with his ugly screaming. Always. OMG. Why not give us at least ten seconds of silence when the music stops.
