Mr Leon, This is Jeff over in the mountains of western Arkansas.
I have spent a lot of time researching wicking tubs, and decided to give it a try this year. My own test for my personal proof started out with 8 tubs with drain holes and 8 tubs with wicking chambers.
The tubs with drain holes have been planted for six weeks as of April 20, 2024.
The wicking tubs were planted the day of the eclipse April 8, 2024.
Today is April 21, 2024 and the plants in the wicking tubs are already bigger than the plants in the tubs with drain holes, and the plants in the wicking tubs already have blooms and those in the tubs with drain holes don’t have any blooms yet.
I haven’t started the fertilizer and mineral feeding yet, I’ve only watered, since the potting mix is new, and I’ve already proven to myself that wicking tubs work.
I’m curious as every week goes by and summer comes on as to the results but I’m already convinced this system works.
My tubs are outdoors, not in a greenhouse or high tunnel, I monitor water levels and rainfall, and it’s already amazing.
I will report more as the season progresses.

Thank you from Durango, Colorado ! First year I used your wicking tub method with the Epsom salt, Sustain and such I had awesome tomatoes. My neighbors were in awe of the plants. Last year tomatoes were not growing here for any backyard gardener. I decided to grow in the ground and it was a bust. Back to your way of doing things this season.

Hi Carl. I’m a rookie and will be starting soon with my wicking tubs. Any pointers? Maybe some issues starting out for the 1st time? Can I direct sow in the wicking tub or do you have to use transplants? Thanks. 🙂
@@rayvisco8545 I didn’t have any issues at all! I direct sowed into the tubs. It really is just as easy as Mr Leon says. I didn’t have enough milk jugs so I went to big lots and bought some smaller plastic storage totes that fit in the bottom of my larger containers.

Thank you for covering this subject which I know little about. How about treatments for pests/diseases of plants and fruit trees; my apples, raspberries, and so on, always have all kinds of problems which I don't know how to identify much less treat.
Hydrogen peroxide can be magic in the garden. It's a great fungicide, root boost, and bug "deterrent". Do a search for the best solution dilution.

Great video Leon. I've stopped using lime in my containers over the last few years. My water is alkaline and I find with the frequent watering of containers its enough of a PH adjustment.
I am using your fertilizer recommendations on 10gallon grow bags for tomatoes. When and what should I add to my bags and at what frequency?

This is my second year of gardening and using your amazing products.
As I am listening to this, it sounds like these fertilizers are only for tomatoes. I have been putting them in every bin for every plant.
