Just before it I was remembering it and you would not believe but there was rain inside my house. I was of course not crying, but the rain got my eyes wet.
I love how Adam brought up the fact that normally in a situation like Asahi’s a coach would talk to the player after the match on specific things to work on and build off of to improve their skills and mind set. Really speaks to the importance of Karasuno getting Ukai as a coach, since that game they would have been without an official coach and Daichi was probably running the practices still.
This! Great remark. That's a great input from Adam, and really marks how important having a coach is. I haven't realized that on my initial view so long ago, when we where all unaware of how good this will be. You can tell Karasuno players were all dealing internally with their faults, feelings, hardships, and no one can guide them. As far as good willed Takeda-sense is, he cannot help on that regard so it was really needed someone who can relate to those though volleyball moments. Even though Ukai is not experienced as coach, he was coached by his grandad , one of the greatest and for sure could make the difference. Just as Adam realized what were good traits on the best coaches he had seen, so can Ukai and hopefully emulate.
I wonder if they know how much Haikyuu helped in boosting volleyball in Japan. It’s BIG big. It’s a literal cultural reset. That’s how great Haikyuu is. 💕
More or less, every sport animes in Japan boosted the enrollment of that sport. It happened globally with old glory like Captain Tsubasa, and it's happening again with Haikyuu. But Eyeshield 21, Mix (and all Adachi wrote on baseball), the Prince of Tennis, Slam Dunk and the other famous Basket's one.... All inspired a lot of people to join that sport or at least to try.
That's true. Before Haikyuu became popular, junior high school boys' volleyball club was a much smaller number than girls' volleyball club in Japan. This is probably due to the overwhelming victory of the women's team at Tokyo Olympics in 1964. The impact still goes on as local amateur women’s team are everywhere, but rare for men’s.
Lydia's going wild with the Kageyama-Suga seesaw 😂 Btw, can we appreciate Ukai, in his ignorance, inadvertently helped bringing Asahi back to the team?
Hey Adam dont get in your head about any comments, your insight is incredible and i love the contrast you provide from Sarah 😂. I feel like you have the exact same feelings and reactions to things as i did when watching for the first time and can't wait to see you react to the rest of the show.
To Adam : There are many many many many more scenes like this coming at you lol! Now you know why so many of us LOVE this anime. To Sarah : Cry Harder! This is the 8th or 20th time I watched this scene and I am still having tears in my eyes. And I am a 50 year old man lol. Watching it over again allows you to pick up more things and emotions that may have slipped you the first time round. Totally enjoyable watching you guys interact over the episodes. Looking forward for more!
Tanaka was so emotional because he was also there when everything happened. He witnessed how their team became broken and now he's seeing it come all together again🥹
Asahi's journey of self-actualization to me shows the power of what team activities can bring to a person. He realized his own value in the context of what that two way relationship that exists within teams, and was able to give them back the effort he was getting from them. It gets me choked up every time I see him call for the toss and finally decide to be who he is meant to be for himself but more importantly for Suga and Noya.
I get what Adam means about enjoying something even though your brain goes "Thats not how that works". I'm a software developer and basically anytime there is something regarding coding or hacking in a movie, my brain is like "That doesn't work like that lol". Doesn't mean I stop watching/enjoying movies with hacking/software in it, but it for sure is going to be something I notice. If you know the mechanics behind something, the way media portray it just usually is more noticeable to you, especially if its less realistic lol Also Hi Adam! Hope you're enjoying episode 14, assuming you're still 5 weeks ahead!
That was an amazing discussion following the scene with the broken broom, I really appreciated hearing you guys discuss the idea of shouldering blame, and how it causes people to act.
I think Asahi's reaction to quit isn't the "best choice" to have made, but remember they didn't have a coach during this time. This team was fending for themselves before this year and Asahi (and everyone else on the team) didn't have someone to help guide them last year. It's one of the reasons why it feels so different for me with both Takeda and Ukai standing behind our boys, supporting them for the first time in the boys' high school career. For the first time, someone's standing in their corner. Shit makes me TEAR UP.
Yes, them missing a coach, and Asahi being really shy and introvert despite his appearance, also makes him feel helpless and alone, and kind of can understand why he just hide all that time. Perhaps having a coach would have not only made him get confidence and get back if missing one training but even possibly have more resolve in an eventual aftermatch review with a coach and don't abandon the team.
Exactly. I think we can't underestimate how much Asahi would have felt not only the pressure to hold up the team *during* the games, but also the overall pressure of feeling like he's holding up a team that's on the verge of collapse in general. Karasuno hadn't been good in a while; they didn't have a coach; their "fans" were jeering them at tournaments; several of the players the year beneath them had quit. Everything was looking like the team might just disband entirely, and Asahi couldn't handle it. It's not just the pressure of that one game.
I will just say that Asahi did come back. He just needed more time to get through processing his emotions and figuring out how to build up that mental strength (and he didn't have coaches or senior players to help him through it). Not everyone was born with incredible mental toughness and I think it speaks well of him that he was able to figure it out in the end.
That’s what I thought as well! Adams comment on how a senior player or coach should have helped him take a direction out of this (practice off the block hitting) is so correct, but the team really didn’t have that person helping from a bit more outside. So I feel it’s really hard to coach yourself in these difficult situations. Really happy that in the end it all worked out and now they also have a coach!
Everytime I watch someone react to haikyuu I always go “I can’t wait till they get to X they’re gonna go insane” I know Sarah is just waiting for the top moments to arrive
Adam is absolutely nailing these alayses, you can see why hes a good coach. and i demand a Last Dance style mini-series about Adam's Italian semi-pro league exploits! id say the neighborhood association team is like beer-league softball, or sunday league soccer
spoiler.... they had a full-out buffet of snacks and drinks every Thursday night at the end of practice. The players would alternate who brought stuff.
I really do like the input that Adam had talking for Asahi talking about after the broom breaks, then a more senior player or a coach would step in to try to try to get them on the correct mindset, find pointers, teach new skills. I am pretty sure that for this incident, they did not have a coach during this time, Takeda-sensei came in this year to try to fill the gap but during this incident I believe there was no coach and the players had fallen a bit, the fallen crows etc. Unless Ukai-sensei was still coaching during this time but I thought he was basically absent at the start of last year
ADAM, Your commentary is absolute GOLD tier! Love the insights to team dynamics and coach perspective. Straight to the point, no sugar coating, best! But maybe the whole anime culture might change ya little by little. Sarah, we might get more than just a tight throat from Adam further down into the series. :D
@@SarahPavanVolleyball Maybe with THAT scene at the end of S1 he might cry. That one is a serious hit for anyone I still cry and also one I show that scene to a non-anime friend and explain the previous to that scene in like 2 or 3 sentences and even she cry a little bit
I also can't wait to see Adam reaction to what happens at the end of season 2, cause from what we have seen until now, Adam an Sarah seem to have quite different opinions so it'll be interesting.
I appreciate Adam's reaction and analysis. It's pretty clear he's engaged in Haikyuu. Look at this face! 19:58 That's not the face of someone who isn't enjoying what he's watching. His insights are a really good compliment to Sarah's. It doesn't seem like he gets as swept up in the emotional rollercoaster as Sarah (I appreciate this too) and ends up articulating his thoughts really well. Sarah is the chills, goosebumps and tears (not a complaint!). This isn't the perfect comp but, when it comes to energy, Sarah is to Hinata as Adam is to Tsuki.
Adam is 100% engaged in Haikyu!! The investment is real!! Adam is the calm, steady one, and I am the emotional roller coaster, so what you are seeing is for sure accurate haha
Yeah, just let see if Adam will cry/almost shared some tears at least once before the end off this Haikyuu's 1st season. (Personnally, I bet at least one time :)
The team of Sarah, Adam and Lydia is like Asahi, Suga and Noya. Lydia keeping everything working from behind the scenes, and Sarah and Adam working together out front 🙂 LET THE WATERWORKS COMMENCE 😭❤️
29:09 The thing is that Asahi and the whole team in general didn’t have a coach or a senior that could guide them through that, but I love that Adam point out how important that is, I mean… we all know that Asahi is not the bravest one, but I definitely think they were trying their best… it must be so hard to keep going without someone guiding you, not everyone can have Noya’s or Tanaka’s resilience naturally.
I think that as level-headed adults, it's correct for Adam and Sarah to outright not accept any part of Asahi's quitting; it's counterproductive and harmful to the personality development that they were all going through. However, I do understand *why* Asahi walked away. It's meant to show how much of a wimp he is inside, a clear contrast with Noya in that very same scene who is fiery and proactive. They all feel the same heightened emotions, but the way they respond to those emotions couldn't be any more different.
I had a feeling that this episode might connect with Adam. I think this little journey with Asahi is something that everyone can relate to, everyone has had feelings of self doubt and been knocked down, and even though Asahi may have ran away for some time, he ended up coming back even though he wasn't ready and quite literally screamed his desire to play which was the final push to overcome his anxiety and lack of confidence to rejoin the team. This episode always has me feeling emotional every time I see it. Final note, loving the little dynamic and slight differing of perspectives with Adam and Sarah, this reaction series is something I always look forward to.
Loved today’s reaction.. Adam is killing it 👏🏼👏🏼 and Sarah (whispering- you’re my favourite Haikyuu reactor, but don’t tell anyone 😉).. also, I will take a moment to appreciate Lydia’s editing.. it’s awesome, funny and witty ❤
Hey Adam, don't feel pressured like you *have* to cry while watching this anime. I don't think I did on my first watch through, though I have definitely cried watching other people's reactions to the show. I guess I might just be a bit weird, but everyone reacts differently! As long as you're enjoying it and getting into it, (which you really seem to be) that's what matters, at least to me. We still have Sarah to give us the tears during emotional moments.😆Love the two of you together, looking forward to upcoming reactions!💙
38:46 Adam's reaction. The facial twitch, the clenching jaw muscles, the slight rocking back and forth. Sorry Adam, but I've seen it from men too many times before. That's the face of a man getting choked up and fighting hard not to let any tears escape. I'm pretty sure I can guess the exact moment we'll finally get to see him break and I'm so ready for it. Love these reactions! They're one of the highlights of my week.
This episode! Sarah you do you and cry it out! I definitely will I'm so happy Adam loved it, and I have to say I really love hearing what nuances in a scene he's drawn to that he found impactful - he picks up on little things that build the scene whereas I find a lot of others (not you Sarah, I promise, your insight and emotions are why I loved your reactions!) just think only about Asahi's call to Suga, which is the icing on the cake in the scene! But everything else makes for that team building feel that I adore! ❤
Episode 9 to me represents everything Haikyuu is supposed to be as a story and I always love seeing people react to it If you've ever played a sport at any level especially a team sport it is so easy to empathize with any one of the characters, we've all faced adversity or tried to lift up our teammates and it just presents everyones emotions so damn well. It also shows that inner self talk and doubt and I think it's so important to show that in media. Someone int his case Asahi might be the strongest, tallest, best player on the team and you would have no idea the struggles they're going through Not to mention all the growth the players have shown and the team finally coming together it's just the best.
It's so true!! One of the things I love about Haikyu!! is how it so accurately hits on such specific aspects of what it means to be an athlete and a teammate. Just incredible.
I love how Sarah goes "Did you cry?" after every minimal emotional scene HAHAHAHA I mean same, I don't understand how people cannot cry watching Haikyuu. It's just too powerful
31:15 It's important to remember that at this point they had no coach, their advisor literally falls asleep during their practices and all of the third-year students are no longer with the team. There was no one to come in and give Asahi any support, advice, or encouragement. Also, this was just a few weeks ago. It's hard to blame a kid for not knowing what to do in that situation.
I love how as a coach, Adam values the team interaction more. yes he appreciates the growth of each individual but the tidbits that shows cool genuine team interaction piques his interest more. Goes to show that as a coach yes you care about yout players individually but ultimately the team. great episode as usual. I was so eager to watch this episode last week I ended up rewatching the whole series for the Nth time and I am on season 4 xD
Loved this reaction. I've watched this episode so many times myself, read in the manga, watched it with the both of you and yet, it never fails to give me chills. Every single time I'm able to find something new to think about. As someone who is not a sports player, I probably cannot relate on the "volleyball" player level and the only perspective I have is from watching and reading Haikyu!!, hearing Sarah talk about it as a player and Adam talking about it as a player and coach. But what I can tell you is that I've felt emotions that Asahi, Noya and Suga have felt, just not in sports but in my group projects, competitions etc. The anxiety of having a responsibility within a team, wanting to not "mess up", losing hope slowly as things start to go wrong from your end and just feeling so responsible that you just wanna go away and want to end it quickly so you can go back to your comfort zone. I have a story to share about it. So back in 7th and 8th grade I was on a roll in extra-curricular activities. I did really well in recitations and won a couple times for different things, but all of them had used my mother tongue. Then one day I was called in last minute replacement to learn a speech in english (english isn't my first language and I wasn't that great at it) and the speech was for a competition the very next day. I'm horrible at cramming stuff, let alone put emotions into it in a language I didn't understand that well. So, I was alone at the podium, with a big audience in front of me and I forgot everything after the very first paragraph. I got so anxious that I had to open the paper and read it out. Of course, I lost. But the anxiety didn't leave me. And then there was guilt of disappointing my teacher. Then, I was called once again to take part in a competition where I had to perform a chemical experiment in front of a big audience and my partner had to explain it. I was really anxious after looking at the audience and even the principal was there. I messed up, spilled the vinegar thinking it was water, and well, our team lost. I never came up for any competition again for maybe 2-3 years. I only took part in cultural group songs where my solo voice wouldn't come out, where I could hide. Only during the end of my high school did I take initiative to be part of plays but I'd lost my identity as someone who could play "main" and solo roles. The growth of shedding the stage fright after messing up has been slow because now as a college student in my final year, I've never taken initiative to be a part of any extra-curricular activities. But in academic group projects which are more my domain, I've been able to make successful attempts at giving presentations, seeing my teammates messing up a little, and even leading a few group projects. My voice still gets shaky while holding a mic and standing in front of an audience, but now all I think about is keeping a cool head and presence of mind to try to reduce the damage, if caused. And all the things I faced in my school time was worth this lesson. Finding and working on solutions rather than sitting, wimping, worrying is far better. I have understood that I cannot reverse time, all I can do is move ahead with the lesson I learnt and apply it so that I don't embarrass myself or disappoint my teammates who have put in so much efforts along with me. But I have to be the one to change and adapt. And now when it happens to someone else who is on my team, I can be a little more perceptive and hopefully provide a little help by steering myself and them in the right direction. I love Haikyu!! so much. I've watched a lot of animes but trust me, there's just somthing about Haikyu!! that touches everyone at every level or domain of life they are at. Do give the Haikyu!! manga a try, the original work of Haruichi Furudate and his reliable editors who've made this amazing series.
Dude the OST on this episode is off the chain. From the silence in 34:33 to the peak moment at thend, every transition, evey change in the music queues you into what is going to happen and guides you perfectly. And the voice acting is on par as well, the change in tone from Asahi's VA from smooth to that yell, is = *cheff kiss
I hope that y'all don't get bogged down too much by the comments. Most comments are very positive anyway, but y'all's banter, knowledge, and charisma is why we keep coming back. This is a very fun channel and y'all are doing a great job!
Adam is observant and can always find the little interactions between members. He observes everyone as him is their coach.🥰 39:43 But before being the coach, Adam needs to remember everyone's names as soon as possible.😆
The point Adam said about having a coach to tell the players what to do after a tough match is something I'd have never thought about. It's absolutely genius that Ukai is here to close off this chapter and becoming a guide to the players who didn't know how to deal with the loss to Date Tech. Damn Haikyuu is fucking amazing.
I deeply resonate with this sentiment. Being a Deaf person who grew up playing baseball, I was the only Deaf person on my team. I did not have anyone who could truly understand me or offer both mental and emotional support. When I made errors, my team never judged me and they simply moved forward. Despite recognizing that everyone makes mistakes, there was always a nagging thought in the back of my mind that I was to blame. I deeply wished for someone fluent in American Sign Language or possess some form of empathy as a person with a disability to communicate with me, helping me grasp the situation, understand my teammates' perspectives, and realize that such missteps were common and that there's always a chance to improve. In essence, I can deeply relate to what Asahi-san experienced, but I'm thankful that his team stood by him unconditionally. With an official coach now in the picture, the future looks even brighter!
Did Asahi made it to the bro house? 🤣 Asahi is such a wimp but get one of those spikes in your face and you’ll have a concussion 🤕. Kidding aside, I just love rewatching haikyuu and again thru a different lens, I love seeingt he interactions between Sarah and Adam. Like I literally laugh out loud at how sarah would react to what Adam would say and vice versa. This is now my escape. Glad I am caught up with the reactions now. Haikyuu gives me so much joy it’s so unfathomable for me to imagine a life without it.
Anyone ever suggested Sarah to watch the stage play for Haikyuu????? Every Haikyuu fan should watch it cuz the actors and the producing team were doing unbelievably well, way beyong my expectation for "real man" plays. It's incredible to see them came up with genius ideas and ways to present a volleyball game on stage. The plays for the first three seasons are just legend. The actors are working so damn hard for the show. Please go watch it!!!!! I'm sure there will be Eng subs version somewhere. It doesn't necessary to make a reaction vid for it (really appreciate if you do so but know the play will be in hours so it will be hard), all I want is to share the amzing love and performance of the plays showed for Haikyuu 😭😭😭😭😭
Definitely feeling Sarah here. I’ve watched Haikyuu for like ten times for the past few years and this episode still gets the water running 😭 strongly disagree with ppl out there saying the more times we watch it the less emotional it gets. It should be like the more psychological connection we build with the players the more touching it gets! There’s just too much personal growth going on throughout this show and it’s hard not to cheer for their turning moments ❤
Adam made a great point that the dramas within the volleyball team wouldn’t have escalated further if there was a coach/senior players to add experienced perspectives. Everyone is emotional after a loss, but this is where the coaches usually earn their living by being able to guide/improve their plays. They do say you learn more from a loss than a win.
I'm not much for reaction content but when I noticed an actual volleyball champion is reacting to my favourite anime, I just had to check it out. Sarah gave so many good insights, is very passionate, picks up really fast on the stories and is just adorable. It was really cool watching Sarah talking about Haikyu. So Adam, don't hold back, I want to know your thoughts too, even if it means that you have to sleep on the couch for a week or two.
On the day you posted this video is the day I sat on my board exam. And I was a mess, I was anxious waiting for the result. Your video calmed my anxiety down and your word on "We do not quit" gave a boost of confidence. I wanted you and Adam to know that I passed my nursing board exam. You might find this silly but I go back to your haikyu reaction videos for comfort when I feel defeated. Thank you Sarah.
Just when you think the show is as good as it gets, it keeps getting better and better! Can’t wait for Adam to see actual games against other opponents. That’s when the show is super fun to watch
Every time I watch this episode I can't hold tears 😭 It's so moving and I'm melted too. And meanwhile I appreciate that Adam can always catch some details and shows his understanding. I believe that Adam must be a really good coach, who is respected by all of his students, and Sarah must be a great player who have a good connection to her teammates and friends😭 I'm not a native English speaker so sometimes I can't really understand all of the content in the video. But I do love that in this re reaction for Sarah and the first time for Adam it seems like Sarah shows her empathy for both the characters and us audience or haiyuu fans, while Adam is more like the one who analyse the situation and expain it to us. And it's fun to see how you get along with each other. It's warm and sweet. I do love the reaction from both of you as professional volleyball players a lot❤ By the way, this is my first comment on UA-cam and don't mind if I have some grammar mistakes pls😂 I am really fond of haikyuu and your reaction to it.
Nah whoever said to ease off on the crying is out of their damn minds. I cry every time I watch this episode, especially when Asahi yells out Suga's name... That singular moment cemented forever that Haikyuu is one of those works that were meant to be appreciated in their original language because the emotion in the voice acting even if you don't speak Japanese, it just carries across so much. Also no spoilers but I cry every time I watch the next episode too. But I can't help it, I just love Hinata so much.
Sarah, I am so happy to be on this ride with you a second time - and now with Adam as well. This might be my 4th or 5th rewatch and it never gets old. I look forward to your uploads every week and they really make me happy. Thanks for everything.
I didn't comment on the last video because honestly all that was on my mind was how good THIS episode was going to be and I didn't want to spoil anything ^^; glad yall could enjoy this together, great reaction as always, and I can't wait for Adam to experience the "oh you thought THAT was good? just wait" that every haikyu fan goes through while watching the series
Something I do want to point out is what Adam said--that a senior member or coach would have taken that moment to step up and instruct. But Asahi didn't have that, and combined with the fact that he just didn't enjoy the game anymore, I think the show makes a pointed comment about why people play to begin with, and why Asahi ended up coming back. He has a coach now and he has joy back thanks to the rest of the team. Obviously quitting isn't the ideal response but I do love the insight into why people would put the blood sweat and tears into the game!
These videos really make my day! I really love Sarah’s ‘did you cry???’ 😂 And I always do 😅 I also do wanna say I personally believe that the second time is going to be more emotional for some people. (like me) We know and love these characters and have seen them go through hardships and grow as a person and a team. I cried even more when I watched it the second and third time 😂😅
rewatching this episode for the 5th time in my life, i steal tear up multiple times during it. Its even more joyful to experience knowing everyone feels that. Truly magic
I can tell I'm really going to enjoy Adam's commentary later down the line at some great moments! Your guys reaction together is honestly the best thing a Haikyuu fan could ask for. There's so much experience, insight, and well-thought discussion, and I feel like I can relate to Sarah eagerly awaiting to see him react emotionally 🤣
Awww, Sarah, you don't have to stop your tears 🥺 I've been watching you since you started the first episode, and I love you because of how invested and emotional you can get. But it's not just that! You're incredibly smart, and I love how you understand the humor in this show 😄 I've watched many UA-camrs react to Haikyuu, and I think it's safe to say you are the best reactor. And now we have Adam as well, which is just as great 😍 I think my brain is wired more like his. My logic gets in the way sometimes when it comes to watching TV shows or life in general, but I can still enjoy a show even if some things don't make sense. So, don't worry, Adam, I get what you're saying 😊 Can't wait to watch more of this show with you. You make my Fridays so much more fun 🥺❤ And I definitely think we'll see Addam cry at some point 😁
I've already loved your reactions but after this couple reaction series, I believe this is the best reaction series that could exist for an anime. 2 professional volleyball players discussing both the sport and emotions, and not just because for the views but for the love of it.
I cried watching this. I just wanna say, I really love adam's reactions. Please never quit haikyuu and keep watching. It wont disappoint. I also love that you guys are professionals too, just brings so much insight.
I like that you pointed out how a coach would have stepped in to defuse the situation and reorient Asahi. Just another way the lack of having one has really been crippling Karasuno.
Haikyuu is the reason I picked up on playing Volleyball again at the age of 33 When I haven't played since Highschool. I Have great reactions but holy damn my jumping needs alot of work lol. Side note: I love that after 9 episodes, you can see Adam hitting those same understandings and emotions that Sarah feels as she watches, the same emotions well all feel as we watch it. Also Asahi quitting when he did is sort of understandable in Japan, they have their futures to focus on, he felt he wasn't good enough and needed to focus on what he 'should' focus on.
i look forward to your videos every week haha adam has been a great addition, i love sara's rewatch commentary, and i especially adore seeing you 2s dynamic lol ❤
What does it say that I got goosebumps to y’all’s reactions and Adam’s analysis @ 43:55 😭 these reactions are so entertaining!! Somebody do the math and see if Adam will be up to date before the movie comes out, PLEASE!
Oh it's not even close. Sarah took over two years to cover all 4 seasons. Between now and the movie are only 16 weeks. We won't even be done with season 1 yet.
I really appreciated the commentary on the fight between Asahi and Noya! As someone with bad anxiety who’s also hard on myself, I can tell you that I understand to some degree why Asahi quit. It wouldn’t necessarily be the choice most people would make, but it’s so difficult to overcome the hurdle of fear and self-loathing with something like that. Suga’s line in an earlier episode “don’t underestimate the anxiety we cowards feel” definitely applies here. I don’t think a lot of people understand just how debilitating anxiety and fear can be for those of us who feel it strongly and don’t thrive under that feeling. This also may seem strange, but I think quitting should stop being perceived as such a negative thing. I will say that I’ve recently learned the hard way the value of stopping things when they become too overwhelming or no longer serve you. That being said, I do think Asahi would have done better to properly articulate his feelings to his teammates, maybe ask for a bit of time, and sort it out that way instead of getting upset and then quitting right away. Nevertheless, I can understand him being overwhelmed and wanting to distance himself from that pain. This absurdly long comment I wrote is just to hopefully provide some more perspective on what Asahi may have been experiencing and show that anxiety is more nuanced and difficult to handle than some people think. I really like how the show explores it though, I’m glad it shined a spotlight on something like that and dedicated time to explain some of Asahi’s feelings.
The fact that this overwhelmed Adam is crazy and loving it as a viewer. Adam u haven’t seen anything yet…😮💨so many bg stories during matches is gonna leave you wanting more😮💨😭
I love Adam's perspective as a coach and it's going to be interesting to see it in the succeeding episodes. One of my fave characters here are Coach Ukai and Takeda-sensei. They are always behind the scenes but they're the adults I wish I had when I was growing up!
2:50 I do belived that is why I'm here watching. There are already many reaction channels, but what is difference from this one to the others is that you guys have actually professional exp. I wanna know how "true" haikyuu its, how "real" are some event or plays, etc.
Great video! loving see you two react to Haikyuu. For future reference, the games are played best of 3, third game goes to 25. When they play best of 5 fifth game goes to 15!
@12:15 I learned in my psychology classes in college that positive reinforcement still works and is EVEN MORE effective even if the manipulated know that they are being postively reinforced and manipulated lol. I've tested this theory out myself and it's true. I had this co-worker cook that used to make us our dinners in the restaurant that I waitered. I used to tell him how he was my favorite co-worker and that he was the best. He used to tell me "I know what you're doing and it's not going to work". I always got the most food during our dinner breaks LOL.
"I am not doing this alone" is iconic in the show and also fits this reaction video now that Adam is watching and experiencing all this with you! I love Adam's inputs and the fact that he actually speaks his mind on things like realisme etc. and still points out how much emotion and action they manage to pack into a scene, much more an episode.
As @Adam said a senior or coach would help them find a solution against that frustration, but to that time there were no coaches, they managed, trained and played by themselves
5.35 Ashai stares at his hand, the one he used to spike the ball and crush blocks. There is so much thinking behind that staring at his hand. The first time I watched Haikyuu I couldn't pay enough attention, but at my first rewatch (yes, I did many more rewatches), I was like "OH-MY-GOD!!" This show is so capable of building up things, and after a tons of episodes all those little things are put together in a moment of understanding and growing and evolving. It's just amazing
I was so surprised at how close Adam was when he predicted that the younger Ukai was struggling to get over knowing he wouldn't be a player, but stuck on the sidelines instead. Ukai's actual reason is pretty much in the same vein - he has so much respect for his time as a player, he doesn't want to do anything that might influence how he feels about those memories.
Happy to see how invested Adam is and, like a friki, I can understand the happiness that that makes Sarah feels. Seeing a love one loves the fandom we love... IS THE BEST!!!
Everyone thinks they're tough until Asahi screams "SUGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" and we all collectively get tears in our eyes.
Couldn’t agree more!
If you aren't affected by that part, we can't be friends. It's too good.
Yeah,
"SUGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" !!
I'm pretty sure they're gonna read this comment 🥹 ❤
I think Ran Takahashi was inspired by Haikyuu!
Adam is going to have to get use to "Anime time", where whole conversations can take place between the receive, the set and the spike. 😂
WHO IS TELLING SARAH TO EASE OFF THE WATERWORKS?! Haikyu is best when we feel ALL the feels.
No one is lol
Lydia's going wild with the Kageyama-Suga seesaw 😂
Btw, can we appreciate Ukai, in his ignorance, inadvertently helped bringing Asahi back to the team?
That thing just took off for outer space!! 😂
Hey Adam dont get in your head about any comments, your insight is incredible and i love the contrast you provide from Sarah 😂. I feel like you have the exact same feelings and reactions to things as i did when watching for the first time and can't wait to see you react to the rest of the show.
Adam LOVES the comments
To Adam : There are many many many many more scenes like this coming at you lol! Now you know why so many of us LOVE this anime. To Sarah : Cry Harder! This is the 8th or 20th time I watched this scene and I am still having tears in my eyes. And I am a 50 year old man lol. Watching it over again allows you to pick up more things and emotions that may have slipped you the first time round. Totally enjoyable watching you guys interact over the episodes. Looking forward for more!
Yessss!!! The tears will for sure keep coming from me!! "This is the 8th or 20th time...." 😂
Tanaka was so emotional because he was also there when everything happened.
Yes, yes, YES!! I love all of this
I get what Adam means about enjoying something even though your brain goes "Thats not how that works". I'm a software developer and basically anytime there is something regarding coding or hacking in a movie, my brain is like "That doesn't work like that lol". Doesn't mean I stop watching/enjoying movies with hacking/software in it, but it for sure is going to be something I notice. If you know the mechanics behind something, the way media portray it just usually is more noticeable to you, especially if its less realistic lol
Also Hi Adam! Hope you're enjoying episode 14, assuming you're still 5 weeks ahead!
😂 😂 sounds like you and Adam can relate to a lot of things... he is actually a software developer as well for his real job
That was an amazing discussion following the scene with the broken broom, I really appreciated hearing you guys discuss the idea of shouldering blame, and how it causes people to act.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!! It was fun to rewatch it after the fact.
We need Asahi, so I'm glad he figured things out
That’s what I thought as well!
@@SarahPavanVolleyballsounds amazing tbh
@@SarahPavanVolleyball All right, now I really need to know where in Italy (I'm italian) did you play? and Adam? I'm so curious!
Unless Ukai-sensei was still coaching during this time but I thought he was basically absent at the start of last year
Adam is our wise, thoughtful reactor ❤️
Can't wait for the end of season all star team where Adam picks the best players
Sarah vs Adam draft
@@Ny333OST I need it. Badly.
The tears will come!! I know it!!
That's not the face of someone who isn't enjoying what he's watching.
@@SarahPavanVolleyballI’m ready for Adam to have his “one level deeper into being hooked on Haikyu” moment 😂
Yeah, just let see if Adam will cry/almost shared some tears at least once before the end off this Haikyuu's 1st season.
(Personnally, I bet at least one time :)
The team of Sarah, Adam and Lydia is like Asahi, Suga and Noya. Lydia keeping everything working from behind the scenes, and Sarah and Adam working together out front 🙂
LET THE WATERWORKS COMMENCE 😭❤️
Wow.. that’s such a good comparison.. love this comment!🩷
I can get behind that haha
29:09 The thing is that Asahi and the whole team in general didn’t have a coach or a senior that could guide them through that, but I love that Adam point out how important that is, I mean… we all know that Asahi is not the bravest one, but I definitely think they were trying their best… it must be so hard to keep going without someone guiding you, not everyone can have Noya’s or Tanaka’s resilience naturally.
That was epic! I'm glad that Adam enjoyed this episode as much as we did 💖
Ohhhhh Adam is in DEEP. Some tears are for sure in his future
Seeing Sarah light up when Shimada handed Yamaguchi the ball made my day
I think that as level-headed adults, it's correct for Adam and Sarah to outright not accept any part of Asahi's quitting; it's counterproductive and harmful to the personality development that they were all going through. However, I do understand *why* Asahi walked away. It's meant to show how much of a wimp he is inside, a clear contrast with Noya in that very same scene who is fiery and proactive. They all feel the same heightened emotions, but the way they respond to those emotions couldn't be any more different.
This episode hit me at the feels. I have never played volleyball at high school but it made me wish I did back then.
I will never not cry watching that scene
Love that little dance Sarah did around the 16:10 mark. She clearly got excited but didn’t want to give any spoilers to Adam
Yesss I love that she noticed that too!
Adam is the addition we never knew we needed ❤️
@@SarahPavanVolleyball we definitely didn’t! But now that we know, we are here for it 🩷
Hey Adam, don't feel pressured like you *have* to cry while watching this anime.
Adam is definitely insightful. I'm enjoying hearing his thoughts as well!
I usually don't like watching intros to vids, but this one was too cute to skip.
That Noya shirt written "Great Talent Mature Late" give me chill 🥶
Adam is observant and can always find the little interactions between members. He observes everyone as him is their coach.🥰 39:43
But before being the coach, Adam needs to remember everyone's names as soon as possible.😆
Asahi is such a wimp but get one of those spikes in your face and you’ll have a concussion 🤕.
Hope you're doing better lately Icee! ❤
@@MasterPpv yes. Somehow. Doing good. In mourning but we must go on with life. ☺️
Ooooooh great question.... not sure if he's made it to the Bro House yet or not...
The _disgust_ on Sarah's face when Adam asks- "That's Daichi right?"
Lmao I can't with these two😂😂
Adam made a great point that the dramas within the volleyball team wouldn’t have escalated further if there was a coach/senior players to add experienced perspectives.
A couple of times Sarah was like Takeda showing Coach Ukai the Quick for the forst time🤣 Love to see both of your enthusiasm!
I watched this more than 100 times, WHY AM I CRYING AGAIN!!!!!!
I do love the reaction from both of you as professional volleyball players a lot❤
By the way, this is my first comment on UA-cam and don't mind if I have some grammar mistakes pls😂 I am really fond of haikyuu and your reaction to it.
But I can't help it, I just love Hinata so much.
i am SO EXCITED for the next 2 episodes??????!?! I cannot wait for their reaction this has been amazingly entertaining
Sarah is exactly like me when I show the animes I love to my friends hahahaha
Something I do want to point out is what Adam said--that a senior member or coach would have taken that moment to step up and instruct. But Asahi didn't have that, and combined with the fact that he just didn't enjoy the game anymore, I think the show makes a pointed comment about why people play to begin with, and why Asahi ended up coming back. He has a coach now and he has joy back thanks to the rest of the team. Obviously quitting isn't the ideal response but I do love the insight into why people would put the blood sweat and tears into the game!
Sometimes I don’t get emotional at all when I rewatch Haikyuu, and sometimes it just hits me so hard
So I’m here for all the crying
There you go.. one of my fav episode from season 1 ❤
Same with me... this one and episode 16 (and then the episode 25 bonus scene)
@SarahPavanVolleyball
I think that you'd say extra scene of episode 24 ;)
And the end of 17!
These videos really make my day! I really love Sarah’s ‘did you cry???’ 😂 And I always do 😅
I also do wanna say I personally believe that the second time is going to be more emotional for some people.
Truly magic
LITERALLY GRINNING EAR TO EAR WHENEVER I WATCH THESE I LOVE THEM SO MUCH
I swear their combination makes me cheese so hard 😂
I can tell I'm really going to enjoy Adam's commentary later down the line at some great moments! Your guys reaction together is honestly the best thing a Haikyuu fan could ask for. There's so much experience, insight, and well-thought discussion, and I feel like I can relate to Sarah eagerly awaiting to see him react emotionally 🤣
Awww, Sarah, you don't have to stop your tears 🥺
I've been watching you since you started the first episode, and I love you because of how invested and emotional you can get. But it's not just that! You're incredibly smart, and I love how you understand the humor in this show 😄
I've watched many UA-camrs react to Haikyuu, and I think it's safe to say you are the best reactor. And now we have Adam as well, which is just as great 😍
I think my brain is wired more like his. My logic gets in the way sometimes when it comes to watching TV shows or life in general, but I can still enjoy a show even if some things don't make sense. So, don't worry, Adam, I get what you're saying 😊
Can't wait to watch more of this show with you.
Adam needs a character chart or flash cards cause the list is only going to get much bigger
I like that you pointed out how a coach would have stepped in to defuse the situation and reorient Asahi. Just another way the lack of having one has really been crippling Karasuno.
This is definitely the best episode up until this point but it just gets better Adam!
39:34 “If anything, I’m gonna cry harder” sooooo TRUE
What does it say that I got goosebumps to y’all’s reactions and Adam’s analysis @ 43:55 😭 these reactions are so entertaining!!
Somebody do the math and see if Adam will be up to date before the movie comes out, PLEASE!
Oh it's not even close. Sarah took over two years to cover all 4 seasons. Between now and the movie are only 16 weeks. We won't even be done with season 1 yet.
they might take a while LOL busy adults with jobs and all 😂😅
@SarahPavanVolleyball mmm y’all might need to do like 3 episodes a night and upload hour and a half long vids 😂😂😭
this is the only series that invokes emotion in my every time i watch, no matter how many times i've seen it
I really appreciated the commentary on the fight between Asahi and Noya!
The second time you watch Haikyuu always makes you cry harder
Great video! loving see you two react to Haikyuu. For future reference, the games are played best of 3, third game goes to 25. When they play best of 5 fifth game goes to 15!
Reliving the moment where Asahi calls for the toss “SUGAAAAA!” Always makes me smile and gets my hyped up.
This reaction and discussion was everything I was expecting and so much more. These videos are a highlight of my week!
In from italy and i love you guys ❤
full body goosebumps. every single time!
1 step further into the haikyuu rabbit hole great reaction to this iconic episode
adam's "logic and reality" is like me and my autism and i relate to it so much. im so glad he joined you on this journey sarah
My new favorite line, "did you cry?"
The greatness of Haikyuu!!!
As @Adam said a senior or coach would help them find a solution against that frustration, but to that time there were no coaches, they managed, trained and played by themselves
5.35 Ashai stares at his hand, the one he used to spike the ball and crush blocks. There is so much thinking behind that staring at his hand. The first time I watched Haikyuu I couldn't pay enough attention, but at my first rewatch (yes, I did many more rewatches), I was like "OH-MY-GOD!!"
This show is so capable of building up things, and after a tons of episodes all those little things are put together in a moment of understanding and growing and evolving.
Glad Adam is enjoying all our comments
This was supposed to be a reaction episode, not a reflexive life speech, now I'm inspired by you guys 🙌🏻
