Hello! I’m the pastor of a non-denominational church called “The Sanctuary Denver,” where I have served for the last thirteen years. Previously, I was ordained in two Presbyterian Denominations (one liberal and one conservative). After fifteen years of pastoring one of the largest churches in the Evangelical Presbyterian Denomination, I was publicly tried and removed because of my refusal to confess faith in God’s inability and unwillingness to save-that still strikes me as such an utterly bizarre thing to say, and yet it’s true.
I now have a passion for preaching the Good News to a modern church that has come to believe the Bible is proclaiming something other than the ultimate success of God’s redemptive work in Christ Jesus. The name Jesus literally means, "God is Salvation." He is the Word spoken into the void creating everything that's anything, including you and me. The living knowledge that this Word accomplishes that for which He is sent, allows us to live the Christian life with confidence, peace and joy--to live as what we truly are: his body.
I’ve authored five books: Popular commentaries on the Revelation and the sermon on the mount, and more recently commentaries on the first two chapters of Genesis (The History of Time and the Genesis of You and God and His Sexy Body). These last two books address ultimate reconciliation more directly and point to theological paradigms that have been largely lost in the western church since the time of Augustine. Additionally, we recently published a small booklet titled All Things New (What the Bible Really Says About Hell).
