As a huge Wonder boy fan and having finished 90% of them this was has always been very special, the remake is near perfect and keeps the original intact while making beautiful and charming. By essence this truthely the first ever metroidvania by design and shame Sega never really banked on the series to expand it, the remake has been amazing. A new sequel would go a long way.

There is a sequel. It's called monster boy and the cursed kingdom! It's a much much longer game. Came out several years ago. Totally modern but inspired by the old games. It's on sale right now as I write this for 10 dollars on the nintendo eshop.

This game looks and sound great. Just don’t play it - it’s infuriatingly hard (the bosses are a joke though). Aggelos is the way to go.
