Dr. Fink is the real deal. He's an Icon that has been slept on in our era. We won't realize it until after he's gone. It should never be that way. Let's just hope he lives a long and prosperous life with his family and friends. His success doesn't make him any less humble and respectful. None of that MN Nice that we know about up here in MN. Much Love and Respect to that Man!!! -Jameraq & The 7th Revival
LOL I love this dude. Dr. Fink just just chillin' looking like an average guy!! I could bump into him at Costco and NEVER recognize him. So laid back and unpretentious. I'd be like, "Sure you played with Prince!" LOL
Great interview...Learned so much to understand your experience and maintained that Win-Win effect for all involved!! TYSM for sharing.. Was sooo great meeting you on 7/28/16!! What a memory for all time!!
I KNEW when she asked the question about what was his favorite album, it was going to be something pre Purple Rain and 1999! ALL of that work was RAW, and you can tell he was hungry!
Super great share thank you!! I always wanted to know the man behind the Dr. Fink surgery mask .... He is cool, still has his head screwed on, Mr memory man! amazing details shared here for us all!
I think...FINK, is the MOST HONEST!! (out of a male and female band member...) When it comes to describing WHAT THE Revolution CONTRIBUTED TO IN Prince"s Catalog. WE ALL KNOW...HE INITIALLY, PRIMARILY AND CONTINUOUSLY -- WORKED ALONE. HE DIDNT need ANYONE ELSE. PERIOD. (wendy)
Nicely done. I feel, we all probably feel like we know Matt. In my case more than likely as I went to school in neighboring Edina, and hung out at all the same MPLS haunts. ; /
+David Jeffery I know it was an extension of the Revolution, at least that's what I always referred to the SIGN O' THE TIMES band as. Still, my other favorite.
The Beginning, Matt Fink was there,he knows. Plus, give him props for staying with Prince! It was not always Fun and Easy. Prince was very Moody, and to follow that mood, can throw you off. Dedication baby!...........Props to the band members!!
music today is garbage.... Prince made timeless classics these young heads wouldn't understand. sad this era and sound is not on the map anymore. at least we still have the music that was left behind to play. I do believe that they killed him because he spoke out against the Industry. it's sad but Prince won in the end because he's with God now😉
He was under contract to produce someone else's album when Prince, last minute, asked him to drop it to play with him at the Rock In Rio concert but Fink couldn't. After getting a replacement, Tommy Barberella, Prince decided to stay with the new chap & Fink was out in 1991. Or so I've heard and read...
A down-to-earth legend. Hard to believe that Pops chilling in the video above is the same keyboard maniac ripping and riffing on this Oberheim OBX: ua-cam.com/video/YVZJNryFNXU/v-deo.html
I really like this guy. He seems like a great man.
Midwesterner for you!

Dr Fink....his keyboard solo on When Doves Cry is just amazing, especially the first time seeing it.
FYRFOX198 Thats Prince doing that solo
its Prince on that solo. Fink is just there for the live concert solos
The recording was played by Prince slow, then sped up. Dr. Fink had to learn the sped up version to play live.
Dr.fink was the coolest!!! love him!!
What a stand up guy! So down to earth! Good people !
Awesome Interview Learning Things About Dr Fink Looking At Him & Remembering Him In Purple Rain Time Flies When Your Having Fun

Great interview. Great to hear the inside view of an incredible iconic time in music.
I KNEW when she asked the question about what was his favorite album, it was going to be something pre Purple Rain and 1999! ALL of that work was RAW, and you can tell he was hungry!
This guy was way ahead of his time in terms of his appearance.

I have heard Prince worked all the time. 24/7. No one like him anymore.
There are lots of musical artists like him. Just look around more...
I like his line from Purple Rain. God got Wendy's period Reversed about every 28 days she starts acting nice lasts about a weekend. LOL
That dinner question is so sad...I'm wondering if he would change the answer to Prince...
He seems like a really nice guy..he definitely misses Prince...like us all

Matt is class.
This interview must have been conducted right before Prince’s death 😢
This interview must've been done about 3 months Before Prince's passing!
Aside from the Revolution, the only other band I'd call upon an absolute fav is Prince's SIGN O' THE TIME band.
+Redd Blitz half of that band is the revolution.....and the Dr. was there all the way up to the Lovesexy album
+David Jeffery
I know it was an extension of the Revolution, at least that's what I always referred to the SIGN O' THE TIMES band as. Still, my other favorite.
I liked the soundtrack but Under the Cherry Moon was anything but a good movie.
Yes indeed worrying about money

I am still doing my part! Here on youtube enter The Prophet of funk music video.....I hope you like it, I just want to do my part!!
Anyone know when this interview took place I imagine ti was before April 2016?
It's in the bio, I interviewed Fink in 2014.
Prophets of Rock TV thank u
why did he stop playing with prince
He was under contract to produce someone else's album when Prince, last minute, asked him to drop it to play with him at the Rock In Rio concert but Fink couldn't.
