Lee Grant is one of those great examples of the phrase, “a woman with a story to tell”. She has LIVED a life, and her long experience is one of those needed to avoid repeating history.

It sounded very much like she wanted to talk more about Sharon Tate and what it was like to work with her and get to know her, but the interviewer cut her off and redirected her which was VERY disappointing. The other leading ladies in Valley of The Dolls all became friends with Sharon. Barbara Parkins was a bridesmaid in Sharon’s wedding. I thought the juxtaposition of Lee Grant and Tate on screen made for an interesting chemistry in the film since they were so different. Tate was far less experienced and had great things to say about observing and learning from Lee Grant. It would have been interesting to hear more of what Lee had to say.

Lee provides valuable insight here about the blacklisting and how it was enabled and the effects, short and long term, on those affected.

Lee really looks like a different person now (i heard her mention on another recent interview that she had her first facelift at age 30 ) but my goodness she is so spry and vibrant to be close to 90 years old

She was stunning. However, people continue to age no matter what they've had done. A face-lift only lasts a decade or so. Cosmetic surgery can make you look better or different but never younger.

I know she’s had cosmetic surgery because she’s admitted to it. But now, it looks like a lot of fillers too. Her face looks swollen. Shes very fit and sharp of mind ,though.

Hmmmm, when people are sitting for an interview where they are expected to talk about their career and their life I don’t really see how “self absorbed” can be avoided. But maybe i’m wrong. Maybe she should have focused more on other people she worked with and people she cared about?

I would say unguarded. Some older stars (Olivia De Havilland comes to mind) still could not drop the movie star facade and be honest about anything during interviews. Lee has always been an open book.
