      The thing about Level 42, each of them is a master of their instruments. They used to play hardcore fusion/funk before going mainstream. Insane skills. Today I cant think of a single band this good.

    • @Jez2008UK
      @Jez2008UK 4 роки тому +2

      @@buzzfunk So true, but yet, I've heard that in fact the best drummer in Level 42 is Mike Lindup. I don't know how true that is because as an ex-drummer myself, I absolutely adore Phil Gould's playing during this era. His left-hand lead and how relaxed he plays. I was unable to fathom out how he he achieved the sound he got on It's Over until I saw how he did played that rhythm. So simple, so effective, yet so unfathomable ! Love how he introduced me to playing triplets on the hi-hat (well, not triplets but three-notes) and how he also introduced me to not playing a strict rhythm but a groove. Shame to see his playing deteriorate to today, he is but a shell of his former self.

    • @glamdolly30
      @glamdolly30 2 роки тому

      @@Jez2008UK Why do you think Phil Gould's drumming has deteriorated? I never understood why he left the group at the height of their success, especially as all insisted there was no falling out.
      Bizarre how many drummers there are in Level 42, as you probably know, Mark King started out as a drummer, but the band needed a bass guitarist so he pretty much taught himself. He picked it up very fast, and the rest is history!

    Such a great song and musical arrangement. Its misleading as it seems straightforward but... listen carefully to the harmonies and tones.

      Oh wow what a really OTT comment, What I said was fact & not unwanted bullshit!
      That would be like me saying- Paul McCartney & his band- The Beatles
      I have many people that like/really like my comments!
      I was not being rude or having a go etc

      Exactly my comparison made sense, So bloody confused + angry when that Michael Rawson opened his mouthy gob!
      Yea it is a shame when people like him really spoil the atmosphere!

    Amazing, my first proper concert when I was 9 and have the concert on VHS... Still gives me Goosebumps, little boy just started playing piano, he's 4, be so proud when he can have a go at playing this, hopefully a 'doable' piece :-)
