this is not easy, open handed, 16ths on the hi hat, it's an endurance test, it's difficult to make it through the song without slowing down... Probably only Jeff Porcaro would nail it perfectly...

The thing about Level 42, each of them is a master of their instruments. They used to play hardcore fusion/funk before going mainstream. Insane skills. Today I cant think of a single band this good.
@@buzzfunk So true, but yet, I've heard that in fact the best drummer in Level 42 is Mike Lindup. I don't know how true that is because as an ex-drummer myself, I absolutely adore Phil Gould's playing during this era. His left-hand lead and how relaxed he plays. I was unable to fathom out how he he achieved the sound he got on It's Over until I saw how he did played that rhythm. So simple, so effective, yet so unfathomable ! Shame to see his playing deteriorate to today, he is but a shell of his former self.
@@Jez2008UK Why do you think Phil Gould's drumming has deteriorated? I never understood why he left the group at the height of their success, especially as all insisted there was no falling out. Bizarre how many drummers there are in Level 42, as you probably know, Mark King started out as a drummer, but the band needed a bass guitarist so he pretty much taught himself.
