Thanks!
Another good one. At first I was surprised by the shadow color on the apple slices, but it worked very well.👍
Thanks Joyce!
Really honest and helpful insight into your thought process. The white highlight on the apple was 'perfect'. Thanks
Your approach to colour continues to please my eyes! It’s so appealing to look at!
Great video! I always struggle with keeping it loose and seeing other artists do it helps a lot.
I just tried this tutorial, fantastic and fun! This was my first oil painting (established watercolourist) and it was nice and simple. Thank you very much!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great tutorial. Love those brush strokes. Thank for sharing!
This is amazing. I love the texture of the brushstrokes.
Love the bright highlight on the full apple, really enjoying these small pieces.
Yes, the highligt brings it "to life" :-) Absolutely agree!
Excellent! 😉👍 that was a good demo all around to show the process
Your "Lockdown Crown" filling up with another gem Mike.
Your style lends itself to a "How To" book. Your method would benefit so many I feel.
Ever thought about doing a book ? Artists still prefer them.
Beautiful shadows too. Subtle colour shifts.
Thanks Dai. I’m so busy at the moment, but a book is a possibility!
Great video. I think what might also be making people think of Thiebaud is the halation/transition colors along some of the edges which make the colors pop; which was a hallmark of his style.
I think you did a great job with the apple. It doesn't look like it is blocky or like it's made of clay.
Another really informative, fun video. Thx
Just finished it, thanks so much for the inspiration!!!

Every artists work doesn't come from another artists work. This is good as always. Stopping by to share your food information! Shared.
Thanks!
First!! I love your videos - I am trying to learn how to paint myself!
Gorgeous clean colour!
Pretty
that's a really nice still life
Love it!
Thank you Michael! Greetings from Cape Cod!
Greetings! 😊
Green apple with caramel 😋
Looks pretty good.
Love this! amazing simplicity says it all...
Great work! I'm thinking of doing stuff like this soon! 🤗🤗🤗
Nice it helped so much :D
You have validated my urge to paint small. I used to think that 12by16 is small 😃
I enjoy doing 8x8 still lifes 😊👍
👍
Do you have any painting tips for beginners ? I’m trying to learn how to paint in this quarantine and your videos are helping me :))
I think you can learn a lot by watching painting demos on UA-cam and then painting as much as possible. Glad you're enjoying my videos!
Try drawmixpaint, youtube and website. Immensely helpful.
Yes to everything, beautiful painting. The greens look great, what blues and yellows have you mixed? I once made a banana on this style but only accomplished painters sell little pantings with fruits and Im not one of them LOL...it was a good light/shadow excercise anyway. Your time-lapse videos with the process are a must.
Thanks Martin. I used Ultramarine, Phthalo blue, Cad Yellow Med, and Cad lemon yellow. Wide range of greens with those colors! Glad you're enjoying the process vids.
chamberlainpaintings Thanks Mike!
Just beautiful technique. How about to show the palette? and hint from what pile takes paint from? Do you have courses? Again outstanding painting.
Thanks! I may do workshops at some point
Joseph Leyendecker. Great illustrator.
Thanks George. Yes he was.
Great tutorial, thank you so much :)
Love it!! Looks so tasty 👌
I am certain Wayne Thiebaud likes Mike Chamberlain too.
How do you like them apples 👏👏👏
Excellent video, some really good info! Did you just use one brush for the painting?
Thanks! Yes, I used a Princeton 6300 Bright #8
I'm glad you don't do the squarish apple. It seems to be a fad? I do a lot of Wayne thiebaud style paintings. Love the apple!
I'm not a fan of the squarish apple. Seems overly stylized. 😂 Very trendy tho
Hi there! Do you use a liquid/magic white prior to painting? Thank you- Great video!
No, I just tone a hardboard panel with burnt sienna. I don’t know anything about liquid white. 😊
How long did this take you? I’m just learning oil painting and I have a hard time layering without all the colors mixing together. Any advice is welcomed!
I'll talk about this in my next Art Talk video!
Beautiful! This might sound weird but when I look at shadows I don’t see purple or blue. I know it’s common to paint them that way and I really like it but I don’t see it. I paint them that way just because I like the effect. Is there something wrong with the way I’m seeing shadows?
what color do you use for shadows paynes grey or ivory black, anyways great artwork, like
Ultramarine usually
FIRST!!! for the second time in a row❤️❤️
Wow, you are ON IT 😊👍
how long did this painting take you to finish? i really like it!
About 90 mins 😊
Офигеть. Оч круто.
Your camera is probably dying because you have autofocus on. I consumes a lot of battery power ;) I love this video, and your general loose approach. I wish you'd put up a slower version. I'm gonna try to paint this next :)
why is it so difficult for me to paint with lose strokes? RRGGG! i'll have to work on it.
It takes time. Keep painting, you’ll get there!
Where is the picture from?
could i do this with acrylic paint?
Sure!
That's just great!! That's exactly what I'm trying to going for :)
How long did it take you to paint this picture? I'm still very into details and it takes me foreeeeever to finish one
Probably just over an hour 😊
