This is the only thing that has _ever_ given me "butterflies" in the stomach. This scene is unreal. It's so romantic and delicate, and I just really wish I could at least experience that level of intimacy full of gentleness at least once in my life. I mean, I have never wished to have a partner more than ever before after this movie. The initial plan was to be a single rich auntie favored by her nieces and nephews, not until this scene.
Or maybe that was still the goal? I wouldn't know, I'm just about to turn 19.
I used to feel the same way when I was 19. Now I'm 21. My whole life is upside down. And all I want is to be single, love and be loved. Idek how that's supposed to work.

If you fall in love, be greatful, bc so many people die without experiencing one, even when it's painfull it still amazing experience to have, i've fall in love so many times and even all of them didn't work out i am blessed to experienced such a thing, even the tears of losing ones we loved is truly worthwhile experience, well... It didn't always have to be a relationship, when you fall in love, you just know it, and my only advice is, don't expect anything from someone you loved, bc you'll ended up hating them and yourself

I understand you. I want what they have in this scene. But here I am, having online classes and feeling isolated. I still want to be rich and independent, but it sure seems fun to have a romantic partner (when they are nice to you, of course).
This scene was just perfect. They didn’t have to say anything. They just *knew*. This movie is an absolute masterpiece and it will never not be my favorite film.

This scene is the perfect conclusion to the fantasy vs reality character arc Amelie struggles with throughout the entire film. It’s easy to forget that Amelie isn’t a perfect, flawless, angelic being who prances around town doing good just for the sake of it. Of course she loves to help others, but she only began this lifestyle to make up for the lack of fulfillment in her own life. She grew up seeing herself as different and strange, so she tried to live in a fantasy where she could fill this void with something else. It didn’t work. She has to put herself out there, and risk being judged/hurt, to achieve true happiness in the end. Her bones are not made of glass. She can take the hits.
What an absolutely beautiful conclusion of her character!!

I have to say, I do not remember any scene as romantic as this one in American movies.
I know rightt! The slow burn romance is REAL. I mean i love hollywood production but a lot of the times when it comes to romance i think they always happens too fast and predictable and also boring.
This kiss and the kiss from pride and prejudice are my favorite in the whole cinematic universe. They’re so genuine, passionate yet delicate and innocent.

This film was nominated for an Academy Award for sound (as well as other categories). It’s sad it didn’t win because the sound design is brilliant. Notice how you hear the floorboards creak as they move relative to each other and the almost imperceptible sound of their barest of kisses. Brilliant and breathtaking.
I think this is one of the best "true love" scenes in any film because this is their first time properly meeting but no words need to be spoken. They both understand what they want and it's beautiful to see them being timid and comfortable at the same time.
And I never felt so alone...

oh god these french movies have clearly created a high expectation for my dating life and as much as i love this movie and especially this scene, I always think I will forever remain this hopeless romantic as nobody can ever be the match for these romantic expectations nor fill the void....

There are films that are good but fade in time, there are great films that escape attention but grow with time. This is such a film, a timeless story, achingly beautiful and this scene still reminds me what love feels like.
In France... when you kiss... that is it, you are together. I watched this at the Gaumont way, way back. Everyone and I mean everyone wanted them to kiss on the lips so the build up is amazing and when they do, you only see the silhouette as if you are not allowed to see it. That is why this scene is so powerful and also, so perfect.

I find this movie funny yet sad. As an introvert we may be happiness on our ways that we choses, but one way or another we frequently felt bad for being the way that we are. The ending is so satisfying, I bet the extroverts will not ever get this gem.

I love everything about this scene! That eye contact when she opens the door, when she puts her palm on his lips, the way she pulls him inside the room by grabbing his shirt, the way door closes on its own haha and then those delicate little kisses omg so passionate, very cute. I have never admired a kissing scene before I watched this. So so pure.
I’ve always felt a bit uncomfortable with kiss scenes, mainly because I’m a bit of a prude. I’ve felt like some kisses were too much, so passionate with little chemistry between two actors.
But this… this was so intimate and sweet. It made me feel as though I was intruding on a tender moment, enough to make me want to shield my eyes to give them privacy. It was nice to see a tender moment.

The first time I saw Amalie I remember from the very beginning it made me smile and it just never went away. Love. This. Movie. Watch it every year. It is a jewel.
I remember I've always wanted to watch this film. Back when I was as young as 10 or 12. But I never did. I'm glad coz this is not suitable for kids lol. But man, it took for me to turn 24 years old to finally see it!
