@@sincereeastman6972 I've already shown my mom anime. She likes anime and one of her favorites is The Seven Deadly Sins/Nanatsu no Taizai. Another is SAO. Pretty sure she's seen some weird stuff and I'm pretty sure this would be nothing new to her at this point.
It’s sweet to notice that Violet’s face doesn’t bleed the first time because she’s not actually giving in to her purest and most honest conviction. It’s sweet that her persona almost charters her through such a traumatic thing. I’m a twin and if I lost my sister, I can’t say I wouldn’t turn in too.
It never outright said that they were twins, considering they said Kasumi was older (Looks don't matter, Fraternal Twins exist). though, that would only give a 3 month window for them to be the same year level, so it's highly likely that they are twins. (There's always an older twin. might not be by much, but still) Ultimately, it's a similar situation with Futaba, how she blames herself for her loved one's death. Though, in Sumire's case, there's at least a correlation between her and Kasumi's death.
Max (Ryuji), Erika (Ann), and Xander (Joker) do such an absolutely phenomenal job with their voice work in the opening palace that I am left speechless every time I’m done with Kamoshida’s palace. Arguably my favorite palace and it’s a tutorial lmao.
Ann's voice actor's name is Erika Harlacher if you didn't learn it in the time since. But you're absolutely right. The First Palace was arguably this game's writing at its best.
I’d personally argue that the most painful is either Joker or Makoto. Joker because of the scream and the amount of blood, and Makoto because she nearly went bull in a china shop mad (seriously, how many people in that much of a rage could stomp a tile floor in heels and break it?) before finally tearing it off with one hand.
To me the most realistic awakening is Akira, Sumire, Makoto, and Ryuji. (Because they struggled to take off they're mask off unlike the other's where they take them off with out braking a sweat).
part of me feels really sad for jokers persona’s. Its like he accepts that he has to be viewed as a villain. And his evolved persona is literally satan
Isn't it kind of badass though? To be seen as a villain, but not to do so in shame--but with pride, because you know that even though you're considered the "bad guy", you're doing good things.
it's not satan, it's satanael. he was a rebellious angel in gnosticism that fought against the demiurge (yaldabaoth) to free the wills of humanity in the first ever act of thievery. when the catholic church essentially retconned all of the celebrated angels across various sects (lucifer, satan, ect.), they were amalgamated into a single super-evil that we know as the devil, with the express purpose of having a reason to persecute smaller sects of christianity who worshiped them. hence why satanael lost the suffix to his name, as -ael and -el mean "of God" in old hebrew. by stripping away the divinity in his name and combining him with numerous other entities from across old christianity, the catholics successfully labelled all other sects as heretics and devil worshippers. a huge amount of persona 5 is rooted in gnosticism, especially in p5 strikers if you've ever played it, with sophia acting as joker's companion and all. it's really interesting to cross reference old gnosticism with p5 for that reason, as there are so many awesome little parallels.
I just want to point something out: Maybe it's because he's a Wild Card/Trickster, but Joker was the only one who's transformation was controlled, per se. Everyone else had a larger, more destructive burst of energy whilst transforming. Maybe that was done intentionally to show Joker's mental fortitude and control over his power?
Normally, when a party member in a game becomes empowered by personal growth, they purge their weaknesses altogether. In P5, those flaws are stored within their Personas and are used as a fulcrum to surpass the people they were yesterday. This game takes their redemption a step further by remaking it as a whole and ceaseless evolution, leaving us with a much more satisfying gestalt.
Indeed. I played through P4 myself, yet I barely remember their awakening. P5's awakening are the best at conveying how great it felt to "let loose" after what they went through, and afterwards become the best version of themselves.
I like the detail of Sumire's first awakening where her removing her mask is bloodless. Watching again after beating the game, it's a subtle sign that she hasn't actually awoken to her true self, just to the will to fight back.
Honestly, i love that with each awakening you get a taste for the ideals of the phantom theives. being true to yourself, pursuing justice, and never looking back, among other things. it's really amazing, i think.
When 5A comes out and they inevitably have to make her playable that'll be her moment, like her rebellion is like her coming into her own like the rest of them
Most of these awakenings are so painful… but I love the story and the personality behind each and every single one of them. Ugly, elegant, filthy, gut-wrenching, all of the things. It’s who they are at their core. Edit: 2 years later I see my comment, and god my comment was pathetic. It’s updated in a more positive manner for ALL the characters.
I think its a criticism to society because men are more likely to hide their true self to fit in the standards, to the point it hurts But thats just my view on it
Yeah they kinda did Haru dirty lol. But her arc was kinda rushed tho. Still I'm glad you see more earlier on in the game than you did base P5. That much I appreciate.
haru is the only character i wouldnt miss if she would be gone, i never go to meet her on the roof because she is boring and has nothing interesting in her person.
@@guthetanuki256 I agree but she’s still one of my fav characters regardless. The only problem I had with her arc was it felt like Morgana was more the focus then Haru but she’s still plenty likable and her transformation scene was awesome.
Ryuji's will always be my favorite. A complete underdog who has been kicked into the dirt and was essentially forced to become a troublemaker. He's been told for so long that he's bad that he took on that identity. You can tell that out of all the Thieves he definitely wants to kick ass and finally stand up for himself. He just oozes that "ready to brawl" attitude.
Watching this makes me wish I could drop everything and go start a new file! Persona 5 is definitely one of those games that makes me wish I could forget I played it so I can experience the magic again. I hope Persona 6 is even better! It'll have big shoes to fill but I'm excited already!
I always thought that the persona's had different voice actors than the characters, but after a good listen I actually think they're the same! I mean, I can especially hear it with Haru and Milady, they talk the same way. Am I right or wrong?
@@defeitosespeciais2127 Almost of the personas are representations of the characters who summon them, just as pretty much all the shadows are for the people associated with them like the mementos targets and palace owners. For example, with the exception of Necronomicon and Pithos (which by all accounts are special cases to begin with), all of the other Phantom Thieves' first tier personas are based on fictional and historical outlaws because they're rebelling against society and the people who wrong them. The treacherous Milady stands out in particular is because Haru is betraying her own family and I really shouldn't need to explain why the trickster god, Loki fits Akechi to a T. The first mementos target turns into Obariyon, a _piggyback_ demon because he's a "clingy ex". Kamoshida turns into Asmodeus, the Demon Prince of Lust, at least according to Peter Binsfeld's classification of demons (neither the traditional seven deadly sins nor Binsfeld's classification are closely followed for some reason through the rest of the game though). Azazel's name means "Arrogant to God" (pride and vanity kind of go hand in hand) and is also known for being associated with sacrificial goats, _literal scapegoats,_ just as from Madaramae's perspective, he sacrificed all he deemed useless to him and if they disobeyed him, he'd figuratively scapegoat them, try to make it look like they were the ones in the wrong and not him. Also I'm not going to go into spoilers here but Azathoth is a Lovecraftian deity known as the "blind idiot god" (I'm also guessing he has some sort of connection to Futaba's parents considering Futaba's first persona is also based on Lovecraft lore but IDK) and Adam Kadmon is considered a Messiah according to some Jewish beliefs which would put him directly under god. Or in this case, Demiurge, the lesser, false god of Gnostic faith who in some tellings, Satanael rebelled against for the sake of humanity once he learned that Demiurge wasn't the Supreme Being. Hence why in Persona 5, Satanael is considered separate from Satan and Lucifer. (who in ancient religion were also considered separate I think?) As for this one in particular... Yea I honestly have no idea just yet, sorry been trying to avoid spoilers but also kind of not (hence why I understand the symbolism for Azathoth and Adam Kadmon).
Let’s think here: everyone says the easier it is to take off the mask the less you struggle or the less you want to deny the truth. But we gotta remember ryuji and others that had similar awakenings had harder secrets and masks so theirfor Kasumi had a soft awakening so theirfore she’s still hiding stuff.
P3 and P4 had some great awakening scenes but P5 setted a new standard, each one of them is unique and has a different reason and outcome. This game is amazing. Joker's and Yosuke are the best in my opinion. Also I think is a shame we didn't get to see Haru's. That could make many people who didn't do the social link (That makes it very clear she's just a sweet girl full of problems) believe she could hide something and be the traitor. Other than Akechi sure she's the most likely alongside maybe some confidant who could have some kind of benefit. The only Awakening which is really shallow and handled pretty poorly narrative wise is obviosly Kasumi's. She should have awakened in the third semester, maybe without the entire world knowing she would be a phantom thief before playing Royal, it would have been a nice surprise since atlus didn't add new playble characters in their rereleses from FES.
The reason Morgana can use his persona without ripping his own mask is because he is already a shadow , and a shadow that belongs to another persona user, zorro is known to be a character that hides his true identity so just like him Morgana has been hiding his true identity and the hints of his identity is seen when he instinctively thinks of himself as being some handsome dude that has high social skills.
My all-time favourite is Makoto's. Her escaping the shackles of how adults and even her peers viewed her and accepting who she is is very well deserved. Her struggling to rip of her mask shows how hard it is for her to show her true self, to that I love. She's my favourite of the thieves ^_^ Plus her Persona's freakin' amazing
When Kamoshida has so much bad influence on others that he is responsible of 3 awakenings instead of the other bad guys, being responsible of only 1 awakening each
How to get Persona in 5: *pain and gain The characters: okay How to get Persona in 4: *accept and say yes The Characters: NO Yu: DAMNIT NOW I HAVE TO FIGHT ANOTHER BOSS
I absolutely love watching the masks being ripped off and blood spewing out everywhere. Like the way everything's framed and animated is so satisfying to watch
There are 2 things I've noticed, with Sumire and Maruki (Separately) Sumire's outfit is clearly inspired by Joker's. it has the red gloves, the black coat and general colour scheme. this is likely intended to be a nod to how much she relied on Joker in the past, and how much she looked/looks up to him. and with Maruki, Azathoth is crucifix-shaped, and even looks like a body attached to it. this likely represents how Maruki's willing to do anything for the happiness of others, even if he had to sacrifice himself, like how Jesus sacrificed himself to cleanse the sins of humanity.
I was stoned out of my mind once and playing smash with my homies. Joker had just come out and I bought the DLC pass and we were hyped. Anyway we were all stoned out of our minds and it was my Bayonetta vs my friends Joker and I go "Holy shit, Joker is a Jojo, Arsene is his stand, and Bayonetta is his hot sexy mom" and i dont think I've ever seen that many stoner nerds go "fuuuuuuuuuuuuck you right" at the same time. Actual A1 vibes
“Was your previous decision a mistake then?” “It wasn’t.” The most powerful moment in the game for me. The moment I knew I was playing something far more intelligent than I’ve ever played before.
I think it's really powerful that Makoto is the only character of the Phantom Thieves to DELIBERATELY call for her persona, BEFORE struggling. Like, she was so ready to face her problems head-on that she accepts the struggle before her eyes even turn yellow. Ann was close, but she struggled for a bit in pain before calling for Carmen. It really says a lot about her character and how tenacious she is in the face of adversity, especially now that she's tired of hiding away from them.
I like how the longer they spend to tear thier mask they look like they don't want to really show thier true self and the ones who teaf thier mask very easily are the ones that haven't shown hier true self at all or they just have already done it maybe
Her Arcana card being black instead of white, Faith not being an standard Arcana for the Tarot, and how her awakening never switches to Will Power like every other awakening... They barely tried to hide the fact something was off with Kasumi and the real plot twist is what was off with her.
My favorite bit is during the summoning of Satanael when Morgana, I think, says who better to deal with a false god than a demon lord. Such a perfect summary of Persona 5’s ideals. Sometimes the institutes meant to help or protect us are flawed or being abused by those in power. When that happens people need to stand together and say that’s wrong and fight to fix it. God damn I love Persona 5
Just a reminder that the pervy fiance is a reflection of Okamura. The dude looks at the prospect of marrying his daughter off for a business relationship and thinks that her being a highschooler will be a "turn on" and that her fiance will just "use her until [he gets] bored". Honestly worse than kamoshida.
The comparison between "Kasumi"'s awakening and Sumire's awakening is actually really amazing. There's lots of symbolism there and it's really nice foreshadowing.
Can i just be honest here when joker awakens his persona and his eyes turn yellow i wished they stayed like that during combat same goes for the others except morgana

Speaking from experience?
It’s sweet to notice that Violet’s face doesn’t bleed the first time because she’s not actually giving in to her purest and most honest conviction. It’s sweet that her persona almost charters her through such a traumatic thing. I’m a twin and if I lost my sister, I can’t say I wouldn’t turn in too.
It never outright said that they were twins, considering they said Kasumi was older (Looks don't matter, Fraternal Twins exist). though, that would only give a 3 month window for them to be the same year level, so it's highly likely that they are twins. (There's always an older twin. might not be by much, but still)
Ultimately, it's a similar situation with Futaba, how she blames herself for her loved one's death. Though, in Sumire's case, there's at least a correlation between her and Kasumi's death.
“Well, if those really are the shoes you’ve chosen…” ✍️🔥🔥

part of me feels really sad for jokers persona’s. Its like he accepts that he has to be viewed as a villain. And his evolved persona is literally satan
Well no its satanel..before the fall n becoming satan
I just want to point something out:
Maybe it's because he's a Wild Card/Trickster, but Joker was the only one who's transformation was controlled, per se. Everyone else had a larger, more destructive burst of energy whilst transforming. Maybe that was done intentionally to show Joker's mental fortitude and control over his power?
That’s a pretty good theory, it makes sense to me.
I like how in the anime when he takes off his mask, it explodes when it hits the ground.
Yeah, that's right.
Except for Sumire, but the reason for that's fairly obvious too
@@zionnemakoma1398So what I’m hearing is that Joker needs a magical girl transformation /s
Everyone : Pain and blood
Yusuke : Very well, i will go along with this.
Honestly, i love that with each awakening you get a taste for the ideals of the phantom theives. being true to yourself, pursuing justice, and never looking back, among other things. it's really amazing, i think.
Im a little sad Futaba never got a true mask scene, but the fact that she awakened in a more P4 esque style is a nice nod
She wasn't rebelling; she was finally accepting what she didn't want to admit.
When 5A comes out and they inevitably have to make her playable that'll be her moment, like her rebellion is like her coming into her own like the rest of them

Sumires Awakening remain the best for me, since her character is a deconstructed cinderella-story
Woowww , can you explain ?
(who in ancient religion were also considered separate I think?)
As for this one in particular... Yea I honestly have no idea just yet, sorry been trying to avoid spoilers but also kind of not (hence why I understand the symbolism for Azathoth and Adam Kadmon).

With Akechi's pose when he's summoning Loki... It would have fit just as well if he had said "Come, ZA WARUDO!"
I love all of these. The awakenings are just the coolest things that happen.
Jokers smile while he changes gives me goosebumps every time
P3 and P4 had some great awakening scenes but P5 setted a new standard, each one of them is unique and has a different reason and outcome.
She should have awakened in the third semester, maybe without the entire world knowing she would be a phantom thief before playing Royal, it would have been a nice surprise since atlus didn't add new playble characters in their rereleses from FES.
ann’s awakening just gives me goosebumps! her yell really came from the bottom of her lungs!
No dude, that’s a bike!

I absolutely love watching the masks being ripped off and blood spewing out everywhere. Like the way everything's framed and animated is so satisfying to watch
There are 2 things I've noticed, with Sumire and Maruki (Separately)
Sumire's outfit is clearly inspired by Joker's. it has the red gloves, the black coat and general colour scheme. this is likely intended to be a nod to how much she relied on Joker in the past, and how much she looked/looks up to him.
and with Maruki, Azathoth is crucifix-shaped, and even looks like a body attached to it. this likely represents how Maruki's willing to do anything for the happiness of others, even if he had to sacrifice himself, like how Jesus sacrificed himself to cleanse the sins of humanity.
I like the Persona 4 reference that is Futaba’s awakening, nice touch
I just noticed that personas are kind of basically the same as a stand.

You JUST noticed!?
I just love Akechi’s reveal
It really screams “I have nothing to lose”
I love how Joker's awakening music is a remix of Persona 3's Battle for Everyone's Souls. I've only just noticed that.
Or maybe they struggle less because they WANT to be free from the damn mask they casted on themselves🤔

Kasumi was the only thief who didn't bleed when she ripped off her mask. And that's how I knew something was up.
The fact that her confidant only had five levels didn’t trigger any suspicious vibes?
