That's the plot of the books, and it kinda bugged me, respectfully. The show would have to make Sauron (elf) very charismatic/manipulative for it to work.
Mr and Mrs Smith with a new couple is a horrible idea. The whole point of the show (seemingly) was to showcase a developing relationship but with spy elements. The idea of essentially seeing all of that again but with a different couple is such a huge and immediate turn off. The only way it could MAYBE work is if we start the season with the new couple already a year or more into their relationship. But then it's like we're just watching that old movie. I dunno it just seems like such a bafflingly bad idea. Hope they see feedback and do whatever they can to get Glover and Erskine back. Even if it means delaying the season

Would have lent a second season a whole different dynamic. But no, we're gonna wind up with a copy of the first season's structure but with different actors. The Rings of Power trailer is just... why? They really needed a trailer that would've maybe gotten people back onboard, but even the trailer is just overall underwhelming. There were okay aspects to the show, but as a whole it just didn't work, especially the last couple episodes. At the very least I hope Galadriel has gotten a re-write so we can actually root for her.

As a life long fan, I'm interested in what this live action Tomb Raider may be like. From what I've seen on the official Tomb Raider social media, it would seem they are merging the OG Lara and the more recent Lara and trying to create a singular, middle ground Lara for fans to get behind. It's unclear what's next for Lara overall, both in video games and other media. I hope whoever is forging the next chapter for this IP, for the next 5 to 15 years potentially, does a good job at getting the formula right. As for the new show, I'm going to wait till we get actual casting announcements, images, a trailer, etc. till I even form a feeling about it. I don't want to be negative as a fan, until there's reason to be. haha
