Sarah sang a very beautiful version of this song together with Andrew Lloyd Webber in her "Christmas Symphony" concert Sunday, December 20th, 2020. Unfortunately this version of this song is missing on UA-cam. What a pitty.
@@Lewisjls ....as in football, there are numerous leagues, she just happens to be top of the premier, a particularly good, extremely talented performer. To make comparisons is futile, every piece of music will be a variation on the same, and everyone enjoys it according to their taste and choice.
It is not her big song, yet leads the choir so well. You would enjoy it as a simple song if you see she made some big transitions later on. (Sometimes a kid singing gives more joy than a fluent adult singing. It is funny yet bright and brave).
The movie may have been released in 1973. But Sarah and ALW were married in 1984. I don’t think Sarah was married in 1973,,,, as she was only 13 years old then. I will ask her... as I’m seeing her in a few hours.
@@robertmitchum2972 Ah ok. Really didn't know their married years. Please give her a fan's best wishes and kindly tell her I once again enjoyed her recent Xmas special-- shown here on PBS in the US. Her last outfit, the hot pink dress, was terrifically smashing on her.
As soon as I heard it, I recognized it from this video. It was a lot slower and the arrangement was made with orchestra. Wasn’t my favorite but it was OK
i cant help it , sarah will always be my favourite singer of all time , her talent is endless BUT I had to laugh at this as this song sounds so Germanic to me and the kids remind me of the hitler youth , i couldnt stop laughing , but hey Sarah was fantastic as always and so wer the kids
The kids were stiff but they weren’t like Hitlerjugend at all. Maybe they were stiff because Sarah Brightman was stiff… I don’t know at all because Sarah Brightman is one of the greatest singers in the world.
The Odessa File is about a secret organisation that helps Nazi war criminals escape justice. But I think Rice & Lloyd Webber were also channelling Elvis' Wooden Heart. Tim Rice is a big Presley fan.
@@tonydalton459 Christmas dream by Lloyd Weber and Rice was written for the soundtrack of The Odessa File in 1974. Perry Como was chosen to sing this song for the film. The film is supposed to take place in 1963 West Germany at the start of the Cold War. The beginning of Como‘s version starts with a very German feel with the sound of the accordion. The drums intensify indicating tension as the song progresses. He emphasizes a few times “We need it to calm us . . . “ indicating how important the dream is. The addition of the London Boys Singers is the piece de resistance. The Trashcan Sinatras version is slower and may be too slow. The music feels electronic and there doesn’t seem to be any mood change throughout the song. Didn’t like the visuals as well. What’s with the street light?
I first heard Perry Como's version and fell in love with the song. Sarah is a sweetheart, and she does a great version as well.
NEVER HEARD OF THIS WOMAN BUT SHE CERTAINLY HAS A VERY CLEAR, CLEAN & BEAUTIFUL SINGING VOICE!
Wow, guess you never heard her in "Phantom of the Opera" on Broadway.
Love this Christmas song and Sarah brightman singing it.
I prefer Perry Como and the children's choir with a verse in German.
0h yes I love his version also there both exclent
and what about isla st clair's version?
@@1948DESMOND Yes ... what about it? 😂😂
I love Sarah forever.
Great song. Merry Christmas everybody.
Merry Christmas, David!
So beautiful, playful and enchanting! Happy Birthday, Sarah!

I love this song so much it’s my favourite song ever
I watched this video on 4 April 2020!

Actually came here looking for that version!
In response to Carlton West's comment, Sarah Brightman is the best female vocalist in the world ever as far as I'm concerned, not just 1980-2005.
Not in the same league as Rebecca Evans.

Thumbs up if you are listening to it in 2023
I like the German part when perry Como did it
Cute!
Like it.
Nice version
SO CUTE
that's cute!
Best female vocalist in the world, 1980 - 2005.
You need to get out more if you really believe that!
Hardly.
She’s the top selling soprano in the world for a reason!
@@erniet9935sorry... She's right...
Very nice version but of course the original with Perry Como is the favourite.
It is not her big song, yet leads the choir so well.

(Sometimes a kid singing gives more joy than a fluent adult singing. It is funny yet bright and brave).
It belongs to Perry.
👁️ 👁️
And it was written by Andrew
Perry Como sounded like he was dozing off.
Love
So pretty
She is so pretty; and of course, her husband (LLoyd Webber) wrote it and I think, they werew still married, in 1973-74.
Myles Garcia I think you mean 1983-84?
This was done slightly before there marriage in 1984...
@@robertmitchum2972 No. The movie, ODESSA FILE, from which the song comes from, was released in 1973.

Too cute. It's actually a sad song.
Cannon and Ball!
Very nice, but it’s missing the kids Chorus singing in German.
No one sang it better than Perry Como!
Bring back Perry Como, just saying from Glasgow 😎 🇬🇧
Absolutely right, this is truly awful version.
NO GERMAN LYRICS?!? WTF!
Look up this version on here The Odessa File-A Christmas Dream ( the choir sings in German)
Written for The Odessa File by Lloyd Webber.
PRAYING JESUS, WE RECEIVE YOUR LOVE, FORGIVENESS AND PRAYERS, TO GIVE AWAY, I AMen
She will sing this in her incoming Christmas streaming. I don’t know how will it sound with her whispering breathing technique?
As soon as I heard it, I recognized it from this video. It was a lot slower and the arrangement was made with orchestra. Wasn’t my favorite but it was OK
I liked the streaming version too. It was quieter yet fuller.
s5 ep1 the cannon and ball show :D.
Nothing against Sarah, but Perry Como's version is King.

Takes some getting used to, but good!
Same, lol. Didn’t like it the first time I heard it. Now I’m looking forward to listening to it next Christmas 🎄 😀
I was 10 yrs old 😂
This is such a beautiful song but she destroys it! No one can do it like Perry Como.
Checkout the Trashcan Sinatra’s version. Unbeatable.

Which show is it?
She's extremely exclusive and a voice that is a falsetto voice
Bigger than Barbra Streisand and has sung privately for the Queen of England
Don’t think this is playing to the strengths of her voice
Perry Como nailed it...this was not music to my ears at all!
