Subaru BRZ "Train Horn" Overview and Demo
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 жов 2024
- This is a video walk-through of the "train horn" installation in my Subaru BRZ. This is a kit from Hornblasters (www.hornblasters.com), specifically the 'Conductor's Special 244 Nightmare Edition'. The major components are a 2-gallon air tank, Viair 444C compressor, and the Shocker XL horns (4 trumpets.)
To skip to the sound comparison, jump to the 5:00 mark. I honk them once at the far end of the lot, and again half-way back to the camera.

"meep"
*WAAAMPP*
Accurate.
Sounded like an orchestra tbh
you made my day
You just gave me the best place to put the Horns thank you bro
This is so insanely extra to use up trunk space in a BRZ for a horn 😂 this is so funny omfg
Clownish 🤣 but the aged old question- why not
Nice I thought train horns were to big for small vehicles in terms of a honk, but this convinces me to install one, I need one especially where I live drivers here in Houston, TX are something else 😒.
Clean install but I would have liked to hear the horn blown longer. I installed a 3 horn kit on my truck and we scared a few people on the street, or even better blow it when stuck in traffic under an overpass... and start a horn Musical with other commuters... my kids have a good laugh.🤣🙄🤪
What would have been really cool is blowing the horn while driving away at speed to create the doppler effect that you hear from real trains.
@@stopthephilosophicalzombie9017 that would’ve been awesome
Omg my dream mod. Cant believe someone else did it to an 86, I thought I'd be the only person who would think of doing this lol.
Wish I had the skills to do this install :(
Got a 2014 Ford Mustang GT, and I just ordered the shocker xl, 2 gallon tank, and dual 380c compressors. Hopefully I'll be able to fit it lol
How much does the Shocker go for?
Great video and good installation.
holy shit lol
This is the coolest video. Awesome setup
great install, making me want to do this with my 2019 Acura RDX :D
that is fantastic. great job.
lol! Love these horns, a bit scared of the placement, should hide them up under the bumper in the right or left side crazy loud even there! So you can not have them under the hood. and you can add cool bits under the hood. your also about 14 the way there to put air ride on the car! Love the switches goes with the aesthetic of the inside.
Cool setup!
That's what I'm talking about!!!.
Clean install
Worth the wait!!!!
I've got a gt86 so I'll be copying this set up
Great video! Liked, subscribed.
I've always wanted to install one in my WRX
Idk where to put the horns, as we have a top mount intercooler
Gonna put some of these on my WRX! Probably gonna end up putting them in my bumper or somewhere underneath the car though. Need all that engine bay for modifications :)
this is the best one, a legit real train horns are the ones people need lmao
As a scubi-turd mechanic I can attest that you have really cool horns on a shit car ☺. Very clean install.
Beautiful sound but sooo much work!!! I own an 86, same car, same wimpy stock horn. Was thinking of putting the 4 note GM/Cadillac horns in but have to figure out how to wire them up, certainly not as involved or sophisticated as your monstrous setup but I imagine it would serve the purpose.
The wiring for the 4 note horns isn't bad either. I had those previously (if you didn't see that video.) Just run a new lead from the battery, and to a relay. From the relay, you can power all four of the Caddy horns. And then all four horns need to be grounded somewhere. Trigger the relay with the existing horn lead. Then just find a place to mount the horns. I mounted them behind the passenger side fog light area as there was lots of space, but that's an enclosed area and wound up muffling them.
@@seriesblueadventures9832 Do you still have the video of the 4 note horn? I thought about this train horn setup for mine but it seems high maintenance plus I don't know the street legality of it if I plan on using it often. I just need something that will get attention on the interstate by the careless drivers and truckers who don't pay attention to small horns with their ear buds jamming out to Celine Dion, Pussycat Dolls, and Spice Girls! That's what I imagine they listen to. :)
@@a.o.647 They're on this channel! It's a short 5 second clip. If you can't find it just search "BRZ cadillac horns" and you should find it
@@seriesblueadventures9832 Awesome thanks I just subscribed to your channel. I like the custom phone mount. I was thinking of making one out of a block of wood and drilling a hole for one of those mounts with the arm that plugs into a cig. lighter since the 86 (maybe BRZ as well) has a small cubby hole under the AC/Heater controls.
Ohhh shit that’s dope
I really like how you wired it. Would you mind explaining how you intercepted signal. I want to use my stock horn button like you did with a toggle between the two horns. I couldn't pick up from this video. Thank you
Check out my write-up here: www.seriesblueadventures.com/toggle-switches-and-custom-wiring/
Smart setup.
So you are not too concerned about the heat from the engine affecting the equipment?
What tool did you use to trim the trumpets?
I am installing an commercial vehicle air system and horn and like your thoughtful and clean setup.
Nope! They've been in this spot for many, many years now without any issues. I don't remember what I trimmed it with. Probably a Dremel?
@@seriesblueadventures9832 Donyou think positioning some trumpets facing back, would be effective?
Does your setup effective get the attention of drivers behind your car, as well?
Thank you, for this series.
I just got a Suby and I love virtually everything about it besides the horn. Time for the train upgrade. Btw, how many people have you given coronaries to? Btw, can you use the compressor for other uses like inflating tires and cleaning debris?
Just now seeing some of these comments so just answering anyway: I've had a bit of fun spooking my friends, but I generally don't go around honking them as a "prank" on random strangers. I honestly don't honk them very often; only when some moron properly deserves it, lol.
And yes, I added a quick connect coupler to the tank, and I keep a 30 foot air line coiled around the spare tire in the trunk. I use it to top off my tires, and have even run air tools to break a stubborn bolt loose here and there (the tank isn't big enough for anything more than a quick blast with an air tool, but that's often times all I've needed.)
@@seriesblueadventures9832 Excellent! Thanks for the reply. Great project.
Need a instructed video on how to install these because all I see are these being installed on trucks and not enough cars
I want one for my Rivian R1S but I don't think its possible.
Nice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great job! Where did you get the fabric (?) that wrapped the wood base?
JoAnn Fabrics :)
@@seriesblueadventures9832 Wow! Cool; thank you! Beautiful Subie.
Where do you Buy The relai and Fuse box?
So I have a 2018 legacy with similar clearance. I bought those exact horns. I am wondering what did you mount the horns to?
What PSI do the horns need?
How hard was it to route the air line through the firewall? Bought a kit and it comes in a couple days.
Just saw this comment, so answering for the benefit of others since I assume you sorted yours already. I just cut a hole in the existing grommet in the firewall where the main wire loom comes through and jammed it through there. Not too hard, just annoying because the line doesn't flex easily and it was a bit of a PITA to bend it through there while laying in my back under the dash.
@@seriesblueadventures9832 yeah I used a wire puller and wire lube and pulled mine through. I actually just ordered a wrx so I went ahead and took the kit off this weekend. It was definitely fun while it lasted
How did you connect them onto the accessory circuit so that they turn off automatically
Is there any smaller than that available?
They sell all manner of horn kits :)
I want this in my car. How much did all that cost?
I’m actually wanting to put a train horn in my bmw and I was wondering if you would recommend this horn setup and I was wondering how much it cost you to buy the mit
What relai do u Use to switch betwen normal Horn and Train Horn ?
When do u use these shocking horns? For what purpose?
Hey SeriesBlue, how many honks (1sec) do you get out of the 2 gallon tank at which pressure?
A honk is generally more like less than half a second in length (1 second or train horn is when someone ROYALLY fucks up, lol) but I'd say you only get 2-ish seconds before they really begin to fade, and the drop-off happens fairly quickly. They only take 60 seconds to recharge at that point though. The tank runs at 150 PSI fully charged. If honk time is important to you, my old setup used a 5 gallon tank instead of a 2 gallon, and that one gave you a LOT more honk time. Space was more important for me in this case, but while 2 seconds doesn't sound like much, I've never "run out" of horn when it was needed. 2 seconds is several blasts of the horn.
Love this. Can you provide a link to the horn?
You think it would work on a 2005 Ford Explorer?
It'll work on just about anything :)
I wanna put these in my STI lol
Hey where did you get those mini rocker switches?
RadioShack!
Got it thank you!
Holy balls
Also do u get in trouble in Chicago??
Cyndy Rh I don’t think so I have mines install for at least 2 yrs
El Vela awesome I want this for my car lol
Cyndy Rh it’s hella fun to scare the shit outta ppl 😂😂
El Vela can I pay u to do mine lmao you have a real good set up. I don’t think anyone else would do a clean job like you did yours my car is new and I really wouldn’t want it looking all messed up and yours look real nice
Cyndy Rh I paid someone to do it for me but here’s my number 312-874-2738
Hey what model of hornblasters is this that you have?? I'm looking to get a train horn kit.
It's in the video description, lol.
People wanting to do this to their cars, DON'T, it's illegal in all states and you'll end up getting a stupid ticket like I did...
Plus its dangerous. Honking your horn isn't supposed to distract everyone on the road within a quarter mile of you!
You aren't wrong, although the closest I've ever gotten to a ticket was when I honked it for a cop and he called all his cop buddies over and had me honk it again :P
As for using it on the road, I find it much safer than a normal horn, because people these days tend to just ignore regular horns since people use them so regularly (especially in larger cities where the cabs and Uber drivers use them incessantly). They won't ignore a train horn, though, so if you need someone to stop doing something immediately, the train horn gets the job done!
What was the total cost of everything?
It was... not cheap, lol. The kit itself is like $600. Then there was just the cost of the wood for the base, other random bolts and things, and buying a jigsaw... and a router... and then the wiring harness I made, so all the wire, the fuse/relay box, the tools to crimp those, etc...
So yeah. I needed something to keep me busy over the winter. Those switches and that wiring controls other things too, though.
lmao this literally looks & works like my air suspension lol
Haha, it's basically the same thing, just more useless, lol.
Bro I’m trying to install train horns in my Prius C. Think it’s possible?
Anything is possible with enough clever engineering! I think the hardest part is finding a spot to mount the horns themselves. I imagine the C is very tightly-packaged vehicle, with not a lot of room to spare underneath. Perhaps a 3 or 2 horn system, with smaller trumpets would be easier to squeeze in there for you.
Put 2 train horn make mk2 anti crazy diver.
How many PSI’s?
150 PSI :)
It’s a bird , it’s a train , no it’s a Subaru
But.. why?
Because people ignore regular horns :P
Illinois woot woot I wanna do this to my car I’ll pay u
Where do you sell the same products?
I need
y
y not
Do it make your car heavier and slower?
It adds like 20-30 lb to the car. So technically yes, but realistically, no.
How do you handle draining water from the compressor on a regular basis?
I didn't point it out in the video, but there is a drain valve on the bottom of the tank that I open on occasion to drain excess water.
:thumbs-up:
Don't want a compressor going boom from internal rust buildup.
You just add 25+ Hp on your BRZ. Lol
what is the brand of this horn and compressor
All of the information is in the video description :)
