- Charlemagne is one of the scenarios in the Victors and Vanquished campaign in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition - Victors and Vanquished. In this scenario, the player plays as the Franks and the player color is blue.
In the year 768, Pepin, King of the Franks, son of Charles Martel, and favorite of the Pope, died on campaign.
By Frankish law, the Franks and their lands were divided between his two sons. The younger of these, Carloman, was given the largest portion.
Perhaps Pepin had intended his young son to succeed him. Though the other son, Charles, was elder, he had been born out of wedlock. In addition, Pepin’s own elder brother had stepped aside so that Pepin could become king.
At worst, the two brothers would find a way to share their power.
But what were a father’s intentions compared to the strength of one man’s will and iron?

Yeah the Umayyads were near impossible to beat on hard-mode. Cut down the Paladins in no time flat. Only way to take them down was like above, continously spamming them with trash halberdiers and skirmishers, gradually wearing them down, trebuchets in support to knock out the castles.
That was fun to watch, you are a very good player.
Ugh! the Umayyads are so grindy! I takes 3-4 shots for a castle to kill their camels, and they have infinite spawning units
I play for fun, and even in standard are tough.
Make sure you can get to the imperial age. I tried it and wasn't able to advance but played on anyway. Nearly impossible when you're stuck in the castle age
Same as you. So i call cobras for kill all infinite spawing.
@@peterl9022 it says in my campaing protect barcelona for imperial age but i cant seem to find barcelona eventho i explored whole map. The secondary objective is still active..
@@anlcagan8037 Barcelona is a small bit of land to the south that has a market and 2 vills. They become yours when you get near to it
filthadelphia (campaign creator) made these maps wayyy to grindy. There's no rhyme or reason as to why the umayyads should get infinite units. Once you blow open their base, they shouldn't be able to both spam infinite units from every building AND rebuild buildings. It's either they can rebuild buildings or they get infinite resources - not both!!!

Help, i cant get to imp in this campaign... i cant win against umayyads in castle age.... it says in my campaing protect barcelona for imperial age but i cant seem to find barcelona eventho i explored whole map. The secondary objective is still active..
