Gidday Oculus from Kiwiland! I love your way of telling the lore of Warhammer 40k. The way you take on the narrative voice of the devout historian. It is an original approach which you do extremely well with your cultured voice and way with words. It is not often, in the telling of Warhammer Lore, when I willingly suspend my disbelief. With you, this is always the case. Thank you! Kindest Regards, David.
My dear Oculus, I do believe that Sar Luther of the First Legion most prominently, as well as several others recieved genhancements to render them near-Astartes. Whilst several huscarls of Leman, King of the Russ, survived total implantation as fully grown adult males. Additionally, I was present during both the creation of the Legiones Astartes and their Legio Cataegis predecessors. Both of which were nominally led by Astartes Astartes Primarchs and Cataegis primarch commanders. I was there to watch the lead Director of the Emperor's geneticist scientists and co-creator, Amar Astarte invent the majority of both their soldiers gene-secrets. The Lunar Selenar Gene-Cults were forcefully brought into the Imperiums fold, so that the Emperor could make use of their advanced techniques to expand the Legiones Astartes exponentially.
"But respected Oculus, what about the Astartes that fell to Chaos? Does it mean that Astartes are not the perfect Angels of the holy Gott Kaiser? If that's the case then wha-!" *Knock* *Knock* *Knock* "Who's there?"
One of the stories I never get tired of hearing, and even less so when narrated from an in universe perspective like yours. Keep up the good work for the Imperium, historator.
So many questions: 1) are there any examples of the use of the betchers glands? 2)was Kor Phareon closer to an astartes than Luther? 3)why was Horus bald?
While i do believe that the emperor created the primarchs as perfect weapons i dont think that he cared a lot about their looks (Magnuses red skin comes to mind). While yes, sagnuiniuss was said to be beautiful that was his intended purpose. Resemble his fathers perfection. Horus was created to become warmaster, his hair follicles beeing immune to degratation due to dihydrotestosterone was to little interest to the emperor. Also the primarchs, just like every astartes, have insane amounts of anabolic and androgenic hormones pumping through his veins ( they are 200+kg meat Mountains and have an entire new Organ with the sole purpose of creating growth inducing hormones) horuses hairs were doomed from the start. You know, since Testosterone gets transformed into dihydrotestosterone, which is insanely androgenic. This dht connects to recpetors in the scalp which in turn leads to a degradation of the veins which run over the top of the head. Smaller veins mean less blood, less blood means less oxygen and nutriens, which in turn ends the abbility to produce hair.
I understand your desire for reworks. Your skill at narrating has grown by leaps and bounds. I listened to the salamander episode the other day and thought, "why is he going so FAST!". Lol
