The Prophet ﷺ once called Ali and Fatimah and Hasan and Hussain RA and put them under a cloak and said, “They are My family.” In another Hadith, Abu Bakr RA said to Ali RA: I swear By Allah that I would rather be kind and generous to Ahlul Bayt than my own family”. The next part of the lecture deals with the Shaykh divulging differences between Ahlul Bayt and twelve Shia. Listen intently.
Hussain Ibn Ali RA was born in Shaban, 4 H and Hassan RA was born in Ramadan, 3 H.Hassan and Hussain RA are renowned as the leaders of the young men of Jannah. The Prophet ﷺ once said “They are my two rayhanatayyah - two sweet flowers of this world, two blessings of this world”Hussain RA was greatly respected by the companions so much so that once Abdullah Amr bin Al As RA was once sitting in the shadow of the Kabah and when he saw Hussain coming, he said,” This man is the most beloved man on earth to the inhabitants of the heavens!”
Hussain RA and his brother Hassan RA both witnessed the Battle of Jamal and Siffeen and with the demise of Ali RA, Hassan RA was handed over Caliphate by the people of Kufa and Muawiya became the Caliph by the people of Syria.
The next part of the lecture deals with Yazid and the coming of power to Yazid. It is a very informative topic that sets the tone for future events. Yazid ibn Muawiyah ibn Abu Sufyan ibn Sakhr ibn Harb ibn Umayyah belonged to the tribe Banu Umayyah. Abu Sufyan is Yazeed’s grandfather. The massacre of Hussain and Ibn Zubayr are the tainted incidents during the rule of Yazeed.
The names of the following blessed Sahaba make a space for discussion and analysis and we are acquainted with these greats to have walked the face of the earth. They are:

Hold on now why say we love the Prophet's family IF they were righteous?! Of course they're righteous. They're even more righteous than the Companions for all I know. Even when Imam Ali peace be upon was washing the Prophet's (PBUH and his family) blessed body after his death the Companions were outside busy debating who's going to be the next Khalifa when it should've been Imam Ali and I have noticed that the Sunnis rarely mention the Prophet's family and what they've said of hadiths or quotes only the Companions???? Just what is wrong with people? Ali AS was born and raised as a muslim in the Prophet's arms and he was free of shirk whilst the Companions came from a background of Shirk, im not saying that they haven't made Tawbah but I'm saying that Ali AS is more pure and blessed than them.
And im not a Shia, im a sunni but i personally think this whole sunni shia thing is just unnecessary and a bunch of nonsense that makes people of the same religion debate abd hate each other. We love the Prophet and his family AS and the companions and follow what the Prophet had said of hadiths done. We worship the same God.

I was once told by a western non-muslim colleague that they do not want shia & sunni to unite. I am born in sunni family, but I dislike calling myself shia or sunni. @@shahidmiah917 Exactly. It is a really frustrating sight to see and they completely make up stuff about various things which neither Allah SWT or the Prophet/Prophet's family have commanded/said. But not all Shias are like that I assure you and same goes for the Sunnis. Most Sunnis have become too fanatic nowadays but Allah SWT has said in the Quran that He made us a middle/intermediate Ummah. Probably meaning that we should be neither fanatic or disbelievers.

@MrKingadam09 fair answer. But if you were to research your own Hadith brother, once again your own hadith it will be very simple to put 2 and 2 together. Our version of at least 90% of Islamic history is the same. What differs is reasons, intentions and goals of certain individuals.

I really respect Dr for his lecture However it’s just a very double standards which it doesn’t make sense. Why would you allow would the Muslims people Allow a leader that so corrupted and we don’t question. I’m sunni now I understand why our faith is so corrupted? To me it is just a hypothesis, after a humiliating defeat to muslim during mecca siege in 630AD then father of Muawiya abu Sufyan leader of meccan pagan became first person to embrace islam but it wasn't his noble cause but he did it with a political intention. The seed was cultivated one day he will seize power for him or his family. Intention was clear when Muawiya appointed his son Yazid as his heir but there is one thing in between his path the grandsons of prophet. Clearing the path for Yazid's rule the grandsons of prophet being targeted. One of them was killed using poisoning other one being butchered in Karbalah so no legitimate heir left for house of prophet's family. They ensure power remain to Umayyad family as it was before mecca conquest. They try to erase prophet's family from history. This way Yazid avenge his grandfather defeate their dream came true.
You contradicted yourself in this video alone, first saying that shia believe imam hussain knew he will die which is "bad" and that its false, then later in the video you said Prophet Muhammad told imam ali about the death of hussain, contradicting yourself

Congrats Dr. Qadhi for this valiant effort. I do wish to make following points: 1) Not using Abu Mikhnaf - one of the earliest authentic historian - bc he had leaning to the “other side” is like disbelieving Al-Jazeera reporters in Gaza (who are eye witnesses) bc they sympathize w Arab Palestinians! Tabari’s history quotes the event from every source- so ur narrative appears biased. 2) Key events are missing- prophet’s family was deprived of water X 3ds, 6mo baby was arrowed, martyrs bodies were trampled & left unburied, women & children were made prisoners, paraded & treated extremely inhumanly. 3)The rationale & background to imam’s mission was completely ignored. In his written wasiya imam clearly states that he rose to “reform the ummah” & re-establish his grandfather- the prophet’s practices ( sunnah). Yazid was an immoral, unjust drunkard & along w his father ( the tulaqa) were bent on corrupting Allah’s message, prophetic practices & to enslave Muslims, as well as avenge Badr in their quest for limitless power & fulfilment of personal desires. Muawaya killed Hujr bin Adi, began the practice of cursing Seyedina Ali from pulpit ( lasted 60 yrs) , Tyrannized people of Hijaz etc thru Busr bin Abi Arta- his evil commander & many other unforgivable crimes. If Imam had not risen- we will be muslim in name only - salah/siyam/ Haj/zakat / & Quran will be out the window. Painting imam’s judgement as inferior to sahaba & Seyedina Hassan is disingenuous - Allah & Prophet had destined imam for this herculean mission to re- establish justice as implied in the revelation to the prophet wrt imams martyrdom- 4) Euphemistically Exonerating Yazid of this massacre & shifting blame to Ubaydullah & kufis is like forgiving Netanyahu for massacre in Gaza & blaming soldiers! I wonder how Ibn ziyad’s tyranny against Dr Qadis wife, childrens & parents in 61 AH will still convince him to join the imam in kerbala- I have my doubts. !
5) The practice of mourning Imam is sunnah of prophet’s household- ex Bibi Zeinab - without whom the gruesome crime would not have reached us & would be suppressed by the Ummayads. Imam Jaffer Sadiq & others promoted this practice to raise awareness. Jews will not let us forget Holocaust & Shias will not let us forget kerbala.

Meanwhile, the people of Kufa (Muslims) who invited him they went through unexpected events. To deter Hussein's arrival some were killed in Kufa to set an example and some bribed to subdued them. Hussein reached the boundary with family, Hurr a high-rank official intercepted the caraven going to Kufa and the group ended to camp at Karbala. After the battle women and children taken as slaves first to Kufa. So, why Yazid didn’t send a message to Kufa to release the family. But, they were then taken to Shaam (Syria) humiliated in the court and imprisoned. What was the fault of women and children? For those who have not heard what happened after Karbala as this not mention in the UA-cam. Pls Sheikh don’t delete as I know can be a controversial point.
History continues: Now about Hassan, Prophet’s grandson, there was a plot to kill him so his wife Ja'ad bunt Ash'ath was approached with a lucrative deal to poison her husband. This happened after Hassan had signed a treaty with Muwaiya (Yazid's father). Hassan, who was blessed by being one under the blanket, a matured and sensitive brother was got killed. Wouldn’t his brother also realize he is next?

Many facts are falsified here, and it is known that Yazid was immoral and after accursed Yazid his army slaughtered the Ahlul Bayt in Karbala Yazid Army turned their attention to the Musli. Inhabitants of blessed Madinah Al Munswwarah then Yazid army attacked on Blessed Kabsh in Makkah which is well known in most Sunnis books.

As a Sunni I really wished Hussain RA won that battle as he obviously was the pious one but also because if Hussain RA had won there would be no Sunni Shia split. How foolish are the Shia to create a new religion with a completely different theology just because of the deeds of one evil man named Ibn Ziyad.
You are right in saying there would be no Sunni Shia split had Hussain not been martyred. But Shias still follow the practice of Hussain which is the correct Islam whereby Sunnis follow the Umayyads who murdered him.

Yazid is a nobody and you Shia created a new religion because of him. Sunnis worship Allah alone, unlike the Shias who now who spend more time mourning than actually worshiping the one creator Allah.

But when it was his turn he took leadership and we class him as the 4th Caliph. No hatred or disrespect to anyone and especially the Ahlul Bayt. I listened to the lecture too. But I didn't hear he said Hussain did it to himself. He didn't praise Yazid either. Saying "May Allah laknat the dzolimin" is not wrong at all. It is humbling yourself to Allah knowing that we are slave and we do not have much knowledge but certain that Allah will laknat the dzolimin. Hence, leaving it to Allah. Yasir Qadhi didn't praise Yazid, sounds like he was being careful.

@@farazrizvi6940 Nope he wasn’t against Ali at the beginning. When Ali couldn’t punish the murderers of Uthman, then the tension started. Either way Muawiya is wrong, he should have accepted this decision. But now for some reason the Shia have created a new religion and changed the theology too just because Muawiya took leadership.
Before anyone gets into any discourse as a Muslim and who claims to have read Quran and understood some of the ayats in various surahs "Slandering and cursing" is strictly prohibited and considered a grave sin( that is if one has to go by Our prophet SAS advice and Quran's teachings), so, one is not allowed how much ever one feels and gets angry about it. Let Allah AZJ decide for some's act specially when they are closely related to our prophet and lived in a time 1400 years back. Can you imagine 5 generation of your own children what they would say about you without any oral transmission about yourself, which is the case for any ordinary person. Sahabas tabeen and tabe tabeen are ones we muslims look upto , they have the first hand exposure to the events that happened moreover events recorded as oral and written transmisssion.
The very fact Ahlulbayt is esteemed high common people ( not scholars should avoid Slandering and cursing) In islam nowhere and no one is adviced to curse or slander anyone.
Now as for the discourse: there was always a political rivalry ever since Hzt Abu Sufiyan's Hzt ( Muaviya's father) time. Yazid and his band wagon of cruel and savage power hungry followers are known to people from both the factions and even the ones who didn't or couldn't participate in that conflict & were located far during that period. Hzt Jafar ibn Saadiq Hzt Abu Hanifa were some of the prominent example from among the lot.
Also always remember when Muslims attacked Constantinople under Hzt Muwaviyas Caliphate it was Yazid who was leading the army. Hazrat Hassan RA & Hussain RA participated in that war against the Romans along with Yazid.
According to Prophet Muhammad SAS advice that Ahlulbayth should be taken taken care of. HzT Umar RA devised a decree and ensured additional emolument to be given to members of Ahlulbayth for their well-being and expenses. This decree was never compromised by Hzt Muwaviya , so he continued giving Hazrat Hassan HZt Hussay RA from Caliphates treasury.
Unilaterally Muwaviya RA son Yazid and his governing team as a bunch of cruel, barbaric & savage is confirmed by and known to and not accepted by both the factions. Keep that clear in your mind it was a pure "political fitna" Allah hu Alam. We respect every RIGHTOUS sahabas, tabeen, tabe- tabeen We as sunni have our aqidah in place which we follow. That doesn't mean we accomodate Yazid in any manner be very clear when you get into a discourse on this subject with someone with sunni aqidah.
As for Slandering & cursing, though some deviant ones may do, we as sunnis are strictly advised not to do so and it cannot form a part of any sort of usool.
