Zoomers are the second worst thing to happen to the milsurp rifle scene, right after boomers that carved up old bolt guns to sporterize them.

Sporterizing made sense at the time. The guns were cheap and plentiful, I have no problem with someone who took one and made it a deer rifle. Probably brought a lot of memories on the cheap.

Actually, from my research, Irwin Pedersen never made a carbine that was accepted by the Army for use... Since they weren't able to uphold their contract, the IP Contract was given to Saginaw Gear... Saginaw spun up a second plant in Grand Rapids to handle the contract. If you look at the receiver on the left side up near the mag well your Irwin Pedersen should be marked S'G' to show the Grand Rapids manufacture. Note that the receiver will be marked on the back of the receiver with Irwin Pedersen... the S'G' shows it was produced by Saginaw-Grand Rapids.

I always wanted to pick up one, but I've only seen gimped up modified versions at gun shows. Plus, living in California with our stupid ammo laws makes getting ammo harder. I'd sooner wish to be able to buy ammo online again over mag regulations.

There okay the 30 carbine is lacking in power it’s slow and dosnt have a lot of impact energy I mean a 357 magnum has more of everything that matters out to 300 yards that’s why it’s probably 10 on my list with m1 grand as 2 and 1 being my favorite gun made from browning the mf bar 30-06 is a true battle rifle cartridge in my experience from hunting I use 180 grain it honestly doesn’t kick it percussive more then kicks but I shoot 50 bmgs for fun so

Got lucky and snagged a both a Winchester & Rock-Ola from the same CMP raffle. You really don't want to know how little I paid.
Piece of advice. Everyone will go for the cheap Inlands when the CMP has M1 Carbines. Send in an order for the rarer models. You have a much better chance of getting a Carbine... or two.

  • @kingnothing3523
    @kingnothing3523 3 місяці тому

    A few other mentions:
As well as different subcontractors, there are different types, which are essentially the pattern changes over the M1 Carbine's service life. The Type 3 (rotary safety, bayonet lug, fully adjustable rear sight, and pot-belly stock) is the most common, as Carbines were refit until the weapon was completely retired. Types 1 and 2 are rarer finds.
Some M1 Carbine stocks have the cut for the M2 Carbine selector lever, regardless of not having the conversion parts or M2 overstamp on the receiver. Mine does. This is likely due to refits for the surplus market when the weapon was retired, rather than refits while still in service (otherwise no M1 stock would have the M2 cut and not be converted). Idk if the cut is rare or not, but it does indicate that the particular Carbine doesn't have its original wood.
Rarity does not indicate quality. In particular, I recall that the Universal is not popular with collectors who shoot them; they say that the Universal is notably less reliable, and part of the blame seems to fall on Universal Carbines having dual recoil springs rather than a singular.
Inland MFG Division's M1 Carbines are not rare at all, as they were run by General Motors and made 2-2.5 million of them (sources vary). Inland made so many that it messed with the serial number system that subcontractors were meant to adhere to. Bad for collectablility now, good for the war effort then.

You have to have the right connections and know someone or their family member, who hoarded a lot of weapons.
The condition of these suggests a hoarder.
The family probably wanted to sell the lot as a whole and not piece it out. This limits the amount of people capable of buying it.

Forgot to mention I have 4 cub cadet garden tractors made by IH and all from the 60’s . I have 70 from 1965, 100 from 1965 which I have the snow plow on it ( have two more blades in the garage ) I have a 104 from 1969 which is my main mowing tractor and a 124 from 69 which I got from my dad when he passed . I also have a snow blower I can put in the 104 or 124 . They don’t make them like that anymore . They have a cast iron rearend and have a drive shaft instead of belts . The rear ends were also used on the full-size Cub tractor. That’s a couple reasons why the Cub cadets make the best pulling tractors .

Roca olas are not rarer than irwin petersons. They are infact more sought after by collectors because of being a jukebox manufacturer. And if you are implying they are rarer, why not include the production numbers? Alot of misinformation on this channel.

Inland still makes m1 carbine since 2010
    They cost about 1,300$

    • @darrellruehter9877

That is not the same Inland that made them during WWII .
They bought the name like the current Springfield Armory today is not the actual Springfield Armory that was an actual government armory . Thanks to DOD Robert McNamara in 1968 .

Seen o e at a gun show over weekend it had some engraving of Iwo Jima all over the stick it was a commemorative gun I guess the manufacturer was something Ordinance believe it coulda started with a i for the first name I hope it wasn’t the ones who made the great AKs

It would be Auto Ordnace which was bought out by Kahr Arms .
I bought the AOM150 paratrooper model because I didn’t want to beat up my original M1A1 made by Inland 1944 . Inland was a division of General Motors. .
The new inland Mfg. has no connection to them but happen to be in the same city as the original GM plant .

I found out and any guy who has more know how please correct me if I’m wrong but I heard the 30 caliber the m1 shoots was about as powerful as a 357 and the m1 was basically a pdw and not fully intended for frontline combat
