I was at RAF Kuching in 1965 to 1966, based at the transmitter site Batu Kitang. I still have wonderful memories of the people I met there, especially Kathy. I compare my memories of Sarawak with the images on Google Earth and I'm amazed at the development of Kuching, reaching far out into areas that were dense jungle. I had friends in Kuching, Haji Baki and Kampong Semaba. Greetings to you all. Denis

I was in lower secondary school in Kuching in the early 60’s. At that time, Sarawak was being milked by the English. Now Sarawak has a new colonial master, the Malayans from Kuala Lumpur. Corruption is rampant and flagrant. Corrupt high officials are strutting around, blatantly. I have given up on Sarawak.

Dear Mr. MichaelRogge, am personally very please and thankful to you for uploading all those rare videos especially on Kuching, Sarawak. Before these most of us only got a glimps of the past through still pictures taken by our families. My late father was also in the police force both during and after the British. He retired in 1984. He used to tell us stories of how kuching was back then. Especially with regards to the Police force which he loved most. Thank you Sir for sharing. Please convey my gratitude to the owner of the film. May the family and you bestowed with happiness always.

I believe this film will bring back a lot of memory of the people related and also it shows the world Kuching in 1960. 50 years ago, even a young boy became an old man and most old man be history. These old men became dust in the air, but now thanks to Mr. Rogge, these dust, these unidentified dust becomes part of us, part of our history. Its value far beyond physical treasure

Hi, just looking at the footage, my adopted father brought me from London to Kuching around 1955 until moving to Sydney and boarding school in 1963. He was also in the police as Superintendent at the same time as your father after serving in the Royal Navy during the war. Unfortunately he passed away in 2006. Take care.
