Physical therapist here. The thing to consider when testing grip strength is placement of fingers while testing. There are four muscles that flex 3 joints of each finger, each one doing a specific job. The most important one for climbers being the flexor digitorum profundus which is only muscle to flex all three finger joints (DIP, PIP, MP). DIP being distal or joint furthest away from body. When hes climbing he’s promoting that joint and muscle the most. However, the grip test has him measuring PIP and MPs only bc his finger pads are not being test. This means the muscle he uses the most is not being tested. It is possible that he might not need handshake grip strength muscles to be as active bc theyre not used as much when climbing.

zgsoad Climbers will destroy bodybuilders in grip strength. Don’t be dumb. How many bodybuilders do you think specifically train their grip? Pretty obvious you’ve never climbed pal.

Alex is one of the bravest souls He was unintentionally using his thumb on his left hand both times which would indicate a previous wrist or radius injury that he uses his thumb for stability and support.

I could see something stupid like this going around school as kids. “If your right arm is weaker than your left arm you’ve got cancer”. And a bunch of kids panicking as they realize one hand is weaker lol
