Don’t sell yourself short. Being an example and encourage people to get out riding very well could save someone’s life. Encouraging a 65 year old guy watching UA-cam videos and sitting on a trainer that he can do this thing does more than you can imagine. I watched you over and over last winter. It took me 13+ hours but I did it and it was life changing. Thank you.
I was there in '22 when the race was cut short due to rain. The mud on the Maah Daah Hey is no freakin joke. If it rains, you aren't riding anymore, you're hiking and your shoes weigh 30lbs each and your bike is 50lbs. I want to go back and finish the course. Its an amazing route.
It always amazes me how many people say that cycling, and usually MTB, saved their lives. I count myself amongst them and truly believe there is something magical about the bike and a long hard trail. Great video. I'm gonna have to check out this Maah DaaH Hey.
This trail is amazing. I did it with 2 friends unsupported from CCC to Medora in the early 2000s. I hauled all my gear in a B.O.B. trailer. They both used Panniers. It took us 3 days and it was way more challenging than I ever thought it would be. I can't even imagine doing it all in one shot without stopping. If it's not dry, you can't ride it. That mud is so thick and sticky that your bike will stop moving.
This film makes me want to pin a number on and race MTBs for the first time in around 30 years. The sense of community reminds me of what I found in the early 90s MTB. Such a great story, well told and beautifully filmed. 🖤
Thank you for a highly inspiring film. It was awesome. My strongest feeling from watching is that those cyclists, especially Kelly and Tyler, are very nice human beings. Impressive.
I watched that all the way through! What an amazing story! Thanks for doing this film. I absolutely need to get back to ride the Maah Daah Hey, it's been too long!
I really thought this was an outstanding film. I remember when I accomplished my first century on a road bike. Obviously, that’s nothing compared to what these guys did that day and you know do in their sleep all the time. But I also could relate very much to them, I just wanted to say to all you guys involved. Thank you so very much for this was wonderful.
Done this race and loved the scenery. I thought hardest part was all the exposure and lack of shade due to date. For me, killer.. I have gone back and rode it on it's own and loved it and did a 2 day bikepack with kids.
Awesome video! I lived in North Dakota for 6 years and did a lot of mountain biking and hiking on the mdh it was awesome getting to see videos and images that I recognized from my time spent there. My daughter has gotten into mountain biking with me so we might have to make a trip out there this summer.
nice work on this film! the race is amazing too- heard briefly about this race in 2015 but didn’t appreciate what a beast this course is until watching this flick- very well done!
Oh wow finally someone shining the spotlight on the maah daah hey! Probably the most slept on place for mountain biking. It's literally world class. Never done the 100 miler...but I do want to try the 25 or 50!
the poetry of body and machine in that effort is awe inspiring but the comraderie and respect for fellow competitors is the true measure of this film and event.
GREAT film, very very well done by the whole crew. I couldn’t tell ya the first thing about how to ride a bike but this had me FIRED up from the first minute to the last.
@@proximalflowstate19 a DQ would've been lame, i was just frustrated that he took the wrong turn. They responded to my comment below with some more context
@@thestablecyclistI’ve done emerald epic 6 times. Last three years in a row. If I can arrange a support crew I think I’ll change it up and do Maah Daah Hey this time.
Really nice film and great story, but pretty disappointing that the race organizers didn’t block off that wrong turn better at the fork on the final loop. Did I understand that correctly? It would’ve been great to have the two compete over the final 10 miles, instead of having the winner decided by Tyler taking a wrong turn.
Everything was well marked but due to the weather causing the out and back + loop, there were multiple race distances that day using both parts of the trail (and intersection) and so one could get turned around, especially 95 miles into a very hard day. It is unfortunate for all involved. Everyone (organizers, races, volunteers) did their best with what they had and things just got scrambled for a bit. Hopefully that clears things up.

Brilliant!!!! Motivates me to get back to MDH and race again... badest race in the badest place. Love North Dakota.

So, so good! I've tried to ride the Maah Daah Hey just for fun and got rained out both years. Will try again. Great story!.

Thanks for sharing this story within the race. The course looks amazing, and I hope one day to toe the starting line!

Great film. I love the clip from the 24 Hours of Adrenalin race, at the 5:15 mark. I was on the winning 5-man team at that event in 2015.

Awesome, hope you have more stuff like this on the way.
Awesome job, JP!
Nice video! The Maah Daah Hey has been on my wishlist for awhile. Not the race though, I want to do a fat bike adventure ride on it!
Fabulous production John! I have done the MDH 50 and this is as glorious as the race! Well done!
nice work on this film! the race is amazing too- heard briefly about this race in 2015 but didn’t appreciate what a beast this course is until watching this flick- very well done!
Excellent work, the coverage really speaks to the challenge of the course and the unpredictability.

Awsome! Great job! Makes a guy want to do it;)
What a great story, really enjoyed it. I’m doing my first 100 miler this summer and this was a great watch. Gave me things to keep in mind

Thanks so much Tayler! Glad you found it!
A very sick film in such an underrated part of the country....!
Nice!!!
Wow! What a great twist near the end. Love it.
Was the twist Tyler taking the wrong turn? That was frustrating for me that it wasn't blocked off by the race organizers

This was a great film. Now I can’t decide if I want to do MDH or Emerald Epic this year!
You won’t be disappointed either way.

@thestablecyclist not sure if you have any additional context on this. Regardless, appreciate the film and great watch.
