His commentary and antics were the only reason I was able to watch this playthrough. Tbh I didn't find the game to be nearly as interesting as Until Dawn 😅
Mark's Playthrough is such a good example of how a game that let's what scares you get be decided by your choices backfire XD like, he got barely any of the better ones through no faulty logic of his own. The only real times he wasnt laughing or frustrated was when he got jump scared by something out of nowhere for the sake of being a sudden jump scare, like the rat or the trophy. It makes no sense whatsoever that someone playing could be genuinely scared by getting invested in trying to save everyone and apparently by pure chance coming across the actual freaky stuff, but they could just as easily have Mark's experience of campy reactions, voice acting and camera angles, arbitrary insta death quick time events that seem to be the only actual game mechanic apart from the two times minimal a rhythm game can show up, and increasingly infuriating results that seem almost designed to give you the middle finger unless you can predict the future XD
This just in: Mark has a quarter addiction. Despite fighting an uphill battle against this for years, he has had many relapses back to his love for quarters. “Other spare change just won’t do,” he replied when asked about his opinion on this addiction.
I didn’t watch Mark’s playthrough of Man of Medan past the first episode because I couldn’t stand the game itself. I’m very grateful of the compilations you make, especially for playthroughs of games that have really long play times.
This is a really weird game, like even weird on a social level. Some say it's awesome and some say it's cringy as fuck. Whenever I go to Pewds or Jack's channel everyone doesn't seem to get why this shit's so cringy. I come back to Mark's channel and I'm glad I'm not the only one because I thought I was going nuts. Hail the Markiplier fans who don't know what the fuck this game was trying to do...
Ech0location I watched Mark’s entire play through and it’s just so awkward. The dialogue is pretty much non-existent and at times just weird, character interactions are odd and don’t gel together at all, the plot is predictable and it’s one of the few games where I dislike all of the characters; no redeeming qualities from any of them and they’re all so BORING. Honestly if I’d played this game myself I’d have probably been just as frustrated as Mark 😒
Especially because Until dawn was such a success because of the unique gameplay and story telling. I was really hyped for this because the intro was hella cool but then it just.... disappointed. It's sad really because what you thought were cool monsters to fight, was actually just gas.
I felt like the interactions were like aliens trying to come across as humans. It didn't feel natural at all.. It was really sad because this game had so much potential. It looks beautiful too. Really a shame...
God this game is so weird, the acting and the facial expressions, plus the story is super weird and feels out of place, also the character descriptions are totally wrong. That’s just my opinion though
Yes like Julia's character traits being selfish and generous at the same time is very incoherent Also, it's very stupid that Alex, a person with "very little self-confidence" would want to marry a selfish girl like her
"Until Dawn" made me excited for what was to come from them later. This game left such a bad taste in my mouth that I'm nervous about there next one "Little Hope" which even the early access of it makes me worried.
I HAVE A WAY TO MAKE THIS GAME NOT SUCK. (as much) I came up with this a while ago, so maybe I'm missing some details, but something I noticed on Mark's playthrough caught me. Pretty much the whole game is a kind of boring haunted house with some insane pirates chasing them and shitty quicktime events. The pirates are basically just there to provide a physical enemy aside from the hallucinations everyone's experiencing. But there's one moment that stuck out as weird: 17:43, the head pirate dude saves Fliss from falling overboard and says "Everything's better when we help each other out." That moment seems so out of place, and doesn't fit in with anything else, not the story, not that one pirate's character. Well, what if there was an option where that part wasn't out of place? Instead it was foreshadowing a possible outcome one could receive down the line - the option of "we're all going nuts, let's work together to get the heck out of here." Maybe one thread of choices would lead the head pirate to picking that option for free, maybe that rich bastard Conrad could make up for his douchiness and offer to pay them when they were out of the ship (maybe going so far as to offer themselves as hostages still that they need to get out alive for the pirates to receive their money at all? or maybe trying to convince him of an employer/employee relationship, like hiring a mercenary for protection?). Think about it, Fliss in that moment saw that the head pirate doesn't want to cause unnecessary deaths. She figures out all the craziness is happening because of a hallucinatory gas, because once she had some fresh air, her surroundings changed. She sees head pirate dude charging at her, completely irrational due to the gas, and positions herself so he charges straight through a door onto the outside deck, where he gulps some fresh air and returns to rationality, and then they can have this conversation. (Maybe add some dynamics with an old oxygen tank, but they only have enough masks for a few people and have to ration it among the whole group - adds to the tension of having one of the pirates as an ally). Maybe the son is taking the hallucinations a lot harder than the dad and there's a really tense scene where a rational dad head pirate is trying desperately to convince his son, in the throes of madness, to take the oxygen mask and the player can choose whether or not to help with the convincing - again, adds to the trust/tension dynamics down the line depending on how successful they are. Maybe that would have turned it more into a thriller than a horror, but I think that could have made the pirate threat a lot more interesting and dynamic than just having them pop up now and again as the "chase you down the hallway monster." If anything, adding that dynamic could have made those chase scenes more emotionally charged - if a series of choices ended up with the dad head pirate going rational, losing access to the oxygen tank, then reverting back to hallucinatory madness, there's a twist of guilt and sadness knowing that he could have been a decent person and he could have been saved. Anyway, that's how I'd want to fix the pirates. Not sure about fixing the boringness of the hallucination drug, but it's a start.
16:49 and 16:52 hands down the most unexpected funniest moments that gets me every dang time. I’m surprised I’m even breathing still after laughing so hard.
mark face at 13:09 almost killed me from laughter this shit is dangerous you can't show it to anyone people may die, love mark and thanks for putting this video i actually never seen this one before so am going to check it
I feel kind of sad the game was as disappointing as it was - Cause I like the concept of the gas and shit and teens accidentally dragged into it because one of them's a douche...but the expressions are weird, the reactions are weird and the dialogue is odd..Very disappointing compared to how much I loved Until Dawn, but I hope the next chapters will be better.
I showed my coworker this compilation at work one day when it was slow. And from then on, we constantly joke about quarters and “I can pay for my karate classes and get my fortune read” 😂
Earlier in the original video Markiplier read this very long book that was very cryptic and vague but seemed to be hinting at how to summon a demon. It took him a very long time to finish.
17:21 same thing happened to me. seriously, there's something wrong with the controls. Also in 28:40, in my playthrough it was Brad. How come it's different here?
God this game was fucking horrid, the uncanny and uncomfortable animations, the robotic, disjointed dialog that sounds like it was written by an AI that just read a hundred or so horror scripts, and the stupid controls that killed people more than anything in the damn game, the story makes little sense, you cant get invested in these weird, alien feeling people, and when you're constantly exposed to different button combination qte's that frequently result in character death, you can't focus on the story or haunting atmosphere because you're always trying to preempt the button prompts. Its such a clunky, weird and painfully awkward clusterfuck of a game that I'm glad I didn't waste money on.
So when he said the start of a trilogy did he mean this is connected story wise to until dawn, or is it just the creators and they are just making a trilogy out of this.
I’m mad he didn’t title one of his videos “Man of M’dong”
MC Judith man of Me Dong
That's what the game is anyway

Probably would’ve gotten him demonetized. 😂
Jack's playthrough: I'm invested in these characters, I need them all to live!
Mark's playthrough: *BEEP BOOP!!*

Mark is acting like such a kid through this entire play through and I LOVE IT 😂❤️

Honestly I stopped first episode I like mark but it just wasn’t funny to me
The game was so bad it doesn't deserve anybody's full attention, really
The rant that ensued when Fliss died was almost as epic as the rant when Ashley died in UD.

"ANYWAY, HOW'S THE WIFE?" XD
7:07 His reaction to the music kills me 😂
This is better than watching the actual play through. Honestly such a long game and slow. Love all the best Markipoo moments.
I love how almost half of this video is just from the first episode, it’s one of his funniest videos imo.
I didn’t watch Mark’s playthrough of Man of Medan past the first episode because I couldn’t stand the game itself. I’m very grateful of the compilations you make, especially for playthroughs of games that have really long play times.

Agreed it was all fucking weird lmao
Everyone’s saying the story is weird, but here’s where it gets weirder: IT’S BASED ON A TRUE STORY.
Yeah its based off of a dutch ship called the ourang medan
@@SlickussoThe ship never existed, it’s an urban legend.
Wait, WHAT
And here I realized that Mark can kill anyone in a game... Even when literally nobody else killed Fliss. And Conrad... I'm dying XD
" *I will be with you in a hot SECOND!* "
the whole Fliss speech has me dying everytime
31:40 Omg Mark. You dun went Ragequit Daft Punk on me LOL
*40 minutes of Mark making himself laugh*
😂😂
The annoying thing about the Fliss death is that it goes from a long pause of them just staring each other down to a one-second quick time event
Markiplier was hitting the laughing gas hard before making this series 🤣🤣
It’s all fun and jokes until you hear the theme song of this game.
38:18 - 38:41, By far the best/funniest part of this video LOL "I DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS A MASH"

Okay, watching Mark's reactions to this game make more sense than the actual fucking game itself.
The opening title sequence was the only good thing about this game
It had good ideas but failed to execute them in the right way...
"Hey I wanted to go TALK TO MY BROTHERRRRR!!!!"
