Yes fr !! I’m honestly frustrated that i didn’t choose to play Leah for my scripted gcse atp, because she’s always portrayed SO WELL in these recordings, whilst Mark and Adam are usually pretty mediocre…
I'm studying this play for my component 3 and thank you so much for putting this online with such excellent quality! It was great for me to see some actors choices and directors choices I could write about, for example I really enjoyed that you chose to emphasise the comedic effects of the play and I do love the minimal set, easy to write about and highly effective. Thank you and good show!!!!!!
I'm in year 9 and in my English class were watching parts of this , reading the book and discussing the characters and the language/How they speak and Express their feeling
Why is everyone only picking the bad things out, yes there are some big things that should be changed. But a place like this is hard to get perfect, or even close to the standard of professionals.
You dont know shit about drama the acting was wooden for some characters john tate in particular who kept breaking the fourth wall. I've seen better productions elsewhere. This production aint close to professional standard
such a strong performance of this piece . Im doing DNA for my drama GCSE and im having to multirole Lea ,Jan and Cathy so Im very confused on how its going to work
Congratulations! I’m doing this play at the minute and I’m playing Brian. Its such an intriguing play and I’m proud to be a part of it and you all should be too :)
God damn in I'm Phil. He says "Oh hullo there mate" once and then just goes all sigma mission impossible x rock smoldering face and crafts a plan to get everything in order. How the fuck am I supposed to do my homework answering what emotions Phil feels, when the only emotion Phil has is sigma 🗿
I mean the person who played mark was very good. But it felt like he was just telling Jan rather than the others, and he was like back and forth, back and forth, during the explaining bit.
my school is doing a play and I initially wanted to work backstage but the auditions consisted of acting bc my drama teacher said everyone had to act now, somehow, he thinks I’d be great as Phil and im so nervous as I’ve never acted before but I hope watching this helps
well a friend of mine saw this play and couldn't make out whether it was a dark comedy, drama or thriller and thats just a problem with the play itself. i dont think its very well written and some of the dialogue is pretty bad.
So for my BTech Drama Component 2 we are doing DNA, and my group are doing pages 49-60. I got the part Adam which isn’t a character like me, and I’m not a fan of performing naturalism, I’m more of a musical theatre person. But it’s an interesting story, and I think the key part is blocking with this play.
Idk if it was supposed to be like this but majority of the time he seemed to be more interacting/posing the lines towards the audience and not the people’s he’s talking to
Can anyone give me the time stamp for Leah’s are you happy monologue?? I’ve been told to watch DNA in order to get an idea of how to stage my own version of it for my solo but I can’t be bothered to go through the whole thing✌️😭 Nvm I’ve found it✌️, however if anyone does want it in the future here you go 22:36 ❤️
This is a humble attempt at DNA. No one had a real connection with any of the characters. A couple actors rushed through ALL their lines. It seems that some of these actors think yelling equals acting. I recommend to refer to Uta Hagen's Challenge for the Actor, as it pinpoints the prime of acting. Actions. Objectives. I don't think I saw any character think! These lines were executed with heavy planning, nothing feels real. Nice attempt though! I can tell you guys have worked hard to block and learn these lines. Keep Moving Forward!!!
Leah seemed really confident especially in the beginning. she should've been more like a bonobo and should've looked more worried like she was overthinking. she shouldn't of received laughs either. nothing Leah does should provoke laughter. she is a desperate character not a funny one
i played adam recently and was lucky to have a good director instruct me. the key is to mix up the emotions and take your time delivering as the character is lost in thought and having gone mad after spending several weeks in the woods isolated
@Olivia Kelly because i go to a boys school they changed kathy to chris to make it legit and i just kinda forgot and i already did it and i did pretty good

John Tate seems too stiff, he should've been Richard.
What’s the time stamp for adams monologue
I don’t really think much of this is supposed to be funny but they did it as a comedy
That's how the author intended it
The play is entirely down to interpretation. It's full of dark humour, and therefore can be performed as a comedy, but also as something more serious.
I reckon its nicer as an intense play
