It's amazing how these silent ones made by Disney are so much better than the 30s ones made by Lantz. Just goes to show how important storytelling talent is. :)
Actually they were silent, however sound was added onto the silent Oswalds in 1931, when they were rereleased. However most of these rerelease soundtracks are also lost, with the Trolley Troubles 1932 reissue being the only surviving one Edit: after doing extra research. There are two other not lost sound reissues of silent Oswalds. Those are for Yankee Clippers and Homeless Homer
My older brother hates these kind of cartoons he thinks that most people hate these and thinks that the newer ones are better than these but that's not true at all so my older brother is a idiot and also I live in Michigan.
preciselly. I would guess it was Walt's way of saying "Oswald never really left me" and now, with Epic Mickey, Oswald is back, I wonder what would Disney think if he could see this game, because playing this game made me really nostalgic and happy ^^
Ben Donovan even in an epic Mickey comic the tales of wasteland he got mad when the clocktower mentioned mice and he always got annoyed when someone mentioned Mickey
Oh man, so the first thing that happens in this one is Oswold bopping two mice on the head as they try to take his stuff, and then the second thing that happens is him (without actual sound) shouting "hot dogs"??? The Mickey Mouse cartoon, The Karnival Kid, is like some sort of sequel XD
Well, I think this is Disney's take on the meat scandals that happened along this time. How rats along with rat poisoning and their poo is mixed with the meat. And how the customers just eat the food without knowing what is inside?
I would guess probably to create a bigger design difference between the two, to make them look less similar, just to be more visually appealing, and to make it easier to tell the difference between the two
She tried to get that attention until she was really in danger °____° but I like how Oswald was trying to safe her, cute 😍🙌😙 and it was sad that dog who left the food
Note-- the hot dog gags in this cartoon were inspired by "Cracked Ice," an Aesop's Fable released February of 1927; Oswald's "All Wet" came out in October of the same year! Two years later, "Cracked Ice" was reissued by Van Beuren in sound as "Skating Hounds." Don't be fooled by Commonwealth's broadcast version of "Cracked Ice," which does call itself "Cracked Ice," but is actually an entirely different Fable released in 1925 called "On The Ice."
1: I did not know you could spank hot dogs 2: If Oswald can take his ears off, he would survive zombies 3: Oswald is waaaaayyy better than Mickey Mouse :)
@@sqreaky2267 I don’t know, I don’t remember my train of thought from 11 years ago. Probably because he used them as clubs for a bit in the beginning, that’s my best guess as to what I was thinking.
I guess 1927 was the year of beautiful classic cars, vaudeville, cheep goods and the year of great life without LGBT agenda and Internet. I've never lived in 1920s so I do not know how it was.
The hot dog thing seems to be a running gag. That or several versions on a theme. I've seen it a few different times now in Oswald and also old Mickey cartoons. I wonder if old Walt was really that imaginative, or was he partaking in mind altering substances? Some of those drugs were still legal back then. Anyway, these old toons were like acid trips. Everything comes alive.
I think this was the only copyrighted Oswald short left from 1927 that didn't enter public domain til now. The remaining 1927 Oswald shorts already entered public domain back in 1955.
@Yosef Demby After the copyright to most of the 1927 shorts had long since expired. They have access to the original shorts they did but in 1955 most of the 1927 shorts entered public domain. Long before Disney bought them. Even if they did like with All Wet for example I doubt Disney was going to renew the copyright anyway. Now for the score used in these shorts, maybe at best but realistically even if Universal who owned the shorts in 1955 did renew the copyright I doubt Disney could have renewed it themselves by now. I'm no copyright expert or anything but I assume that if anything enters the public domain you can no longer copyright it. So those shorts were already in the public domain no longer copyrighted after 55. Now if the shorts were under copyright protection when Disney bought Oswald then yes. But like I said, since the majority of the 1927 shorts already entered public domain by then, my best guess is that they're no longer copyrighted so that's an no there.
Wow they knew how to kiss back in the day. now we have to see the back of somones head when they kiss so as to avoid lip to lip showing. Also, Ortensia wold be pissed.
Is this Walt Disney's version of the meat scandals around this time, of how rats along with rat poisoning and their poo is mixed with the meat. And how the customers just eat the food without knowing what is inside?
i heard that there is going to be a sequel to Epic Mickey where i do believe that Oswald will be an playable character just like Mickey. but i wonder if any others old characters from thoses Oswald's or Mickey's Shorts will make their appearance?
i love thisssssss and has anyone seen the fnf oswald mod? i played it and on freeplay theres a secret song and oswald says IM NOT THAT OLD!!!! when he is hes made in the early 20 and his age is 94 i think?
oswald in this short: "I FUCKING HATE MICE"
oswald in epic mickey series: "ayyyy mickey my man my bro"
I mean, Oswald hated Mickey in the beginning of Epic Mickey ...lol.
Mice coming in: “I’m about to end this rabbits whole career.”
It's amazing how these silent ones made by Disney are so much better than the 30s ones made by Lantz. Just goes to show how important storytelling talent is. :)
Hello 🤩
It has sound. But most the Walt cartoons have lost it. The only one I know of with original sound is "Trolley Troubles".
Actually they were silent, however sound was added onto the silent Oswalds in 1931, when they were rereleased. However most of these rerelease soundtracks are also lost, with the Trolley Troubles 1932 reissue being the only surviving one

There's one thing that Mickey and Oswald have in common, they both love hot dogs.
Brother like brother
NOOOO OSWALD AND MICKEY Both SPANKED HOT DOGS!!
Oswald the lucky Rabbit is my favorite Disney character 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Awww
Same
Oswald really hate mice xD
Actually those are small cats.
No, they are either mice or rats. Their tails are too thin to be even a kitten's tail.
Well lets say a certain mouse took his fame and popularity. And is his half brother.
19thCenturyGhost he hates Mickey Mouse 🐭
Um he say he want to be Mickey mouse so he can not get away
when oswald was taken away, Walt used many ideas from Oswald on mickey, not only in design, but also in episodes script
im 8 and watch old cartoons like these

Oswald tried to fend the mice off his cartoon, well, instant karma
Those were small cats, not mice. Common mistake, I thought they were mice at first also.
Joshua Wood they're mice even in great guns there appears mouse that looks exactly the same
@@transfemoswald 🤔 Oswald does realize that his younger brother Mickey is a mouse, right?
Ben Donovan yeah but he just hates mice and after what happened about universal probably he hates mice more :b

I have a Bambi dvd with an Oswald short
what in the world do they put in those hot dogs
i want one as a pet though

L&M ForestPro same I want one as well
The FRICK...they’re probably filled with GMOs. Doesn’t the thought of that scare your little peen off?
Lysergic acid
Poor Oswald ;-;
Oswald hate mouses, and his brother literally is one
and why fanny was replaced by ortensia?
I would guess probably to create a bigger design difference between the two, to make them look less similar, just to be more visually appealing, and to make it easier to tell the difference between the two
